Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Wikus couldn’t believe his eyes. The city had turned into Endrykas, everyone humping each other as if the end of the world was upon them. The disgust was real within him, almost wishing his hand to reach the whip and start strangling each and every one of them. He had never felt the pleasure of sex, and whenever he practiced it he did solely for reproduction purposes. As he watched men kissing men, touching themselves like teenagers and looking deeply within their couple’s eyes Wikus could only feel repulsion. How were they going to explain petching a man? Those… inverted had no place in the world, and their beings deserved punishment. Nevertheless, he ignored them as he had a woman to fecundate and save from this world of lunatics.

Following after his temporary companion’s example, he too decided to properly disguise himself. Removing his shirt and tugging it inside his pants, he’d wrap the whip on top to avoid his body remaining bare. Maybe one of those blue freaks would try to hump him then, which is something he didn’t want at all. Concentrating, he was thankfully at enough ink capacity to allow his tattoos to swift. They were responsive to every whim he had in store for them, yet their quality was to be poor as he had wasted ink all throughout the morning. He switched them, once by one, into random figures he imagined, far less compact than what they usually looked like. His body held way too much tattoos, so he was forced to drive most ink to his feet which now were completely black in order to scatter the tattoos of his torso. He tried to keep his gaze on the ground – eventually bouncing off to his companion’s rear and laying some silent judgement on it as the woman that had stolen his heart had one way better and way more voluminous – until his attention was claimed by a newly female.

A young girl, probably not older than fifteen winters stood beside him, watching him with her big brown eyes. In her hands he held a small bucket of flowers, and in her lips she held sweet and gentle words directed only to him. “I… I saw you this morning. I… I like you, mister!” She followed him as he himself followed his tracking tigress, which was something that annoyed him. On her nose she had a small ring, a very distinctive detail that he very much liked. Reaching out, he would carefully remove it from its owner’s nose and inspect it. Breaking the pointy bit with a thumb he would place the ring on his own nose, simply letting it hang from the tip of his nostril. Afterwards, having no use for the female, he would carelessly place a hand on her face and shove her down to the ground after he made sure he left a black handprint on the previously beautiful face. He looked back and saw that child sitting on the snow, tears running down her cheeks as her innocent heart was broken for the first time in her life. A good lesson for her.

As a last detail, he would attempt to direct some ink to his own face like Kiva did, which he barely managed as moving the ink around was harder and harder the less he held within his skin. Thus, the print was affected yet still present – a blue diamond partially formed appeared on his face. With the inked hair that was slicked back, the nose ring, the somewhat oiled beard and the face print he added as a last detail he was a complete different mind. Even his body had changed due to the different tattoos, and his clothing was somewhat different. Only the blue eyes remained, filled with an unexplainable rage only his companion could perhaps understand. Soon enough, they found themselves before a tavern door. Kiva seemed to doubt, which only made him anger even more. His body was begging for him to enter and seek the fireplace, and so did his heart as it chased the hearth that was his other half’s gaze.

Wrapping his hand behind Kiva’s waist, an act that made him feel disgust as he was directly cheating his loved one, his foot would come forth and open the door with a kick. Attempting to drag his companion beside him with a stare that warned her of not acting out of their façade, he would quickly lead the way towards the fireplace as his eyes silently scouted for his loved one. The hearth was located to the left, the counter starting directly before it and moving down half the tavern. Just at the opposite end of their new position, two individuals sat in a booth – kissing loudly and passionately, wrapping their tongues like snakes coupled, wrapping their arms against their couple’s body… It was his, no, their loved ones. Wikus felt the tears already running down his cheeks, yet not tears of sadness or heartbreak. His tears usually ran when the fury held inside him looked for a way to escape, and he often found himself crying in the midst of battle as said emotion was the only thing he could truly feel on a daily basis.

His lips quivered as he watched, yet their disguise would be broken if they simply remained in place. His hand would move to the female’s neck, lightly squishing her from behind as he leaned closer. “Order something. With quiet, understand?” Finally, he moved away from her and turned sideways to the hearth, rubbing his hands to gain some heat as his eyes remained on the target – on the man he wanted to kill and the woman he wanted to claim.

Outside the door, Kiva let her mind begin to take over, planning their next move. 'Go inside, act natural. Do we storm the place? No. Do not draw unwanted attention. When we're inside we-' The Myrian's thoughts were cut short when she felt two arms begin to snake around her waist. Immediately, she tensed, ready to throw a 'bow into the stomach of the perpetrator's chest when she twisted her neck to find Wikus... with a nose ring.

Where did he get that?

It was a new look and she gave a blink... She kinda liked it. She wanted it. Kiva opened her mouth to say something, but she was reminded of his touch once again when he gave her a warning squeeze and her eyes narrowed. This was something she didn't like. She growled softly in warning, and gripped his forearm with her own message - watch yourself. Kiva didn't appreciate the proximity, but allowed it. She had to keep the bigger picture in mind.

In ticks and without warning, her companion kicked the door open, and a waft of warm air hit them in the face. Kiva cringed. So much for being discreet. Together they entered and Kiva made sure to keep her face turned downward so that her features were still shrouded. Less than a few faces turned, most were distracted with the cups in their hands or a lover in their arms. The loud sound of kissing and heated breathing made the young woman glance upwards, spotting the pair she had been tracking, so wrapped around one another, they might have been wearing each as skin. Kiva felt a wave of nausea and then livid jealousy. Fists clenching into balls, Wikus pressed against her, whispering in her ear.

She resisted the urge to jerk away, and took a sharp inhale. When she pulled away, she did as she was told and stepped towards the bar. She waved over a waitress, or tried. The woman seemed enamored with a customer and spent the time giggling in his lap. Around her, a number of patrons were distracted with their own lover and the few that weren't seemed to have heart break stretched tight across their face, their sorrows drowning in their mugs. Finally, with heavy irritation, Kiva simply propped herself up on a stool and used the leverage to lean over the divider and grab a pitcher of dark ale that had been abandoned by the shoddy barkeep. So what if she stole? Suited the woman right. Two glasses clinked together when she struggled to grab them as well, but after a moment of straining, she leaned back with her prize. The man at the bar next to her gave her a incredulous look, but soon the dark haired woman was going to where Wikus stood, warming by the fire.

His eyes followed their target and Kiva poured herself a glass, downing it just as fast. It tasted like horse piss, and she looked at the drained contents briefly in disdain. Her eyes trailed upwards and when Wikus still focused on the pair, the Myrian began pouring two more glasses, this time walking to where the tattooed man stood anxiously. She needed to get his attention. Kiva reached out, taking his hand again, but this time putting a mug of ale in it, "Drink," she ordered gently, nodding to everyone else who seemed to have something to ingest in front of them. She took another drink of her own, about to come up with a plan when a figure caught her attention. Out in the cold, through the foggy window was a shadow of a person. The cloudy glass made it difficult for Kiva to recognize the features, but the body was thin and girlish. It's face was directed directly at them, and it was unmoving. It's face was blackened, and it watched her closely.

Kiva's eyes lingered on it a moment, before she turned to the shirtless man next to her, "We were followed?" An accusatory question, but muttered into the bitterness of her drink.

Wikus could do nothing but stare at the couple on the other end of the establishment. Being condemned to stare out there, away from his chosen one, was simply devastating. To see her tongue wrapping around another man’s, her arms wrapped onto someone else, and her presence gifted to someone other than him made him feel as if he was withering as the ticks passed. He remained in place, as that is all he could do now. He had no plan, despite trying to convince himself that the minimal attention paid to the duo when they stormed inside the locale was planned. He didn’t know how to break apart that couple, nor how to erase the memory of their lovemaking in the park or their current loud and slimy kissing. Piece by piece, he felt his heart shatter if he ever had one.

The hearth was warm, and the soreness from the cold eventually left him to reveal the sore muscles from his recent training. Soon enough, his temporary companion snapped him out of his misery by placing a mug in his hand. Meekly obeying to her order, he took a quick swig. His face flew back as it was surprised with a very strange beverage, which his mind could only qualify as bubbly and bitter. It was rather disgusting, and if it wasn’t for his obsession of remaining undercover he would have quickly spat it out. Wikus had never drank anything other than water or tea in his entire life, this being his first encounter with alcohol in his long life. He couldn’t explain how people could drink this, yet nevertheless he drank more than just a couple of times. Whenever it reached the stomach, ticks later a placid heat would awaken inside that acted like a portable hearth. His only comment offered to the female was a small grunt.

This woman, whose name he had unfortunately forgotten, must be in the same situation thought Wikus as he glanced down at her. She was pretty attractive, mainly due to the hips he had spotted on her out in the snow, yet she too was on a chase. In a way, he doubted she’d keep her word, as she too seemed to be leaking rage from every pore of her skin. Even if women weren’t good warriors, he somewhat believed she could be a real annoyance to deal with in case things turned sour. Glancing back again, he followed her gaze to the window, something he immediately regretted as her own tone stated his mistake. That rejected and heartbroken girl could cause many problems, and could easily cause a scene that would break their cover. Wikus tried to watch her as discreetly as he could, mostly to prevent the creature of getting the wrong idea. The girl itself didn’t seem as sweet as before, her own presence filled with perhaps the same amount of hate the duo presented within the tavern. “No.” He said to his companion, immediately freeing himself from guilt.

He himself diverted his attention towards the bar and the couple that stood there. The two individuals that formed it didn’t seem to follow the trend of kissing and delighting themselves with the body of their fellow men, as both individuals were these colorful men. Sitting on their stools, they seemed to be having a pretty good time. Wikus nudged the female beside him and whispered in her direction. “What now?” He couldn’t quite get used to her current look, yet he had to admit it was original. No women usually wore that style, and the idea of covering a female’s hair and letting only her features state the beauty being very well accepted by him. Returning his attention to the Akalaks of the bar, he would focus on them rather than glancing towards his already unfaithful future wife. They seemed rather happy, talking discreetly yet performing a lot of gestures as they moved. ‘What a pair of goofs’ thought Wikus.

The more he watched them, the more he started to believe they were making fun of someone. One of them made a poor impersonation of a blind man, apparently, hovering in his seat as he faked hitting a wall. The other one laughed as discreetly as his hysteria allowed him, before making a strange kind of face that pretended to be as ugly as possible, which of course was well received by his friend. It was somewhat bizarre to see those two men having this much fun amidst the group of miserable patrons that rested both their heads and their tears on the counter, longing for the touch of somebody that wasn’t there. It wasn’t until both of those jolly men glanced towards the couple that had to be broken that Wikus realized what was going on.

They were making fun of his beast beloved, to whom they stared and giggled with their animalistic voices. The rage immediately filled Wikus up, something that wasn’t very strange but was rarely this intense. It was perhaps his only gift in this life, this rage that often made him perform miracles in both battle and life alike, but it was partially a curse as well. Not ticks later, he felt the tears already flowing down his cheeks, as that was the downside to the rage he usually held within. His opponents usually believed he was frightened just before they tasted a foot, and now that he was bound to remain unseen he could do nothing but let them escape. Raising his mug, he would finish it despite the burning left in his throat. Making sure to dispose of his tears periodically as to not smear the inked beard, it was a very challenging task. “I will irk them…” he whispered for himself, as he looked down towards the female in search of the bottle.

The abandoned child was easy enough for the Myrian to dismiss. It was not her problem and she had found a number of them in such a short period of the morn. Up close, Kiva saw the tears flow down the face of her teammate, but the thin set of his lips and furrowed brow, locked jaw... this was not sadness. Not wholly. A pent up aggression, one Kiva felt at the same scene, was lying in wait. The same emotions didn't leak from Kiva like they did the tall man. Her's simmered in her core like broth over a fire. Waiting to be made into something far more substantial. She gripped her mug tightly, almost savoring the bitter taste on her tongue, relishing the heat in her stomach. It warmed her, brought her to life when the betrayal of the man at the table wanted to destroy her.

"What now?"

Kiva meditated on Wikus' question. What did she plan to do? Every scenario included her yanking the woman out of her lover's lap, replacing the body with her own. Then she would make him forget all about the sack of potatoes that was previously in his arms. A smirk lightly tugged on the corners of her lips, but such an arrangement would break their alliance. But... did she really need him?

As the heretic of a thought whispered into her mind, she heard Wikus mutter something and quickly followed his eyes to a group of men having a jovial time. Fingers were pointed, laughter ensued. Juvenile insults were launched at the love of her life. Quickly and without thought, the Myrian woman sidestepped in front of her companion, opening her arms and enveloping Wikus in an intimate embrace. Pressing her body against him, her own height allowed for her face to dip into the crook of his neck as one hand gripped his shoulder, telling him to stop without the use of words. It was a dangerous game. A difficult act to hold, hoping her performance made it appear that they were just another couple and not two people staring intently at the groping of others, "I have a plan," she whispered quickly, trying to keep her face straight as she took in his pungent smell, "Strong warrior, strong mate."

As soon as the words left her lips, she pulled away, bringing a finger to her lips. To any onlooker, she aimed to look like a woman who had just exchanged a dirty secret with a man. Wasn't that the norm today? Kiva spun on her heels, walking with purpose to the group of men. A smile lit up her features and she swayed her hips when she walked. The action felt unnatural, but somehow powerful. As she walked closer, Kiva's dark eyes flashed to the fat bottle that rested on the the table before them. For her one true love, she would do anything, "Hello, there."

Kiva was not trained in the art of seduction, nor had she ever found much use for it before. But if there was one way to earn favor and attention in her home lands, it was to show that you could fight. And if that didn't get her manto stand to attention, what would?

When she approached she caught the end of one of their insults, comparing the two in the booth to pigs at a trough. Her smiled faltered only slightly before she used a thumb to point over her shoulder, "See my friend?" her accent lilted as she attempted to soften her voice, but there was a hard edge to her offer, "We want a third... He likes to watch." She winked at the last moment, and a stunned silence settled over the raucous group. The men looked at one another, partially disbelieving and when their eyes trailed past her to examine Wikus, she struck.

Kiva's hand blurred as she shot out, grabbing the bottle on the table by its neck firmly. Crossing the item over her chest, Myri's gnosis granted her the reaction time she needed, and glass shattered violently across the face of the one it had belonged to when she backhanded with the item full force. Dark speckles of wine and blood sprayed patrons nearby and Kiva could hear shouting.

One of the men's friend's jumped up and Kiva pulled back, fully ready to launch the broken end of the makeshift weapon into his neck, but a large hand caught her wrist and slammed it against the wood. Her fury was being unleashed in this moment, both as a way to cope with the building emotions, but also as a way to peacock her dedication and strength to her love. Pain shot through her arm and she abandoned the weapon, yanking free and instead grabbing the edge of the table and attempting to shove it into the stomachs, effectively disarming them of air.

Love is patient, love is kind, love is also a bit crazy and borderline bad ass.

The surprise overtook the male when the female wrapped around his body, something not only unexpected by someone so capable, but also unexpected from anyone at all. Wikus’ victim complex was immediately triggered, despite the faked warmth the embrace seeped. A hand tried to budge between their chests, trying to wedge them apart although not really trying, as even those old hands somewhat appreciated the bizarre action of the female. For a tick, he relaxed, almost truly falling for the illusion yet quickly reminded of its nature due to the female’s revelation – it was a ploy, just like everything else they had done until now. It seemed that there was no boundaries the two individuals wouldn’t cross just to get their way, and although somewhat bitter, it was something he agreed with. Her words, although perhaps meant to enlighten him as to the plan did nothing but confuse. Soon enough, he was stripped of her and was left alone to witness whatever her vague explanation meant.

Clenching his teeth, he remained on the spot. The female’s motion changed, something he noticed as he was once again bound to watch her rear. When they were outside, her hips were as stiff as his own, and only her female attributes would place her amongst other of her gender. Now, however, she was obviously trying to be… something else. Wikus’ mind, although still enraged, brought up the image of a duck as it believed it was something fitting. Any calm managed to accomplish in this short tick was quickly dismissed as that very same woman approached the two individuals responsible of his mood, feeling his body paralyzing in place as he tried to withhold any harsh facial expressions that were unfortunately blooming nonetheless. She exchanged some words with them, and when both her thumb and their ugly faces gazed towards him, they would only see a still man with a face proper of some obscure type of psychopath. Perhaps they imagined droll falling from his lips, or foam running down his chin, because they looked quite disgusted.

Wikus metaphorically began checking his back in search of trails of blood or any daggers still sticking, as the female could have easily went her separate way. This proved to be wrong, as soon she demonstrated what her words meant – fight for dominance. Much like any other animal Wikus could easily understand this, as the ones that raises at the top usually claims all the females for himself. As the broken shards of glass scattered on the wooden ground, finally he moved into action. Running towards the evolving scene, not two steps later he found himself halted again, a shard of glass having incrusted itself deeply within his sole. A grunt of pain and a quick yank was all he needed to remove it, having lost his surprise attack as one of the Akalaks directed his attention to him. Trying to reach the human’s shoulders, the Akalak quickly lost all hope as that shard of glass was repeatedly stabbing him in the belly. The depth wasn’t big, yet it was still considerable damage, augmented by Wikus’ fanaticism towards the action.

After more than a dozen of those stabs, Wikus let the glass stuck in the blue flesh, as the man arched forward and held his belly. Without doubt, Wikus slipped around him and, grabbing him by the waist, he’d press his groin against the man’s back as he arched backwards – the Akalak being loft from the ground and slammed harshly against the floor once the suplex was complete. His lack of defense had taken him out of the fight, hopefully not permanently. Pushing him off and standing back up, Wikus finally felt his relief coming in as he delivered a loud battle cry. Yelling his incoherent speech, which wasn’t neither Pavi nor Common nor nothing, the gibberish was merely there to provide some relief. An Akalak interrupted him with a harsh shove that sent him sideways, obviously worried about the fallen comrade. Once his balance was regained, however, Wikus didn’t show intention of backing down.

The Akalak knew this despite its young age, and greeted Wikus with a couple of well delivered jabs that hit the human plain in the face. They felt like two rocks that shook Wikus’ entire existence, sending his tears and snot flying all around, his knees quickly losing their strength. It was surprising how quickly a man’s strength fades away in combat, something Wikus clearly didn’t understood as he didn’t even bother trying to either block or dodge. In fact, he stood as firm as he could, letting the hits arrive again and again, as his frenzy wouldn’t bow down to damage. At last, after receiving the same jab again and again, finally he got the rhythm figured out. On the next jab, Wikus would step away from the punch and forth towards the Akalak, taking a hold of the arm and pushing his rear against the Akalak’s hip as he pulled the arm forward. The Arm throw was complete, and the Akalak landed right on the glass-decorated floor just next to Kiva’s position. “Finish him!”

The locale had become chaotic really quick – everyone was screaming, some were shouting gibberish, while others harshly mashed their fists into somebody else. Blood and liquor ran like rivers through the wood, and the love that once reigned inside was far gone. As Wikus cackled maniacally as he cried and the ink spurred out of his mouth, someone closed his celebration with a stool that was broken in pieces by the impact. It was no other than the nightmarish girl with the marked face, whom had finally revealed her monstrous nature as she too joined into the yelling. ‘I hate you’ she screamed, over and over again as she not headed towards Kiva with her bare hands, only the Gods aware of what she planned to do with the woman that had stolen her man.

Chaos.

Complete madness washed over the tavern in ticks. Men were jumping up to defend women who had their dainty sensibilities challenged or their dresses ruined by wine. Others were offended that their admiration to their date had been interrupted. The barkeep who had been perched in the lap of a patron was shrieking wild curses, getting in the face of someone who challenged her boyfriend. Kiva watched all of it with a wild grin on her face, relishing in the release of energy. The room was buzzing, and as she was joined by Wikus in the fight, she found herself being shoved, throwing a wild swing into the nearest victim's jaw. Her dark eyes scanned the crowd.

Was he watching?

Kiva looked for her love, finding his previous spot abandoned. The slag was no where to be found either. Distracted, the Myrian found herself an easy target. Blue arms the size of tree trunks reached out for her, yanking her upwards and throwing her balance into their favor. Lifting her high, as if she weighed no more than a child, the Akalak (at this point, Kiva wasn't even sure if it was one she had originally approached. They all looked the same), tossed her whole body in the air, leaving her with no other option than to brace for impact.

And down she fell, colliding with the hard wood floor with a solid thud and a grunt. Shards of glass tried to puncture the thick wool of her coat, but instead got lodged there, going no further and unable to reach her skin. A few pieces scratched up her hands, but the majority of the damage would be fat bruises that would no doubt hurt in the morning. She rolled over, the glass crunching under her weight, and she took deep breaths, working through the throbbing of her limbs.

Her hip ached and her right arm caught most of the impact. Somewhere nearby, Wikus shouted a war cry, and Kiva found the strength to rise to her feet. Her dark eyes darted for a weapon of some sort - something to swing when she jumped back in the fray, but the only thing she found were some chairs and dented mugs.

A crash sounded at her feet, and the Myrian looked up to see one of the giants tossed before her. Wikus commanded her to finish him, and before he could say no more, Kiva settled on the chair. She hoisted it up above her head and swung downward with a mighty force. The wood cracked and split open the victim's brow. His mouth was busted, and he looked like he had taken a very inopportune nap. Perfect. A knock out.

A few more swings on her part to those who dared challenge her, a number absorbed. One punch clipped her in the mouth, splitting her lip open and it didn't take long for the Myrian to tackle the perpetrator to the ground. The person in question was a human male, smaller than herself. He jerked underneath her, and Kiva struggled to hold him in place. She was about to attempt a new move when Kiva felt her scarf being yanked from her hair and around her neck. Who ever had done so pulled ferociously, tightening the fabric around Kiva's throat, and restricting her ability to breath. Unable to fend off both at the same time, the Myrian opted for stopping the strangulation and pushed off the man, trying to twist her body to get a good look at whoever tried to kill her.

A thin body with a girlish figure. The child from the window. Black smeared her face, and dirty tears rolled down her face in rivets. Anger fueled her eyes and she screamed at her for stealing the thing most important to her.

Wait...

Kiva gripped at her scarf, pulling with her own might against the teenager. She stumbled forward, not expecting the Myrian's strength and it was ripped from her fingers. "I do not have time for you," Kiva shouted, feeling another round of irritation. Where was this girl's parents?

The teenage girl cursed at her again, her eyes flickering briefly to Wikus. A look of disgust flashed on Kiva's face. Was her teammate baiting babies?

"I will not kill a child, I will not kill a child, I will not kill a child." Kiva repeated the mantra in Myrian, hoping for resolve, but when the young thing charged again, Kiva jumped back and grabbed a hold of her arm, holding it above the teenager's head and tight enough so that she wouldn't be able to escape. Then, pulling back a hand, Kiva, with a vengeance comparable to a god's, began beating the poor child's back side. Slap after slap, the girl screamed and squirmed, trying to break free, but the Myrian only gripped tighter. When she was done, she unceremoniously threw the girl on the ground, "Show respect."

Seriously, what kind of children were these savages raising? Was there no discipline? Kiva loosened her tightened scarf, ready to spin on the next person, when Wikus' young admirer bursted into embarrassed tears and ran out into the street.

Kiva could hear the shrill cry for guards and she cursed. Another look around the tavern and with her lover not in sight, Kiva whistled loudly, signalling to Wikus it was time to go. Snatching up an abandoned coat from the back of a chair and a half empty bottle of wine surprisingly unscathed by the window, the tan woman darted for the exit.

Time for plan B.
