Loda enjoyed the silence between them, yet found himself missing her voice. She required of him assistance and he gladly provided it. Reaching out his hand he was slightly nervous about her claws, but just like fingers, he found her to be quite in control with them. As she grasped his hand he could feel all the things he secretly desired to know: how her skin felt, what her grip was like, did her claws cut flesh. Each of these were answered to a degree as he was able to not only safely pull her from the muck, but do so unharmed. He could feel the strength in her bone structure, as if her hands were designed to dig into someone’s flesh. He couldn’t place whether her hands were soft or whether they were rough. Perhaps it was something else about her he didn’t know about, but something eluded his senses.

Now that she was out he watched as she did her little footy mud dance and scrunched up her nose. The paint that was on her face would not leave so easily as it was a stain but he thought she was a bit attractive as she twisted her leg about. Quickly he put that aside and now that she shrugged and was ready to go, so was he. Without effort she bounded up the rock next to him and he had to take his time, not wanting to make much noise. He looked for handholds and found them considerably easier to find on this than on the cliffside. It wasn’t long before he was up to the top with her.

Savacea seemed to be collecting a few different things from about herself. Loda let her look while he took a military trained scan of the area. He segmented his sight-lines and panned about in a small circle. It didn’t take him very long before he noticed rising smoke about thirty feet away from them on the far end of the rock outcropping. There was only one, so it was likely a solitary hut belonging to a Dhani. He still didn’t want to tangle with one here, especially a big constrictor. Slowly he bent back down into the fog and put a finger to his mouth to her. With a strange symbol he tried to communicate that someone was ahead, but if she didn’t understand he just pointed forward and shook his head no. He would then point his finger to the side and showed they would go back that way. If she looked that direction, it would seem as if there were patches of moss with water between them. Little reeds lined the surface and large tuffs of grass were there. It looked like there was more mud and muck for them, but it didn’t look as deep as the path they just came across.

Loda tried to move slowly down the rock and wanted to get some distance from the hut before talking to her again. The process was a little slow, but once they were about fifty feet away he felt comfortable whispering to her. “Dhani hut. I’m pretty sure. I saw smoke rising from the fog ahead back there. What did you grab?” he climbed up onto one of the grassy embankments and sat there, waiting to see what she had for him. All around him were cattails and he intended to tell her that what they could be used for, but still his eyes scanned the area just to make sure they were not being followed.

Secrets to Remember (Savacea)

Postby Savacea Jovellana on July 26th, 2015, 1:30 am

Savacea gave Loda a wide grin when he came up on to the rock, she was about to speak when he was doing looking around them, but he placed a finger over his mouth, so she shut it quickly. He made some motions with his hands, pointing in a different direction, she looked over and saw more muck and was a bit sad about it but nodded her head that she understood, or at least got the gist of it "Be quiet lets go that way" is what the gestures seemed to say to her.

They started walking the path and she was relieved that the mud was not as deep as before. They moved very slowly but once it seemed like Loda was comfortable enough to speak he asked her what she grabbed. He climbed up onto the grassy embankment and she followed sitting close to him, their elbows touching. She brought her pack around and pulled out the Moss and Liverwart to show him.

First she held up the Moss, "I thought since you are a warrior, that you would like to know about this Moss. It can be found in wet areas, like this. You can place it on wounds to help stop bleeding as it is very absorbent. Also it is good for the irritation of insect bites." She supplied about the plant, not mentioning that it could also be turned into a poison. She still was unsure how he would feel about that one, so she placed the Moss back into her pack and brought out the Liverwart.

"This one is Liverwort, it is also common in marshes and swampy areas. These leaves here can be dried and formed into a powder for a tincture, or swallowed directly. It heals the liver but also the powder can be mixed with some water to treat skin conditions." The Symenestra supplied with a small smile, keeping her voice soft in a faint whisper. Both of the plants were easy to find and cultivate, they surrounded moistened areas, especially swamp, bogs or marshes.

Savacea brushed her legs and feet off again, really despising the muck and taking her irritation out on it on her skin. She looked over from which they came then back at Loda, he seemed to not like the Dhani at all. She wondered how dangerous this race really was and if they followed the rule of Dira or were out here eating and killing when ever they pleased. The thought made her shiver slightly, the way Loda described them on the cliff days before, they sounded like creatures she did not want to run into. Glancing away from the spot they came from she rubbed her nose, needing to sneeze. Savacea tried to hold it back but it came out, from her trying to hold it back it also came out louder then she had expected. She covered her mouth with her hand looking a bit shocked at the noise that came from her small frame, hoping she did not alert anything to their where about.

Secrets to Remember (Savacea)

Savacea would find as she sat next to Loda, that he was a bit hotter to the touch. Previously he had been in the sunlight and his skin soaked it up like a warm blanket that had been sitting next to the fire. It was now cooling off now that the fog had sprung up about them, but for now he was fairly warm to the touch. He watched not only around them, but to what she was doing as she slung her pack around.

She produced some things which he had seen before, but he didn’t know them. He used them many times for various mundane uses like packing holes or to make a bed slightly more comfortable, but the moss didn’t last very long before it started to feel strange. He rather preferred his pole bed; a flat bed made of simple poles, tied together with cordage. As she explained what it was, it was like a breath of fresh air to hear her voice again. The swamp could be very stifling when it was silent; even though it was never truly silent. There was always a bug somewhere calling out like an annoying alarm.

He listened as she explained what the moss was used for. “This? I’ve used this tons of times...I’ve never realized it is for wounds.” he laughed “Let alone bug bites. I could always use more things for that.” He wondered if there was a way to make it. “Do I have to do anything for it to work? Do I have to make a paste out of it? Or can I put it on it just plainly?”

“Liverwort”, he whispered, just to make sure. Her voice was soft, and for good reason, as Dhani had great senses, even the scent of smell. Fortunately for them the fog was helping and the breeze was coming from the east. “Skin conditions huh? Very neat. Just like blotchy skin or yellow skin?”

He waited until she told him and watched her brush her legs. Even the simple motion kept catching his eye. He was trying to keep a look out for them but she kept distracting his eyes, making his military scan now that he was doing fail miserably. Sure it was just cleaning muck off her legs, but women didn’t really have to do much to get men thinking.

He went back to scanning for a moment and then heard her sneeze. He looked at her shocked and blinked a couple times. With a quick movement the man jumped into the water, snagging her hand as gently as he could and began putting as much distance between the Dhani’s house and them. A few moments later he paused to listen. They were about fifteen feet from where they were. He bid her silence with another finger. Straining to hear, suddenly out of the empty sound of the marsh came a splash. Loda knew what it was from past experience.

A bit slower now Loda moved him and Savacea to a nearby bush and literally went right into it. He licked his finger really quick to make sure the wind was for them and they’d be downwind, fortunately for them they were. The bush was thick and viney, much like the one they had made their wreaths from, however there were twigs that poked them as they went into the middle of it. Loda went first for her sake to take the brunt of the scrapes and scratches, but then pulled her inside.

He couched down and bid her to do the same. He pulled her close, wrapping warm arms about her, not out of anything but protection and stealth. If she was breathing too hard, he would put a hand up over her mouth. Sure enough as they sat in the muck that lined the bottom of the bush, a dhani came slithering through the water. It was a snake probably larger than she had seen, and sure enough it was in its snake form, trying to detect whatever made that sound. Though it was sudden, a Dhani wouldn’t hesitate to see what it can eat near its home if it hears something out of the ordinary.

The long lithe body slithered through the wetter parts of the marshland, making its way toward where they were, but it seemed it was having trouble locating them or their scent trail. Loda thanked the Gods for the wind blowing their scent away from the beast. As they sat there Savacea could perhaps appreciate how still Loda could become. While there were much more stealthy people in the jungles, he could at least remain still for a while longer than the next man who knew nothing about it.

He held her to his chest and hardly breathed. His darker arms that wrapped around her, hid the dark snake from seeing the white of her skin. Their masks and wreaths fit perfectly in the bush and it was a very fortunate encounter. Eventually the snake slithered back toward its house, yet as it did so, it began to change back to a more humanoid form, one that walked through the muck and mud and eventually a creaky door could be heard in the distance open and shut. It was at that time Loda slid his arms from about her, slowly freeing the woman.

"I think we are okay now." He nodded and looked around them through the bush's leaves.

Secrets to Remember (Savacea)

When she displayed the Moss to him, he explained how he had used it before just never in the way she explained, laughing. She relished in his voice and laughter, realizing how addictive the sound was after going so long with out it. His warm skin pressed against hers and it felt nice, even in the heat of summer she liked the contact and temperature of it. He then asked if he had to make anything with it, she nodded and softly spoke "For wounds you can just pack it into the wound, because it is so absorbent it will soak up the blood making a natural clot. For skin conditions it is best to make a paste with it, to apply it to the skin, maybe even mix some Wraiths Mint in with the paste because the mint is so calming and relaxing it could help soothe the irritation of insect bites.. Although you have to be careful if you brew it down, as some types of Moss holds poisonous attributes. This type doesn't though so no worries." She did not realize she mentioned poison until after she said it and almost gasped in shock, she fumbled a bit as he moved to the next topic hoping he did not think nothing of it.

Savacea nodded as he spoke of Liverwort, "Yes like those types of skin conditions, though the name implies 'Liver' so it is best suited for that." She anxiously explained the Liverwort in a hushed whisper, hoping he did not ask about the poisons. She was not sure how well he would accept her being a poison crafter, not many people would she supposed.

The sneeze seemed to startle Loda and made his instincts work in over drive, he snatched her hand being as gentle as he could though she could feel a bruise already forming underneath the surface. They jumped into the water, moving as quickly as possible from the area that they were just at. Loda paused all of a sudden making Savacea bump into him slightly as he raised his head to listen, bidding her to be quiet with a finger. She complied a bit frightened from all the rush he was making, not sure what was going on. She could her hear heart beating against her chest in her ears. The marsh seemed to fall under a terrible eerie silence, then out of no where a splash could be heard.

Loda seemed to know what it was and he moved slower, placing him and Savacea near a bush. going right into the bush she observed Loda licking his finger and sticking it in the air. She was not sure why he did this, but he seemed to know what he was doing. The bush appeared to be thick and full of vines, with twigs that came up to poke their skin as they made their way through it. Poor Loda took the brunt of it, but Savacea ended up with a few scratches on her legs as well, wincing slightly at the stinging it caused.

The warrior pulled the Symenestra inside, crouching down and gesturing for her to do the same. She crouched down as well, wobbled slightly then righted herself. Then he pulled her close and her already racing heart beat faster at the contact. Loda wrapped his warm arms around her petite body and she found that she enjoyed this gesture more so then she probably should have. She felt protected in his arms, hidden from the danger they just ran from. Savacea snuggled a little closer to the man, though his arms were large and her body small, so she seemed to be hidden in his stealthy embrace. His hand came around and was placed on her mouth, to help silence her heavy breathing.

Then a large snake came slithering up from the water, if it was not for Loda's hand upon her mouth she may of gasped from the sight of the thing. Then her mind quickly wondered to poison again, as she wondered if the Dhani had venom and if it could be harvested for the art of crafting it into a poisonous potion. The warrior was being so still, it was amazing. Savacea herself was only stilled by his strong and steady arms, if they were not in place for balance she feared she would topple over from the fright of that large snake. She pressed herself closer to his chest, his heart beat a steady rhythm as he controlled his breathing. The snake finally left, though as it did so it transformed into a more human appearance making Savacea frown slightly. Though the thoughts of the Dhani slipped away as Loda's arms slid from around her. She almost protested but stopped herself, she repeated in her head that she could not afford the luxury and that the man though trusted more so then the first time they met, was still not trustworthy completely, she still did not know enough about him just yet.

She sighed softly either way though, missing his arms but shook it off once again as his voice said that they were okay. She nodded and gave a half smile at him, "Thanks..and I am sorry." She whispered, thanking him for getting her out of danger and protecting her, she mumbled the sorry part feeling badly about herself, blaming herself for the mess she just caused.

She looked down at his legs and saw the cuts and scrapes that were leaking blood. They did not seem too deep, just a contusion. She looked at her own blood seeping out from the small scratches, that also did not seem to be a big deal. Savacea then looked at the top of her hand, where a small brush from a pad of a finger was forming on it. It hurt a little and she wiggled it, brushing the faint brush that would be an ugly purple and brown tomorrow. She glanced back up to Loda, "Are you okay?" She asked, worry present in her eyes as well as her voice as she looked him over once again.

Loda likewise felt amiss with her no longer in his arms. His fingers betrayed him, letting the last bit of her skin pull away. His hands closed now that she was gone and he missed how she almost seemed to snuggle up against him. She could have been a Myrian woman for all his senses could tell, but now it was over. He shook his head to her thanks.

“It’s fine.” he looked to himself and looked at the small scratches. They didn’t seem too bad but it was more his back that looked a bit scratched up as he backed into the bush. Savacea looked to the top of her hand as if it was hurt and he could see how she held it. She looked to him as he ushered them to move out of the bush.

“I’m okay. Did I hurt your hand?” He wanted to make excuses, to say that he tried to be gentle, but really it was her weakness that was at fault here. He had done all he could and yet they lived through it. He at least showed her kindness when others may not have of his race. He still spoke in a soft tone and figured it best they continue to head out further from the dhani.

Upon exiting the bush he would stand up fully, leveling his spear at his side once more. It was good that Loda didn’t face a Dhani right now as he was very stubborn in his anger toward them. Everything they said or did seemed to enrage him, so as to not invoke Dira’s wrath, he chose to hide. Now he grinned lightly, reaching out to gently fix the wreath upon her head that had been pushed off-base by the bush. “Did you get cut by the bush at all?” With that he looked her over, examining her body fully. He could see some scratches and scrapes, but nothing too bad. He then cupped a hand under the wrist of the hand she was nursing. Loda sympathetically looked at it and then without sympathy strengthened himself and her.

“We should get moving… It could still smell us if the winds change, though I doubt they will. I still don’t want to be near here and have a confrontation; even if Dira is here watching us.”

He would begin to move a bit through the swamp, showing her his back, though it being covered by hair, she could only see some of the scratches that were upon it. His short spear’s end dragged in the water behind him and as he went, he made sure she was capable to follow. He now felt more comfortable having her at side, though he was nervous that she didn’t fully comprehend the dangers even on this island. They were now in uncharted territory, where ghosts and strange beings wandered.

Secrets to Remember (Savacea)

Postby Savacea Jovellana on July 26th, 2015, 5:10 am

He replied that he was okay and she smiled, happy he was not hurting or in pain because of her. Then he asked if he hurt her hand, she shook her head. It was not his fault that she was frail he was gentle and if she was a normal human it would not have left a mark at all. "It's fine I am used to it." She said in a low mumble. Indeed she was, one had to be with climbing and dancing, and the rage of a step mother. She was used to it, used to pain, even though at times she felt like she could not take much more, she did take it.

They exited the bush and Loda leveled his spear at his side, a soft grin placed on his face as he reached out to gently fix her vine crown. She gave him a grin back too, as the gesture was indeed endearing and she was a bit at a lost of words from the softness he displayed. Loda looked her over, obviously looking to see about her cuts, then cupped her hand looking at it with sympathy. She pulled her hand away, "I am fine, used to it." She nodded as her words came out softly, happy that he was ready to move on.

Loda said the thing could still smell them, so she was indeed happy to get away from the area. They moved through the swamp and Savacea swatted at some annoying insects, trying to be as quiet as possible. She wiped the sweat from her brow and looked ahead at Loda. His hair was spread out across his back, but she saw the signs of blood upon it. She inched up closer to him and noticed cuts. Her heart went out and she wanted desperately to do something about it. She went to raise her hand to brush his hair away, but then let it drop. She thought it was best to not comfort a warrior who was strong like Loda, he may see it as disrespect if she did so. So instead she dropped her hand as they entered a different part of the swamp. It was a bit more foggy in this area, goose flesh appeared out of no where on Savacea's pale skin and she rubbed it gently as a shiver ran down her spine.

She glanced at his back again, instead of suppressing herself she reached out and moved his hair out of the way. The black silk was so soft and thick in her hand as she examined his back giving a small gasp, "Loda.. your back." She said in a whisper, looking up into those intriguing brown pools that held a slight red hue, with her own eyes, searching them for a sign of pain.

Secrets to Remember (Savacea)

There was something in her actions as Savacea pulled away from him with her hand. Something that said almost for him to drop it. In light of her interest in his culture, how strong his people were, how she longed to be rid of the weakness that her race had in taking others, he considered if him mollycoddling her was something she wouldn’t want. Perhaps subconsciously he just wanted to touch her hand again, but now that was gone. He moved on and happily moved forward.

The marsh would have been quite beautiful if not for the bugs that would bite them or the mud that occasionally they would get stuck in. The water in between areas was almost a relief because you knew all the gunk on your feet would be washed off. Sunny rays would pierce through the clear, blackish water, revealing the floor that they walked on was dead leaves of an older time, yet when their feet hit the mud, it all would be concealed from them in an explosion of murk.

Loda hoped that her anger wasn’t aroused too greatly against him for bringing her out here. This was hardly a meeting of normal standards for most people in Mizahar, yet he thought she’d like it. One would almost call it a date for how they secretly were drawn to each other, but being covered in mud and bug bites would not make someone want to call it that. As they went they kept passing by reeds and cattails. It made him consider teaching her about them. Suddenly though his thoughts were interrupted by a clawed hand lightly scooping his hair to the side. It made him come to a slow stop to figure out what she was doing and he turned his head slightly to hear her gasp. Now that the sun and air hit his wounds they hurt a bit more. With a little grunt he turned to look at her in the eyes fully.

“It is fine, I’ve had worse” he held up a hand to his past injured shoulder to remind her that this pain was nothing, yet she could tell it hurt him a little bit. With a bending down of his head, he used the leverage of his back facing away from her to pull what hair she held from her hand away. "I just want to make sure you are okay. If you want to turn back we can"

In a quiet voice to distract her from his wounds, he asked “Have you learned about the cattail?” he looked over to his side at the plant that lined another tuft of grass nearby. He moved to grab the thick head of one and break it off. “Though they are not very good, you can eat this head and survive for a little while longer. It is great for starting fires as well. If you use old mans beard, some of this, and a light wood log, you can get a fire started in just about any weather condition.” He nodded, hoping the distraction was successful.

Secrets to Remember (Savacea)

Postby Savacea Jovellana on July 26th, 2015, 7:59 pm

Savacea thought about what Loda had said about him having worse. Although the cuts on his back was not fatal or that deep, they were many and it did look very painful. She supposed he did not have the luxury to feel pain, then he said he wanted to make sure she was okay. This warmed her heart, that comment sounded like he actually cared. She gave a small smile, "I don't want to turn back, this is fun." Savacea said a little shocked that he would suggest that. She was having a lot of fun, even if the murky muck was not something she cared for, being here with Loda was new and amazing.

Loda spoke in a quiet voice about the cattails up ahead, she glanced that way and nodded her head. "Though what I know and what you know may be different." She replied to his question. Loda moved to grab the thick head of one and break it off and went to explain what he knew about the cattail. He said that one could eat the head to survive, it was great for starting fires, and saying if you used the cattail the old mans beard and a light wood log that a fire could be start up in any weather condition. She nodded her head soaking up the information that he gave her.

She moved closer to him and touched the cattail with her hand, then looked up to explain to him, "The cattail roots can be used for burns and sores. But is very poisonous to grazing animals." She spoke softly as she explained what she knew of the cattail. Savacea figured her wanted to get off the topic of his back, perhaps she made him uncomfortable, but she was still worried about him and wanted to at least put something on it so it will not fester. She dropped the topic for now though and decided she would wait for the right time to say something more about it.

The smile could not leave her mouth when she spoke to him. He was a stern man, and he found it to be a poison spreading through his blood. His body fought it with all his strength, part of him felt like he really should not be smiling to her, being nice, courteous, or even caring toward to her. “She’s an enemy” his thoughts said. He almost seemed certain. As they went further into the marsh though her smile remained, causing one to almost remain upon his lips at all times. When she said that she was having fun it was as though she had bit him again and a smile coursed over his lips once more. He loved that she was so delicate, yet not.

“Yeah” he said. It seemed as both of them went on that in regards to herbalism both of them knew different things. His was more from surviving in the wild, knowing what to eat and what not to eat, and hers was more scientific; dealing with extracts, droughts, and potions more like from what he could tell. As she explained the various uses of it he was in shock that it was a poison.

“Really? A poison? I’d never have known. How could something that is good for me, be bad for another beast? They can eat grass just as I can, but why this? Is it made of something different?” He really didn’t understand how poisons worked. Myrians were able to pretty much eat or drink anything, even surviving a long time on simply blood if needed, so allergies to food and poisons just didn’t make sense.

It wasn’t that Loda didn’t know about poisons and such. He knew that they were out there and people used them, but he didn’t understand why or how it all worked. To him this was eye opening, mind blowing, and world stopping information. It was a mystery to him for a lot of his life, and many people in his tribe knew these things, but he had been so focused on proving himself to Myri and the clan that he had not spent time to think of these things. In his thoughts he came across something that had been bugging him, "You can't eat this can you? Or can you chew it? Because...you know... of the way you said you ate." He picked off at the head of the cottontail, revealing how it broke apart into a seed packed almost powder, though it was more like a dandelion puff and began to blow away in the wind. His hand dropped the rest of what he picked off into the water to float away.

He pulled a reed off from the brush and broke it off, he showed her the hollow frame of it. “This can be used as a straw. You can use it to hide under water and breathe. It can also be made into a whistle to signal troops. It sounds like a bug when you blow into it so it doesn’t usually alert many monsters or enemies.”

He began folding it to show her. Once done he put it between his lips and blew on it. It took him a couple times but then he got it to make a sound. It did kind of sound like a bug to a point, just slightly different, but it seemed to match in with the marsh’s surroundings fairly well.

“Here, you try.” he would bring his hands over to hers and bring them up gently so he could place it in her palm the correct way. The view of her claws made him want to touch them again and really explore what they felt like. He pushed it aside and just focused on teaching her how to blow into the reed. “Press it to your lips and just liiightly blow. You don’t need to blow hard.”

Additional Notes :
This was a very fun thread to read! Nothing I enjoy more than two sorta sworn enemy races with a slowly growing attraction ;) What I'll do is put any injuries or items gained in the next part of this thread grade, and if there's anything you thought I left out, exp or lore wise let me know, there was a lot of things being taught, learned, and what not here.

As always, Safe travels!
