Joanna drank the last of her coffee and worked to complete her roll as Ferrin spoke. He was adamant about the training, and she was happy to oblige. It would be fun. The only concern she had was going to hard on him. Her own trainer would make her do laps until the light of the next day. She remembered coming home after every lesson with every inch of her body numb. She might not go to such extremes with Ferrin.

"I'm pretty sure, that I can keep up with the time schedule. Oh um, maybe if your up to it, we can possibly visit the Stone Gardens? I haven't seen it before and have been told that the place is something."

The Stone Gardens? She hadn't heard of them before. Joanna knew very little of the town outside its rules and regulations. And the famous spa. "I don't see why not." She said before taking another bite of her meal. It sounded pleasant, at least. Though, how you grew stones was a mystery to her. Surely, a garden would be restricted to plants, herbs, and vegetables. What benefit would a stone garden have?

She shook the thought out of her head and listened on. "Do you mind if I tip the waiter?" Again, she was shocked by his manners. "By all means." She said, returning his smile.

Before long, the two were done with their meals. The sun had stretched up higher into the sky now, casting brighter shades of light on the city. The stones looked warmer, more radiant. It was a shame, though, that it was so cold on such a bright, sunny day. Thankfully, Joanna's armor kept her shielded from the elements. At least it wasn't a swealtering summer day. On days like that, her suit of armor turned into a personal sauna.

"Where are these Stone Gardens, then? I think I'm fairly interested in them myself." She was happy she made a good friend today. Ferrin was a very curious person, and she was intent on finding out more about him.

Ferrin

Politeness is certainly the key to unlocking the door. Ferrins mother always told him that he should be kind to others and respect their values. Ferrin has believed that this is something that he should follow.

If you respect another person you will hopefully gain that respect back. And if not then you shouldn't be around that person anymore if they do not respect you for who you are.

Ferrin fished out a few Gold Mizas, he felt something else in his cloak pocket. His locket. He decided to take that out as well. But just to look at. Joanna asked him where the Stone Gardens are located.

"Oh, I was told that they are within the Jordan District. Close to the Kovas Wishing Well. The well seems interesting to, but I have been told that it could be suspiciously... Strange to put it foresay." Ferrin took his bow and began getting ready to leave his seat.

Ferrin decided to put the locket back into his pocket. Since he never really did left it out if his grasp. Ferrin quite couldn't put his finger on to why the well is so mysterious. Maybe it is because he hasn't been too Sylrias long enough. "So Joanna, or do I have to call you captain?" Ferrin smiled a teasing smile. Trying to be funny.

He picked up his bow and quiver of arrows and slung them around his shoulders, his sword still belted to his waist. "Would you like to take my hand through the streets?" His faced felt warm, hopefully Joanna couldn't see his blush.

Just looking at Joanna wanted Ferrin to feel all at home. Everything about her is as magnificent as a wonderful view of the mountainside. "And maybe if it isn't late enough we can go wherever you would want to go and check out?"

Joanna couldn't hold back her smile as Ferrin suggested to call her "captain". She'd never been referred to as a superior before by those she knew. It wasn't uncommon for people on the street to mistake her and her armor set to belong to the Knight, despite not fitting their dress code, but none of her friends had ever given her the title of authority. Of course, the prospect wasn't entirely unpleasant. She had always considered herself to be a more maternal figure, doing all she can to help those she cares about, and not as a powerful, all-controlling overseer. Still, she would accept the title.

"Captain Familiaris. I like it." She chuckled, joking back. A sly look stretched across her face. "I guess I should refer to you as my pupil, then... Apprentice Ferrin, huhuhu."

"Would you like to take my hand through the streets?" The Kelvic sighed, a blush seeping into her cheeks. It was difficult to decipher Ferrin's kind gestures. Was it just an act of generosity, or something more? Was it him looking for affection? She was thinking too hard about it. He was a good man, and she wouldn't second guess it. It was a dishonor to him, and herself, to assume the worst.

"Of course" She said warmly, taking his hand in hers. She let herself get led back into the streets where the morning crowd had finally died down to the steady mid-day stream of merchants, workers, guards, and citizens going about their daily business. None of them seemed to be paying attention to the pair as they cut through the crowd. They were far too preoccupied. Joanna felt a bit more confident, with the crowds being so thin. Her Kelvic nature made it difficult to be surrounded by strangers with no clear route of escape.

" [...] maybe if it isn't late enough we can go wherever you would want to go and check out?"

There weren't alot of places in the city she knew by name. The spa and cafes, of course, but she wasn't too interested in exploring them at the moment. Maybe something relaxing, like a nice brew. Of course, it was a little too early to be drinking.

"Maybe later today we can visit the pubs. If it's not too busy. I hear there's quite a good selection at... uhm... the Roaring... Reaching..." she struggled to recall the name. "The uh... something Stallion." It's reputation preceded the name, apparently. But aside from good brew, they also had a few more recreational indulgences that Joanna felt a growing desire to partake in. She thought over this as they drew closer to the Garden.

Ferrin

They reached the Stone Gardens. In the Jordon District. The way Syliras organized the city, inputs curious thoughts into Ferrins mind. 'How come the government decided to separate each portion of the city by districts?' 'People seem to cope with it, but don't they ever question the idea(s)?'

The Stone Gardens. Now what can Ferrin remember about the information given to him about these Gardens? Think Ferrin, remember. 'Oh I got it now. Didn't someone say that these Gardens represent the fallen heroes of Syliras? A trail of carefully placed stones spread for a mile or so along a trail of cobblestone for walking.

Ferrin listens to Joanna, as she replies to where they should meet later on through the day. "Maybe later today we can visit the pubs. If it's not too busy. I hear there's quite a good selection..." Her words stumbled a bit as if she is trying to come up with the right ones. "Oh I think you mean the um, Rearing Stallion."

The Rearing Stallion. Ferrin heard little of this tavern. But he wanted to give it a shot. "I don't mind visiting the tavern for an afternoon meal." He smiled. "Or should I finish it with Captain? Since you are going to be my trainer?" His cheeks flushed pink on both sides. 'What does Joanna think of me? did it seem childish, maybe it was wrong to say it like that?' Thoughts pondered through his mind.

He does not know if he should change the subject or not. He is probably making Joanna feel a bit uncomfortable. He decides to change the thought weather if it was the right thing to say. "The Stone Gardens, I've remembered little from what I have been told. But I think it is a place where they honor the heroes of Syliras who have passed in battle or service. The stones represent the soldiers. I think. "

The stones look ask so similar in shape and size. Not one of them are different. Maybe the Knighthood recorded their deaths? And just didn't have the time to make different Grave Stones for each passed soldier.

They strolled along the trail, Ferrin felt sorry for the Knights who have passed during battles/wars. If he joined the Knighthood, would he end up the same way? Its too early to decide. After a few ticks of walking through the trail. Ferrin felt that they should leave the Stone Gardens, feeling a bit uncomfortable.

He wondered if Joanna wanted to leave as well? Ferrin would gladly leave this doleful, possibly... what was the word? Maybe, magnificent? Or interesting. Depends on someones perspective.

The young hunter felt excited though, to come to the fact. That he has someone that can improve his fighting ability. And he has met a new friend, one that he seems that he can get along with. What do the fates have in mind for Ferrin?

A Wild Autumn Wind (Ferrin)

The Stone Garden felt aptly named, as the rows of chiseled rock stretched like fields of wheat and barley. The sun was starting to dip down past the walls of the city, but enough light was streaming over the ramparts and casting white-gold glimmer across the rocks. It gave the garden a somber, yet uplifting mood. It was almost too peaceful, though. Like it misplaced. Joanna couldn't put words to it, but the best she could describe it was a sense of loss shrouded by false joy. Maybe it was her own fault she felt such oddness being there. She decided to push aside her slight discomforts and simply enjoy the scenery.

Joanna was deep in thought when Ferrin spoke. "Oh I think you mean the um, Rearing Stallion." She was stunned at first, having lost the context for their conversation. It took her a moment, but she eventually pieced together what he had said. "Oh! Yes, you're right. They're quite well known, even in some of the other lands." Syliras had a lot to live up to, with everything she had heard during her travels through Mizahar.

"I don't mind visiting the tavern for an afternoon meal. Or should I finish it with Captain? Since you are going to be my trainer?" He spoke with a smile, and Joanna felt inclined to return it. "Let us go together. It's always good to have a meal with good company" She let out a chuckle and patted him on the back.

As Ferrin explained the gardens, Joanna felt her initial feelings much more justified. This was more of a graveyard than a garden with the rows of stones now turning to tombstones in her mind. The scenic landscape suddenly felt very, very hostile. She did not belong here. Her eyes were wider than usual, tinged with trace amounts of fear and anxiousness. This feeling... it made a pit in her stomach. Like something had just gouged out her insides. What was this? It was like... it was like the dead were watching her, judging her, standing just behind her with their gaze boring a hole into her brain. She could feel her sins crawling on her back.

"It's a v-very beautiful place" Joanna said quietly, trying to hide her anxiety. Her fingers were trembling and her legs shuddered. "But I'm starting to get a little chilly. Let's retreat inside. I think a strong brew could warm us up." She took Ferrin by the hand and led them out of the Garden with a little too much haste. She didn't really care at that point. She just wanted to get out of the strangeness. And once they were back on the main road, Joanna calmed down again.

She turned to Ferrin with an apologetic gaze"S... sorry. It's just so cold out here. This armor doesn't seem to be doing too much to block out the chill. Come, let's enjoy the rest of the day" She beamed a bright smile at him and walked with him towards the heart of the City, thinking on what they had done today. She was happy to have made a new friend, and one with such refined tastes and attitude. They would have fun together, that was for sure. The future looked bright. For now.

Ferrin

The winds blew frantically. Making Ferrin shiver while thinking about the poor lost of the soldiers who fought for the home of their city. Nevertheless, Ferrin was glad that Joanna wanted to exit this doleful, yet honorable... Honorable is a good word right? Or maybe its more as a service recognition?

Well whatever it is Ferrin didn't appreciate the fact of how wlevery dead soldier was represented by a small stone. Each and every one was the same, though others were growing mold from the weather. As well from the aging of the stones themselves.

"Let us go together. It's always good to have a meal with good company" Ferrin never felt any happier with Joannas' agreement. "Oh thank the Gods you agreed, this place is giving me the creeps in a way." Ferrin smiled, a bit freaked though trying to keep his cool.

"It's a v-very beautiful place." Joanna spoke with a quiet tone. "Um, yes... I presume so." Ferrin replied calmly trying not to release the phobia if being afraid of ghosts. It might be embarrassing that one can be scared of ghosts, but Ferrin doesn't appreciate the fact that they are just specters that can float around and spook people. Especially the malicious spirits.

"But I'm starting to get a little chilly. Let's retreat inside. I think a strong brew could warm us up." Ferrin nodded and smiled warmly. At least things are starting to feel warmer. "Here let me lend you my cloak for the time being, your armor might not generate enough heat, but I am pretty sure that my cloak can." He smiled. Assuring Joanna that she should wear it until they reach her living quarters.

The child winds doesn't bother Ferrin as much though, the only thing that does so is the transition from the feeling to warm and toasty to chilly and cold. But after a while it does not feel as bad as one would think of this weather. Ferrin started to take off his cloak and handed it to Joanna. Hoping that she'll take it and not freeze in this weather.

"I would enjoy a nice warm cup of tea, or two! I think that we would be great friends Captain Familiaris." Ferrin blushed as he is still not used to the fact that he has to start calling Joanna "Captain." And he tried to hide the blush by smiling. 'Why do I have to be so nervous?' Ferrin thought to himself.

As of now, the fates certainly provided Ferrin a path where one can get used to. And he is glad that he had been able to run into Joanna.
