Maverick Seer, 1st of Fall 513 AV
"I Would Be Your Guardian, If You Would But Ask."
Mizahar is a land wrought with chaos and destruction. When you’re likely to encounter a pack of predators, a gang of brigands, or even hideous monsters hewn from the earth itself, then it’s not all that absurd to recognize that very few people in the modern world know of or much less understand -or even begin to comprehend- the massive scope of the world that surrounds them. Indeed, many individuals can and do go a lifetime without ever exploring what surrounds their small, protected, bubbles of civilization.
The blue eyes of the squire, Maverick Seer glossed over the fairly new next with a focused, content intent. His patron had sent his charge to the archives this day with only one imperative: learn about Sylira.
"Come back to me when you can tell me more about Sunberth than that it has no rule of law. Return to me when you understand that Ravok is dangerous not because its people practice the tenets of chaos, but because they structure their own lives and seek to corrupt and dominate those of others. We’ll be training every day, but after and before training I want you studying these things,” the older man has said to his pupil, before he had sent the fifteen-year old off in the direction of the massive library.
Understandably, Maverick had been a bit overwhelmed. A city was one thing, but as the text the squire now held so aptly suggested, a region was an entirely different beast to try and dissect. Nevertheless, the blue eyed teen also had and did find himself enthralled with the idea of returning to more intellectual pursuits. Maverick understood that his brain, his intellect had always been his own strong suit. Although for the past long while, the teen and his mentor had only recently been focusing on the physical aspects of being a knight. Study rather than nonstop training was a niece change of pace.
In reality, the world is actually quite an expansive place. There are six large continents that engulf and surround the Suvan Sea; Taldera, Sylira, Cyphrus, Falyndar, Eyktol and Kalea. There are also various island nations that float in the waters of the sea itself.
Maverick’s eyes lingered over the mention of Cyphrus. The homeland of his mother’s family line, the land of the Drykas had always fascinated the boy. Of course, the tome he now held was clearly and prominently titled The Sylira Region and what he was now reading was only an introduction. It was unlikely that a book on one continent would venture beyond the simple mention of another. Making a mental note to pursue his interest, the boy continued to delve into the simply-titled book.
