The day was still young. The sun was just beginning to rise on the edge of the horizon, Kailey could see it clearly, poking out over the top of the canvas and leather tents. She stood in front of her own single person tent, and took several deep, cleansing breaths as her nose twitched, carrying the scent of horses and human sweat to her nostrils. It wrinkled unpleasantly, as she forced herself to ignore it, as she had risen early to get a head start on her training. Something she hadn't often taken the time to do, since leaving the city of the mountainous blue people and returning to Endrykas, perhaps, a large portion of her hoping against all hope that her parents would be waiting for her there. She shook her head lightly as she took another deep breath in through her nose, and out through her mouth, before taking the time to slip into her favored starting position. She began by letting her left leg slide out in front of the right. She kept its toes pointed out ahead of her, while those of the right she twisted out to the side, so that they fasted the east, and the rising sun. She bent each leg at the knee, but the left more so, and leaned into it further, applying most of her weight to the lead foot.

From there, she took another deep breath, and then Kailey raised her hands. She balled each into a tight fist, allowing the thumb to coil over her knuckles, and bind the closure in place, as she cocked each arm and held them a few inches in front of her chest, the left hovering only a few inches above her right. Each arm tilted upward, so that they ran to opposing shoulders as she rotated from the waist up, so that her body would face the east, and present less of a target to potential attackers. Her gaze she directed ahead of her as she took a final deep breath in through her nose, and then began hopping in place, rocking her body back and forth, her weight from one foot back to the other. She was beginning to warm up, even before she began to practice her movements. This made her happy, it made her feel alive as she steeped forward with her left foot, then shuffled with the right as she tilted slightly back, and guided her right arm downward. Pulling it toward the southeast, so that the elbow was pushed behind her, in that direction. Then, she straightened it out a little as she stepped forward again with the right foot, and then moved it back in ward in a slight arcing pattern, which ended with an uppercut sort of jab.

Kailey's fist cut through the air with ease. When it had extended as far as it would go, Kailey pulled her arm back into the pocket position. (Meaning, she pulled it back, and tucked the limb under her shoulder, so that the fist fell directly beneath the armpit). As she did this, she stepped forward, and let her left arm snap outward. It rotated as it shot forward, but only slightly, as it pushed through the air, and extended as far as she could make it, completing a simple jab. From there, the Kelvic followed up by bringing her right arm out of the pocket position, and jabbing at the air directly ahead of her as she retracted her left arm. Then, as the right completed the jab, she pulled it back, and pushed the opposing arm forward, completing yet another. From there, she let the arm fall back into pocket as well. Now both arms were in the pocket position. Kailey took a step forward from there, as she took a deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth, before pushing both of her arms forward at the same time, moving through another jab, with her fists nearly touching. When she was done, she pulled her arms back into the starting position, and prepared herself for her next strike. .

Kailey stepped forward, she pulled both of her fists closer to her, towards her chest. She breathed deeply, as she hopped back, putting all of her weight onto her right foot, before shifting it again back onto the left as rapidly as she could. With the momentum she had built up, Kailey lifted her right leg off the ground. She kept it bent at the knee and pulled it upward, into her chest. When her skin-covered bone was just about to brush against the fabric of her simple dress, she pushed her leg back out. She let it straighten, her bones stretching as much as her limb. She coerced it out as far as it would go as she pointed her toes, and then rotated on her hip, bringing the leg all the way around in a roundhouse kick. When she had made a largely full rotation, (and wobbled a little unsteadily upon the grass in the process), Kailey turned her leg up- so that her toes were facing the sky. Then she bent it at the knee, and pulled it back. The instant her leg touched the ground again, she jabbed angrily at the air with her right hand, then followed up with the left. She completed a series of six jabs before breathing deeply again, and moving on.

This time, she bent the left leg even more furiously at the knee. Then, she raised her foot, so that her toes were the only things that touched the ground. She drew them back, pushing them toward her hind leg. When it brushed against the sandal-adorned foot that lay in wait, she let her sole ride up the length of limb, until it reached her knee. By then, her left knee had risen to a level equal to her pectoral muscles, or just about. Her hands, which had fallen back into their starting position, after the end of her jabbing session, flung outward to either of her sides. The momentum that was built up as she pushed them behind her, as though she were a bird extending her wings, forced her back to arch, and the knee she had raised to jut outward, as though she were pushing it into the stomach of an opponent, and completely knocking the air out of their bellies. When the stretch she felt while holding this position became unbearable, Kailey pulled her arms back into the starting position as she straightened out her back, and forced her head to tilt forward again- and look ahead.

Slowly, she set her foot back down on the ground, and slipped back into her starting position. She breathed deeply in through her nose and out through her mouth with a soft sigh. Sweat now poured down Kailey's brow, but she was not ready to stop, even now that the sun was rising even higher, and warming the summer air even further. She wanted to practice some more, and so she would. She breathed deeply, and decided to return to her punches. This, time, she swept her right arm farther back, so that it was directed behind her spine, at a slight angle. When she could feel the stretch of its new position upon the muscles in her back, shoulders, arm, and neck, she pushed it forward, moving it inward toward the left side of her body in a sort of side ways strike. It struck the air in front of her within a second or two, and she followed up by quickly raising her right leg. She kept it bent at the knee, and let it make contact with the extension of her arm. When it had, she pushed the leg directly outward, ahead of her. It unraveled on a diagonal plane, up toward the sky. She imagined kicking someone in the face with it, and smiled as she set it back down on the ground..

Kailey's eyes glimmered with a reflection of the sun's light. The edge of her lips curled into a delicate smile as she drew her arm back, and returned to her starting position. From there, she stepped forward with the right foot, so that it led, and rotated her hip. This, essentially created the mirror of the starting position she had been using up until now. Although, it created some awkwardness, at least within her mind, in how the right hand was still below the left. Which she felt, could make it harder to block, as an opponent would likely go for it, she thought, and if she tried to move it, it would simply crash into its twin. So, she thought it would be best to amend this. She wouldn't always get the chance to stop and fix things in a fight, she knew, so she decided she would have to do it in a way where she could also be on the offensive, and keep herself fairly well guarded, (or in a position to guard), at the same time. So, she began circling her arms, letting them roll over one another. This way, they spun in circles just before her, but she pushed them out farther, so that they could become a cycling series of direct hits to a person's chest and or chin area, depending on their size in comparison to her own.

Kailey maintained this for about a half a minute, until she decided that she had had enough of it, and allowed her hands to rotate one last time as she pulled them a little closer to her chest, and allowed the right hand to come out on top. She smiled, everything had worked smoothly, she knew as she rocked back and forth on her feet, shifting her weight from one side of her body to the other, over and over again. When she felt as though her blood had had enough time to flow through the area, and keep her warm, she glided forward, and quickly jabbed at the air again. First with the right hand, and then the left. Then the right again, and then the left, over and over again. She could feel her heart beating wildly in her ears as her adrenaline level continued to rise, and she pulled her right hand back again. Moving it into pocket, then dipping it low, before forming a "U" shape that brought it up again in something between an uppercut and a side long swipe. She smiled, as she moved back into her starting position, and threw another roundhouse kick into the mix for good measure, before setting her foot back down.

Kailey breathed deeply, in through her nose and out through her mouth. From there, she stepped forward, and as she settled all of her weight on her left foot she lifted her right heel off of the ground. She let her toes flow over the grassy surface, dragging through the blades. She kept her arms tucked against her chest as she moved her right leg forward through the grass, from its far off place, toward her other leg. Then ahead of it even further, as she kept her toes pointed, and pushed it up to a level with her waist, as quickly as she could- making it appear to anyone who may have been watching that she was kicking an invisible ball. When she was done, she set her foot back down, and then stepped forward with it, moving toward another set of tents. She took another step, another breath, and then another step, and allowed her left leg to perform the same manner of kick, before setting it back down, and performing a right uppercut, then a left jab, before she moved both arms back into pocket, and then jabbed outward with them both again- at the same exact time, so they ended at roughly the same moment. .

Kailey's chest rose and fell heavily. Her heart beat a little faster as she turned her arms inward, so that the lighter section of her skin, (the underside), was directed toward her face. It made her think that she was looking into a fleshy mirror, as she pulled them upward, so that each of her fists ended up above her head. From there, she moved her right arm directly across, to her right shoulder, and then out further, as though pushing someone's arm away. She then did the same with her left hand, and then pulled it back along with the right, back into pocket. Kailey stepped forward as she breathed inward, and jabbed at the air again, before breathing out with a heavy sigh. From there, she quickly whipped her right arm forward, causing it to cut across her chest in a blocking position. She then pushed it outward a little, to create a bit of space in which she could move, and employ some of the other attacks and movements she had left within her arsenal. She imagined that her opponent's arm hovered before her in the air.

Kailey breathed deep as she ducked, and pictured herself coming out under it. Grabbing it with each of her hands, on either side of the wrist as she pushed her body back and under that of her opponent. She tightened her grip with her right hand around the wrist, while the left slid upward toward the shoulder, and then, snaked past it to the outside. She pushed the arm as far as it would go, locking the arm between it and her hand as she clamped inward with it. Bringing the imaginary arm against her own arm and he own shoulder. She bent her legs at the knees more furiously, and then lowered herself into a near squat, pushing her but out as she arced her back and then jerked with both arms, pulling her imaginary opponent onto it. When she bore their weight, she quickly pushed up against her feet, causing her to bounce and begin straightening out her legs. By now, her imaginary opponent was hovering a few inches above the ground, dangling from her back. She pulled the arm she held inward, across her chest toward her left hip. As she did this, she rolled her back, so that her imaginary opponent rolled with her, and off her hip, onto the cold, hard ground.

Kailey smiled as she allowed the arm to unravel, but maintained her grip upon her imaginary opponent's wrist. From there, she simply followed them down, straddling them as she kept them in place, and raining punches down upon them. Jab after jab to the face one after the other, until she had heavily bruised them, and drawn a little blood. She almost thought she could smell it as she got up off the ground, brushed the little bits of dirt and grass off her clothes, and then returned to the mirror of her original starting position. From there, Kailey took a deep breath in through her nose and out through her mouth as she gathered her wits about her, and allowed her body to catch its breath and begin returning to a state of equilibrium. She wiped some sweat from her brow with the back of her hand, and smiled as she stepped forward, performing a series of uppercuts, starting with her right hand. Then following up with the left as it returned to the pocket position, then back to the right when the left finished and it was moving back into the pocket position, so that her fists and her arms never brushed, and she never hurt herself by mistake.

OOCThe throw is iponsionagi. (I am not sure on spelling). It's a basic judo throw- I am thinking I will have her employ aspects of that discipline,a s well as tai chi and tae kwon dao.

And sorry it's a bit awkward with the imaginary bits- I write the same way for Tal too, sometimes. Unfortunately. :/

One Punch, Two Punch (Solo)

When Kailey felt as though she had exhausted the movement a few minutes later, she decided to go ahead and do something else. She wanted to practice her kicks again, and thought on one to perform for a moment, before setting back to work. From the starting position, she pushed her body around from the waist up, as she pivoted on her left foot, and swept her right leg around in a roundhouse kick. She was sure to keep her toes pointed as at the same time, she jabbed at the air, quickly with the right and then the left hand. The momentum was too much though, and she toppled over onto her behind. She giggled like the little girl that she was still inside. Her eyes glimmered as she got herself up off the ground, and began again, this time, without adding the punches into the mix of things. As all that seemed to do was make a great big mess, which she could work on unscrambling later. This time, she had a lot more luck with the kick, and didn't fall on her behind during the process. She smiled, and repeated the process with the opposite side.

From there, Kailey slipped back into the starting position, and then guided her left arm upward, as though knocking away someone's arm. Then she stepped forward, and moved the same arm out to the side of her body, again, as though she were blocking the progression of her opponent's movements. Then, she did the mirror of this action- by performing it with the right, to block another attack as she raised her left leg at the same time. Bending it at the knee as she guided it toward her chest, and then pushed it outward, on a diagonal line, ahead of her. She let the leg straighten out for the most part, as she kept her toes pointed upward, at the sky, so that she would finish a kick that would knock the air out of her opponent, as they met with the sole of her sandal-clad foot. When she was done with the kick, she gingerly retracted her leg, making sure to move fast enough that the movements were fluid, but not so fast that the momentum knocked her over. She then set her foot back on the ground, and stepped forward, while raising her right arm, and keeping it at a diagonal across her chest, that she pushed forward, as though knocking an opponent's arm away again.

Then, Kailey stepped forward again, and repeated the process with her remaining hand, knocking another imaginary arm aside. She smiled as her eyes glimmered, and she stepped forward again, moving her fists on ahead as she did so, so that she completed a series of fluid jabs. Then she drew both of her hands back into pocket, before turned abruptly upon her heels so she wouldn't meet with a tent, and jabbing the air again the instant she had turned with her right hand first, and then the left. Then she pulled her hands back again, and completed a series of uppercuts into the air directly ahead of her- first with one arm, and then the other, over and over again, until her arms really began to ache from exhaustion, and she determined that she was done practicing for now. She let her hands fall, her body to sag a little as she gasped for air, and then wiped some sweat from her brow with the back of her hand, and flicked it onto the grass. Practice, she found, was difficult, but worth it, as eventually it meant that you made things perfect, (or pretty darn close), and the idea excited her.

Kailey liked the idea of being good as something, and as her stomach rumbled, she decided she would be good at eating, and went over to her bag to find something to snack on..

Notes

Hi, Kailey; great little thread. Be careful not to overplay her strengths, I don't think you did this, but sometimes edged towards it. I'd like to see Kailey doing this kind of training with an NPC or PC where she has an actual target as to earn the rewards she really does need to 'land a blow', however I was kind this time around. Enjoy the rewards and be sure to edit your grading request!
