5th of Fall, 515 AV

The sun was shining warmly through the open gateway as Daresh drummed his ink stained fingers on the table. The table held an open book, filled with Daresh's chicken scratch, an inkwell, and a quill. The book was filled with recordings of citizen complaints, it was a little messy but legible. Nothing of value could really be gained from the reading, most of the complaints were just people who didn't like the idea of the disruption that the new construction would cause. All he had really been able to do was assure them that steps were being taken to make sure the transition went as smoothly as possible. Mostly it just resulted in the citizens screaming more and eventually storming off in a huff.

Daresh rolled his shoulders and sighed, sitting here in his armor all day was causing some stiffness. This wasn't exactly what Daresh had expected when he had volunteered for this duty. Daresh wasn't entirely sure what he had expected this to be like, but this definitely wasn't it. Daresh stood up and stretched before resuming his seat and looking around hoping for something to do.

Addressing Concerns

Nivel didn’t have any duties scheduled for the day and figured today would be good as any to do some studying or at least do some training in her knightly skills. As she briskly traversed the starkly lit hallways towards one of the area’s she could be productive, she ran past a very large tall folk male sitting a desk. She couldn’t be sure but he looked like he was in need of cheering up. She didn’t know what kind of day he could have had to make his face slump so much but she hoped she would be able to brighten his day a little before she went on her way.

There was no point trying to talk to him from the cold ground so he would have to climb the impressively tall piece of furniture he happened to be sitting in front of. She didn’t want to make it too easy and just pull herself up to the top by stretching her ams like little grappling hooks, she would have to do things like a squirrel. She leapt at one of the legs and gave it a tight hug and slowly moved her limbs to pull her self up. The slightly rough texture of the wood allowed her relatively decent grip but it was still quite an ordeal to get all the way up the leg post. After a good struggle she grew impatient and pulled herself the remainder of the way.

“Boo!” Nivel half shouted half giggled as she quickly back flipped onto the table which caused the table to shake a bit. “Did I scare you?” She probably wasn’t too quiet going up the leg of the of the table but she tried her best to keep her grunts of exertion to a minimum throughout the ordeal.
“Just keeping a fellow member of the order alert.” She shifted her tiny head quickly to each side comically “One never know what lurks around each corner”
She walked along the table towards the bearded man “My name is Nivel, what might yours be good sir?”

She glanced over at the open book full of notes and doodles, becoming instantly curious of its contents. “Oh what are you writing?” Her tails swaying and rippling about as she looked over the notes intrusively. She couldn’t quite understand what was written in the slightest but a lot of the notes seemed to be talking about horrible noise.
“Is their some kind of creature making a horrible racket?” She asked with a hint of genuine concern but was mostly just confused.

Daresh had been paying attention to his surroundings but the little four inch figure had escaped his notice. When the eight pound pycon jumped onto the table however it shifted slightly. It confused Daresh at first and he looked under the table but spotted nothing, the thick table leg blocking the pycon from view. Sitting up he looked around confused before seeing the little pycon flip up onto the table. Daresh was mildly surprised at the cute little pycon before him on the table and chuckled as the clay person moved around speaking to him.

"Ser Daresh Talir", Daresh said to Nivel as he chuckled. "It is a log of complaints from the citizens. They are mostly worried about the noise it will make", Daresh explained as he looked down at the little woman glancing over his book. Daresh knew that there were several Pycon members of the order, had even seen them from time to time. They weren't exactly common though and he honestly thought they were too adorable to take them very seriously.

“Nice to meet you Ser Deresh” Nivel replied politely with a gentle curtsy of of her twin tails.
“Ah I see, That makes far more sense..” The pycon replied in response to Deresh’s correction. She paused for a moment as she ran through what little information she knew about the construction that was going on. “What is this construction for? I know that it involves water but thats the extent of knowledge.” Nivel knew water was essential to most if not all living things but she thought that there was plenty of water to find in the city if you knew where to look.

“Are they making some kind of lake in the city or a home for people that breath water?” Nivel continued her interrogation. The pycon didn’t find these ideas too appealing since she would certainly sink if she were to ever fall into any body of water, But they did find them interesting nonetheless.

“Aww okay” Nivel knoded as the knight gave his explanation. “Would you mind if I keep you company, this job is far to dull to have to do on your own.” It probably wasn’t her place to pester him while he was doing his job but she really did feel like he would be better off with someone else around to help him deal with the citizens complaints. She felt another should have been assigned to this task instead of just one solitary knight dealing with floods of negativity being thrown at him.

“Would you mind if I do some mild training? Nothing dangerous just meditation and maybe a bit of acropatics and dance. If you feel the need you could provide me some constructive criticism…especially on the dancing. I’m not very good and the friend that was teaching me move Alvadas.” The pycon’s ears dropped a bit in sadness at another one of her friends leaving. although unlike her mount Patcha, The dancer had parted ways on good terms.

Addressing Concerns

Daresh found himself smiling as understanding dawned on Nivel's face. Some might consider it rude but Daresh just couldn't help himself, the pycon was just so adorable. Daresh let Nivel finish speaking as he watched her with starry eyes.

"Well one of the engineers says he can set it up so the public toilets will be filled with water and by pulling a lever it will drain the water and take the waste with it. Also it will give allow us to get running water in all of the apartments", Daresh explained making hand motions to try and explain the water movements. It honestly all sounded like magic to him but the engineer swore it was all just science. Either way Daresh couldn't wait for the project to get finished, having access to water in his quarters without needing to lug it there in a pail sounded absolutely wonderful.

Nivel wasn't wrong when she said this duty was to dull to do on his own, Daresh could have sworn there was supposed to be another knight here to assist him. Normally a knight would just bring his squire but Daresh hadn't taken a squire in the five years since he became a knight. It was a bit of an oddity really but knights weren't exactly forced to take squires so it wasn't unheard of for a knight to not have one. Daresh was honestly afraid of training a squire, afraid that his darker qualities would come out. That he would mess some poor kid up as bad as his father messed him up. At the thought of his father Daresh's right hand went to left forearm. It wasn't visible under the armor but Daresh had a large burn mark where his father had decided to put out his pipe on his son one drunken night. Then Nivel spoke again and Daresh was back, the solemn look in his eyes disappearing as if it had never been present.

"Not at all little one, just be careful", Daresh said smiling once again as he capped the inkwell. Setting the inkwell near the edge of the table and closing the book so as to give Nivel room to move. Daresh was by no means an expert on dancing, or had any real experience with it what so ever, but he would do his best to help his new little friend.

Addressing Concerns

Nivel listened as Daresh explained the changes that would be happening in syliras soon, and all the information was so interesting that that it caused her tails to spasm. It sounded like these engineers were doing a potent combination of Reimancy and Voiding to rid the city of waste and to summon water into peoples homes. The knight tried to explain the process to Nivel but she knew the subject of magic was lost on him. Water dosen’t just carry waste away and appear in peoples houses without magic involved, Nivel was positive of this fact. She knew she would have to politely interrogate some of these “engineers” to learn their secret magics, so she too could aid the city in different ways.
“That is quite fascinating” Nivel happily shook her head in affirmation "What do you know of these engineers?” She was certain that Daresh wouldn’t know too much but any information was bound to be useful.

“I’ll start with meditation, It’s a very useful in situations like this.” Nivel explained after she got the go head to do her various activities. “hearing peoples concerns can be stressful and draining so it’s good to know how to relax and clear your Nexus.”
Nivel eased herself into a seated position on the flat wooden table and closed her visual receptors off to the rest of the world. “Feel free to join in if you want, It’s not just for mages.”
Nivel started with deep breaths, letting the air rush inside her “Breath in” and then letting it out slowly. “An ouuuuut.”
Her body was already relax after a few breaths but she kept up the process, mostly for Daresh’s benefit. “Just let all your stresses go”
Nivel figured if she was going to do this with a Tall Folk present she should try it the way her Patron had taught her.
“Okay now that your Nexus is relaxed, we put all our focus on our feet.” Nivel stated calmly as she followed her own instructions “Then slowly move up the body, giving every part of you equal attention.” Nivel had gotten up to her lower torso when her nexus was startled from it’s tranquility by the stamping of a cane against the stone ground.

The pycon looked to see a shrivel faced women that seemed to be stuck in the most unsettling frown Nivel had ever encountered. She was only a little taller than the desk because of her unfortunately hunched back, but her sporadic grey hair made up for what she lacked in hight.
“Ar ye slackin’ on the job…Shoulda known” The unpleasant women grumbled revealing her sparse yellow teeth in the process. “ey ave a complaint for ye”
“We weren’t sleeping, just mediating.. Well I know I was” Nivel quickly chimed in, not out of offence but to state a fact. “ But if you have a complaint we'll be more than happy to hear it”
The shrivelled old women let out a corse huff of air out of her mouth and her face seemed to twist into an even more unpleasant one.
“All tis Noise making that’s happenen’ needs ta stop right away, my husband can’t stand it, I can’t stand it, ta city was great the way it was why yer need to mess with tings when they ain’t BROKEN?!” She slammed her cane down.
