His choice in words hadn't had the desired effect. His expression visibly dropped to that of annoyance when she denied her leadership. Great. Well one of them was going to have to take vague charge. His face softened when she admitted to only be following orders. Perhaps she didn't know how to lead? Well she was going to learn then! Opening his mouth to speak, a stuttered order stopped him. Oh? So she was going to give orders? How indecisive. Observing her confusion as she looked about, the zith turned to his ears. The camp site around them was loud as was the wind but he could vaguely hear a set of muffled cried from the direction of what had been the mini-colony.
About to take to the air to source out the noise, the tapping and jarring change in tone from the woman had him looking at her cautiously. She wielded a hammer like his patron and while he didn't respect her, he had been on the business end of his patron's weapon enough times to know to respect her hammer at least. Eyeing her for a few ticks, the zith deemed it safe enough to let out a chuckle at her threat. Calling out after her as she marched off, his voice ripe with mirth, he held out his arms in clearly faked surrender.
“I no tell what I no know. What you are, I can not figure out.”Stretching his wings slightly, Treachery ran forward after her before jumping and flapping hard down wards. Repeating the heavy wing beats as the wind played with his airborne form the squire soon over took his new partner as he zoned in on the noise from earlier. Dipping over the wreckage of what might have been a dwelling, the zith tilted his head back and forth to try and hear the noise better over the wind as his wings beat hard to keep him stable against the snowy air currents. Breathing picking up as he turned closer to the sound, the zith let a shiver crawl down his spine. The wind held the faint familiar scent of dead bodies, there would no doubt be corpse to collect once the snow thawed. Hopefully he wouldn't have to stick about for that. Eventually finding himself having flown around in circles and Treachery decided to land.
“Hello?”His voice was loud and soon the noises from before started up again only clearer and more panicked than before. Pin pointing their source from a more up right part of the rubble, the zith clambered over towards them. Calling out again got him a more clearer answer of
'Thank Sylir!'. Okay, those were definitely trapped people in there. Clawing away some of the snow revealed a series of large and heavy bits of roof along with a crack into a small cavity created between the fallen roof and the remaining standing wall. Sticking an eye up against the crack and waiting for it to adjust showed three, maybe four, shivering bodies curled up together in the small space. If it weren't for the fact he could smell blood, Treachery would have been relived that so many people were unharmed despite the destruction to the their home.
“Hello. I'm a squire. Smell blood. Anyone hurt?”
“My sister got her leg caught under the rubble when the roof caved in. We've freed her but she's bleeding badly. Can you get us out!?”
“I try!”Tugging at the fallen roof bore no results and he didn't want to dig too far least the rest of the roof cave in on the survivors. He needed strength and also another pair of hands. Sighing, he told the voice that he would be right back and took off again looking for the not-prey. Finding her wasn't hard, flight meant he could cover quite a bit of ground if he needed to. Landing roughly, nearby he called out to her.
“No-Deaf Lady, Hurry! Found people. Trapped. Can't move rubble. This way.” Turning and dashing off from the way he came, this time on foot so she could follow, the zith lead his partner towards where he had found the survivors. Hoping she would be able to aid him despite her timid personality.
OOCI sorta rushed ahead a bit and gave us some people to save. Do tell me if I went too far!
