Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Midday.

It had occurred to Pulren, on his first day as a Kuvan, to spend some mizas in the local economy. Contribute. Nah, that was horseshit. Winter was blowing across the sea and up under his black rabbit fur lined cape. He felt fortunate, at least, having survived Winter in Sunberth, Nyka, Sahova and Zeltiva, that while this one would suck too, he would survive it. However, there was no reason not to be comfortable and to attempt to blend in as much as he could to the Akalak. No, he wouldn't paint his skin blue, but they did seem to enjoy a level of luxury that Pulren wanted to participate in. Something about the city seemed very natural to him since he had stepped off of the boat.

His wardrobe up to this point had been very utilitarian. He had one outfit for just about anything, a habit that had followed his years of poverty in Zeltiva. He planned on rectifying this situation in the Zhongjie Warren, the colorful bazaar he had passed on his way to the Kendoka Sasaran. Feeling at home certainly extended to places of barter, as Pulren enjoyed spending his hard earned mizas whenever he could, most especially on his own comfort.

This day found him in the tent of a purveyor of leathers with fur lining. It was an especially busy stall, considering the weather and the winds. He had waited patiently for Akalak to shop, knowing full well that they had first pick. When reaching out to look at a vest, the human at the stall, an older gentleman than Pulren by at least ten to fifteen years, saw his fresh Kuvan tattoo. "Ah, welcome , Sir. You have just joined us here in the city, I see?" Pulren smiled and nodded. "Yes, I am Pulren Marsh, formerly of Zeltiva. Currently, of Riverfall. What does this vest fetch?"

He removed his cape with a flourish and handed it to the man so he could have a better look at it. Beneath, he wore his black linen shirt and his black dyed leather pants. The vest was well crafted, the fur rabbit, one that Pulren enjoyed already, though this fur was a kind of sooty gray. Without a break, the man offered "Six mizas." Pulren rose an eyebrow but knew that was probably pretty accurate, assuming his Kuvan status would give him an even keel. It was an assumption, though. He nodded and gave the man his mizas, slipping the vest on over his linen shirt and immediately noticing a difference in warmth. When he slid his cape over as well, he felt very comfortable and was proud of himself for making the purchase.

Furs and Fellowship (Karin Ironyach)

Karin had a spring in her step as she left her place of work to find something for her lunch. She had a good amount of time off, as Picalum wasn't so strict when there were many people in the shipyard. That wasn't the reason she was so happy though. That was because she'd shared a wonderful time with Jay just a few days ago. Now, she was smiling to herself thinking about the Kelvic, and wondering whether he was well. Her mood was helped by the encouragement she had received at work, as she had been doing better than before and had received some praise for it. Now she wandered towards the Warrens, her step brisk and light as she looked about her with interest.

She soon arrived at her destination, and slowed her step to make up for the increase of people all in one place. It was busy, but not ridiculously so. She browsed the stalls looking for those that sold food. However, it appeared there were none close by. This part of the market was dominated mostly with clothes shops and stalls, with cloaks, coats, scarves, leather tabards and silken dresses all laden together in a hotch-potch of colours and textures. Yet Karin wasn't interested in this, especially as her stomach began to rumble and her nose picked up the faintest scent of roasting mutton.

She began to follow her nose, lifting her head high to gain as much of the scent as she could. It wasn't too hard to cut across a group of haggard old women pushing a cart between them, but she stood significantly less chance of cutting through a collection of Akalak haggling over the price of some already cut-price leather. She hopped on one foot with frustration, wondering how to get past, as she was sure that the food she could smell was somewhere past them.

It was then however, that her attention was pulled by a certain, familiar-yet-still-odd feeling. The feeling was coming from a stall just next to the haggling Akalak, in the wrong direction to her food, but worthy of investigation nonetheless. Indecisicion played on her features for a touch of a tick, until she finally gave into her curiosity and approached the stall.

The structure was a tent, and she gently twitched the door aside to step inside. The interior of the stall was well-presented, but it wasn't the ware that she looked at. Instead, it was the man who was the source of the feeling. On her arm, her gnosis mark seemed to tingle slightly. An ever so gentle disturbance, but it shot a thought into her head. Was the feeling to do with Laviku's mark?

She glanced at the man again, noting his dark clothes and noticeably green eyes. Not a Svefra then. She pondered it thoughtfully, and stepped out the shop again. If the man were to step outside she would follow him, tailing him as closely as possible to see if she could find out whether he was marked or not. Food would have to wait, for the time being.

Basking in his new purchased warmth, Pulren shot a glance over to another stall. It seemed to have colorful clothing in it and Mister Black clothes of Blackness could probably use a sprucing up, although Winter probably made it okay to wear all black. Shaking off his silly attempts at fashion, he crossed over toward the other stall when the most peculiar thing had happened. For the second time.

It had happened on a resupply near Alvadas. The port looked normal enough but the crew had cautioned against visiting the city of Illusion. While it piqued Pulren's interests, he felt that he had enough adventures and wanted to be boring. It worked out nicely, in a way, as several Svefra were mingling about the dock and they all swarmed Pulren with little warning. The Zeltivan had felt a strong pull on his arm, as if the waves of his Oceanus were being pulled in a mighty riptide. They all bore their own marks and Pulren did as well. They discussed him in their own language, which Pulren had a smattering of himself. When he spoke back to them, they literally looked like they might all lose their marbles.

So, when he felt the same pull and turned to see a striking young woman looking at him, he thought it best just to be direct. She could be the ebb and he would be the flow. Turning on his heel, he walked straight toward her. He could tell as he approached her that she was not one for direct confrontation, so at the last moment he veered off to her left and picked up a group of wooden utensils that were on sale. Holding a shapely fork toward her, he smiled. "Do you like utensils?Much nicer than eating with your hands."

If she didn't run away immediately, Pulren would turn on his heel and undo his cape, slinging it over his opposite shoulder. In a single movement, he would grab his left sleeve and slide it up his forearm and bicep, revealing the moving waves of his Oceanus mark. "Is this what you were looking for, friend?"

It was to her significant surprise, and a little embarrassment, that the woman came face to face with the stranger almost as soon as she had entered the shop. He was tall-ish, with a rugged-looking face (although that was mostly to do with the beard). She smiled hesitantly as he offered the fork to her, and she took it carefully in her hand. Her thumb slowly strummed the fork tips, as she quietly said, "I eat with my eating knife, though utensils are useful for things like soup." She cringed internally, as she gazed down at the obvious fork in her hand. You can't eat soup with a fork, idiot.

However, she was soon relieved from her embarrassment as the man messed with his clothing to reveal his Oceanus mark. She stared, her eyes wide and a slow smile creeping across her lips. So, he was a Svefra after all. Perhaps? She didn't know if regular humans got marked by the Sea Father, but to her, this stranger had just got that much more interesting.

She gently placed the fork down on the counter, and nodded a thanks to the stall owner as she stepped out the tent. She hoped the stranger would follow, as she felt self-concious talking in such an enclosed space. Outside was better, where the air could carry away the closeness of the tent. She looked about for the stranger, and shyly shrugged back the brief flap of sleeve to show her own gnosis. It swirled on her left shoulder, blue waves today tinged with foamy brine, as if whipped by a high wind. She looked down at it, feeling a sort of peacefulness for a fragment of time.

Then she looked up at the man again. "Are you a Svefra? You don't seem to have the eyes, but, well." She inclined her head towards his gnosis. "You've got the mark." She frowned, and took the slightest step back. "If that's too personal, I apologise. I'm Karin, by the way." She pulled her plait back from her face and pushed it over her shoulder. She always found it odd when people wanted to talk to her. She was used to hiding in the background, simply observing, but it was growing clearer and clearer that people liked to talk to other people about things. All kind of things. She wasn't exempt from that.

OOCApologies for the delay!!!
