Now this shyke is just petched up, the savage thought with an incredulous shake of her head. They were everywhere. They leaped, they hopped, they croaked in a desynchronized song that made the Myrian's head spin. No matter which direction she looked, the ground was littered with amphibians of all shapes, colors, and sizes. She scratched her head where she lingered just behind the door to the open world. Someone shrieked nearby, drawing the snap of the warrior woman's head in its general direction. A young woman with long blonde hair recoiled in disgust from a window where she'd looked out at the bizarre situation unfolding outside. Her brow furrowed and her full lips twisted in horror. A small body with a head of blonde curls giggled and jumped up and down beside the bewildered shrieker. The child, a young girl, slapped her hands upon the glass in pure bliss. "Froggy, froggy!" she pointed excitedly to the hopping creatures just out of reach with a glance at her mother. Kaie's brow arched at the reaction of the child. Her lips twitched in mirth. Perhaps she too might've been just as awestruck at that age had Falyndar's variety not been known for its poison. It was a silly way to go, she'd always thought, dying at the webbed feet of a tiny golden thing she could crush beneath the end of her spear's shaft. Yet it had happened in the jungles all the same.
The jungle native lingered for some time in the doorway, more out of bewilderment than nerves. Her backpack was slung over a shoulder over her brown cloak, her gladius hung as it always had from the belt wrapped about her hips, and her spear was tightly in the grasp of her right hand. Something had awoken her so very early that morning and it wasn't the noisy new neighbors. It was something powerful that originated from within. It was as if she'd suddenly found herself ferociously in fear of letting her life slip by in her sleep. As if every moment she laid idle was literally sucking the life out of her, tick by tick. The anxiety had the Myrian snapping her eyes open and throwing the covers off her bare body before Syna even peeked over the horizon. For a bell she paced, back and forth across the room like a tiger in a cage. Back and forth, back and forth. Where had all the energy come from? Why? In that episode it hadn't mattered to the woman. All she knew was that it was very much present, and it needed to be expended immediately. Thus, she dressed and packed some things with the conclusion she needed to hunt. Surely some physical challenge would tire her out, she had convinced herself. The first and only thing to distract her from her lust was the damn frogs.
With a sigh, the Myrian threw up her hood and exited the apartment building with a shut of the door behind her. Amber eyes peered down at the amphibians in her path. Her lip curled and her boot parted a small space for her first step in the living sea. Navigating the absurd crowd was a more tedious task than she had anticipated, and after a short while, the savage merely conceded that stepping upon their fragile bodies was a necessary evil if she ever planned to reach the gates before night fall. As a warrior who had spilled more than her fair share of intestines from men's bodies, it surprised even Kaie when one sickening crunch beneath her heel sent her stomach lurching. She sucked her lips inward and looked up at the cloudy sky as if demanding an answer from the gods. Then she looked downward at her lifted heel. Sure enough it was coated in squashed frog guts from the crushed body below. A tick later she felt something on the top of her other boot. Unsurprisingly, it was yet another frog. The dull brown creature sat there on the leather, looking up at her with its dumb black eyes. A softer thought in her head hoped that it was indeed too stupid to find itself traumatized by the carnage she'd left in her wake. The Myrian shook her head and soldiered on into the city.
If this is some sort of gift from one of you gods or goddesses on my birthday...you really shouldn't have.
