28th of Spring, 516AV

The afternoon was digging heavily into her energy as she remained at the Hunter's Allegiance. With what little Pavi she had, she was discussing the pros and cons of setting traps. Since Ixzo knew very little of them, she didn't have much of an argument for herself.

"You should not leave them out long. Prey leaves." No purpose. She countered the idea that they can set traps for days and come back later.

"Well, yeah," True, agreement. "But if you set out a few bird traps before you go out and check them when you come back, it adds to your load." The woman added, and Ixzo's lower lip puckered in acknowledgement.

Agreement. She added, really coming to both the end of her energy for the day, even though it must only be a bell past noon, and coming to the extent of her knowledge on traps. "Hunt with partner, no traps." The idea popped into her head.

The Drykas before her grimaces, flipping a bundle of braids over her shoulder. "Yeah, but then if you both use different weapons it is impossible. Do you ever hunt in pairs?" Ixzo's mind flashed to how she spent most of her hunts: waking up at midnight to hunt as a lion, not as a human. Recently, with her new bow, she had taken to human form as well. But she had only hunted with another Drykas once, and that had been a disaster. He had been on horseback, she on foot. Her with her claws and he with a spear, they couldn't coordinate.

"No." She opted for the easy answer, grimacing at the memory.

"You should." Learn, new experience. The woman nodded, switching her spear between hands. "Yeah, well my strider wants me back now, I bet." Impatient fool. Loved, kind. The contradictory signs threw Ixzo off for a moment, before she realized the Drykas was joking about calling her own Strider a fool. "Nice talking to you, Ixzo." She waved, turning out of the tent.

Fingering the string of her own bow, which was slung across her shoulder, she turned back towards the payment counter of the Hunter's Allegiance. "You know one who wants to hunt?" She asked Zethar, who was teaching a young boy how to clean the skull of a coyote. He glanced up at her, an amused grin on his face.

"You mean… Everyone here?" He joked, dipping the skull into the boiling water, carefully letting it fall to the bottom of the pot.

"Yes, but..." She sighed, frustrated with her inability to speak Pavi properly. "Two hunters." Together, teach, learn, team up. She signed, which seemed to supplement her lack of vocabulary better.

"Oh yeah, actually. We've had a girl poking around her before, she's not a very good hunter." Beginner, learning, new. He explained. "But she works with the bow as well, although much smaller than yours." He grinned. Wait, patience. "She might show up in a bit, I'll send her in your direction." He grinned, standing and turning away. Ixzo yawned, but nodded.

Prepared to wait a long time. Ixzo floated over to the pelts that hung on one end of the tent, her favorite place to visit. She never produced pelts that could be sued, but she always admired the hunting ability it took, even with the knowledge that most of it was via traps.

Jasmine rubbed her back groaning gently as she still had bruises from the fight she had four days prior. Sighing gently Jasmine walked into the Hunters Allegiance rolling her neck as her kit Lara ran beside her leg. She sat at a table and yawned rubbing her eyes gently. Lara sat beside her owners leg watching the other two legged creatures. Jasmine reached down and petted the head of the small kit. Lara hisses painfully and starts batting at Jasmine's fingers falling over. Laughing gently Jasmine stood up after picking her up and walked over to Zethar.

"Hello Zethar," Jasmine spoke with a smile as the man turned to her.

"Hello to you as well young one," Zethar said with a smile.

"How are you this day?" Jasmine asked as he saw the bruises.

"Finally came to a head did it?" He asked and nodded towards a bruise on her arm.

"Yeah. It did, Im on my own now that's why I have been bothering you guys so much," Jasmine said looking at the man refusing to show weakness.

The woman could no longer show fear, sadness, shyness, or timidness around people without an Ankal behind her. Zethar watched the woman stand tall before him not backing down from the fight.

"Do you know anyone who is willing to train a newbie or needs an extra set of hands?" Jasmine asked looking at the man gently hoping there was someone this time.

"Yes, the young black kelvic over by the furs," Zethar said pointing her otu.

"Thank you, Zethar," Jasmine said with a smile and walked over to the woman and cleared her throat some, "hello?"

Ixzo had been examining the pelt of a hyena, obviously not the most preferable one. The creature's course fur and short hair was not chosen nearly as much as the soft pelt of a rabbit or the thick one of a coyote, even though they were smaller. This particular one interested her, because it seemed to be shot through the eye. It was not trapped like most of the other pelts on display, since obviously trapping would preserve them the best. Like all the others, which had their eyelids sewn shut, this one did to. The difference was the extra needlework along the edges of the eyelid, pulling together a wound. And the soft stains of blood, which had been clearly washed out.

Her contemplating had been interrupted by a soft, but gruff voice behind her. Spinning on her heels, with perhaps a little more force than was necessary, she turned to see her greeter. "Hello," The mirrored greeting came out before Ixzo really took in the woman before her. She didn't look terribly old, if Ixzo had been human she might've been older. Yet, of course, this woman could easily be four or five times her age. It took her a moment, warily taking in the fresh purple marks across her arms, before she understood why the woman had approached her.

"You hunt with bow?" She asked. Not being the best with Pavi, she opted to skip the small talk, she was sure she would get plenty of it when she was properly awake. Reaching to her hip, Ixzo rested her hand on her quiver, taking a more relaxed stance. She'd already decided there was no hunting this afternoon. The heat of midday was not good for anyone but the best hunters, and she wouldn't risk it. That and she was dead-beat from her morning's haul. Tiredness pulled the lines beneath her eyes, and just after the words were spoken, and the thought of her bed had returned, she felt a yawn nudge its way through her throat. Working to ignore it, Ixzo took a deep breath after getting the girls reply.

Not seeing a weapon on her, Ixzo pulled her own longbow from her back. The thing was her most prized possession. Made of the pink woods of the jungles, it was distinctively Myrian, she had worked it out of a trader who had snagged it from a foreigner. But to her, the bow was very familiar. It wasn't expensive, but she cared for it so because it was the one skill she could flaunt. And, boy, did Ixzo like to flaunt things. "Use small or big bow?" Hunting, learn, together.

"We we hunt--" The thick Myrian accent finally gave way to the yawn and Ixzo paused, setting one end of her bow gently on the ground. "Same weapon, it is good." Learn, new experience. She copied the signs of the woman who gave her the idea. "Yeah?"

Jasmine straightened up when the woman spun so quickly on her heels. She quieted the small kit in her arms looking up at the tattoos all over her. Amazement was all the drykas could think of when she saw the marks on the woman. She shook her head hearing the woman speak to her.

"Yes, I do. My bow is currently outside on the yvas, though my horse is not happy about it," Jasmine said with a smile.

She was not bothered by Chaser's attitude as it had become very normal around him as of late. Jasmine hoped that with the cooler weather for the next few days would keep the Strider calm. The woman turned back to the lady across from her.

"I would really appreciate it if you would teach me.... Wow.... What a beautiful bow," Jasmine said as the woman's bow caught her attention.

She looked at the beautifully carved wooden bow. It looked nothing like the bows here in Endrykas. Jasmine managed to tear her eyes away and look up at the woman's face once more.

"You got it from a trader? Or did you bring it with you?" Jasmine asked looking at the woman still.

Jasmine had noticed the woman while she went about her business around town. She had never really gotten a chance to talk to the lady across from her.

"You got it from a trader? Or did you bring it with you?"

"I… whaa…?" Ixzo re-mouthed the woman's words for a moment. She had been stuck on the pale blue eyes, and too tired to listen to the foreign tongue to properly understand it. Trader. She understood that word. "Trader!" Recognize. She answered, finally. "Yes, I buy this here."

She grinned at her proudest possession, a little happy the other woman was admiring it. She had too much pride to be the ghost she was becoming. Not part of this culture she lived in, but attached to it somehow. She was mostly ignored or disrespected and unable to speak back. She'd seen what happened to female outsiders, and while she didn't understand why this society had put men in charge, she knew she was not equal with them. Speaking out would only hurt, in the long run.

So the Kelvic basked in what little flattery she could juice from the woman before her. A small smile dancing on the edge of her lips. Teach, learn. "We hunt on the morning." She nodded, automatically glancing up for the sun to see the time. She was sure it was a little past noon, although she wasn't positive, since the canvas blocked her view of the sky. Looking back at the woman, a spark of recognition followed her earlier thoughts. Brooding on the male-dominant society had reminded her of the day in the beginning of spring when she had actually met this Drykas before.

"Jasmine." She grinned at the blue-eyed woman before her, placing a hand over the scars beneath her clavicle. "Ixzo, we have… meet. Baultimes' Brew." Remember, curious. She grinned. "Barrel." She corrected herself, waiting on recognition as well, abruptly a little more awake.

"I would be happy to start hunting with you. Name a day," Jasmine said with a smile.

Part of her memory was beginning to return of the woman she had met earlier in the season. At least before everything that had happened to pull her thoughts from all she had planned before hand. At least what was not accomplished already that is.

"That's right! We meet around the first of the season," Jasmine said with a bright smile to the woman across from her.

"I hope my pup and kit wont be too much of a hindrance. If you think they will be I will get them to stay at the tent no problem," Jasmine said knowing that what work she had done so far wouldn't prepare the two little animals for a real hunt.

She had a hard enough time getting them to listen on a solo hunt which has caused her to not bring in much. Jasmine was unsure of how excited the two would be on the hunt with another person.

"Yes, yes!" She grinned at Jasmine, then frowned. Did she say 'pup'? As in baby dog? The frown turned into a grimace and the Kelvic shook her head. "No dog." She had to fight back the snarl. The loyal creatures were fascinating too her, but they had the worst manners. Like the other animals, they caught the whiff of her lion scent as well as her human scent. For those she did not confuse, they got protective over their human companions, it rarely pleased the Kelvic to encounter one. On the other hand, most of the hunting cats she'd come across had ignored her. They were not so loyal to their humans as to react for protection, although being mostly cheetahs, they weren't particularly fond of her either. "No cats, as well." Bad, no learn. She signed.

Sorry. She added, hoping this did not kill her chance to finally hunt with a companion. It would be hard enough teaching one companion, when she's never taught anyone anything before, let alone watching her back against a dog and the intrusion of another cat that didn't want to cooperate.

"On the morning." First Bell. She signed. To her, the time did not seem so drastic, a little later than she would have started on her own, but she doubted this Drykas woke up at the time she did. "We meet…. At wind-gates."[/color] She added, picking a seemingly permanent spot in the forever-moving city.

"That good?" She asked, picking up her bow once more and sliding into it. It was large, but she had gotten used to the awkward addition, and felt a little easier having it on her back. Blinking a few times to keep her eyes from staying permanently closed, Ixzo began to inch towards the entrance, waiting for her reply. She was dead beat, it had been a long day.
