It was somewhere between the flash of light and the sudden inability to move that Viktor realized he had gotten her attention. "If I had a copper miza for every time you've pinned me I'd be a very rich bear. I see you still hate it when I sneak up on you just as much as you used to." He teased, a foolish grin lighting up his face. He toyed with the idea of transforming as well, although in this position he doubted he would have enough room. Besides, he really didn't want to rip his clothes. "Oh wait, this is the part where I should be freaking out right? Give me a second." He shook his head, his expression going blank while he got into character. Mock terror suddenly swept across his face. "Oh no! Morwen, save me please! Rescue me from this savage beast! Please kind sir, save me from this terrifying monster! Call the guards!" He cried, unable to stifle his laughter as he managed to squeeze an arm out and waved it at Coren in a mock plea for help. He turned back to the other kelvic. "Seriously though, I'd give you 10 points for effort, although maybe 5 for scariness. Then again, it sorta loses it's power after the millionth time." He joked, failing miserably at giving her a stern look. "If you don't mind though, could ya let me up? It is kinda awkward to hold a conversation at this angle."

The bear's eyes widened as she gazed upon the man who she had whipped into the water. Fianna was sure she knew who the guy was and even if his familiar scent was overpowered by the smell of fish. No wonder she had not smelled him coming! She had been eyeing her fishy lunch! Her tail wagged as she looked down at the sopping wet man. She clamped her large jaws onto the back of his coat and pulled him up out of the water. Once he was safe on the dock she sat down and nuzzled her nose into his chest. She would have changed forms but she had ripped apart her clothes in her scared transformation. Fianna rubbed her cheek against Viktor and nudged him with her nose. She wanted him to get onto her back. "I wish I had close out here. We will have to head to the barracks. Besides, Viktor needs clothing too." Fianna let out a small growl encouraging Viktor to get on her back. It would be odd having another man on her back other than Coren.

Viktor fought off his coat, shivering from the frigid water now cooling faster thanks to the chilly air. "I'm going to freeze before we get back if I stay in this form. Plus, I would offer you my coat to cover yourself but..." He finished the sentence by dropping the garment to the ground with a wet plop. "Now then, If you'll excuse me a moment." He disappeared behind another stack of boxes, pausing only to question the convenient locations of these stacks. Less than a chime of wet clothes hitting the docks and a bright flash of light later and a wet polar bear emerged from behind the pile, wet clothes hanging out of his jaws which he let fall onto the jacket. He moved a bit away before shaking himself dry, trying to avoid getting the other two wet as well. "Still, I'm flattered by the offer. It'll be wierd enough having someone else riding on me, let alone being the rider, no offense." He growled as he trudged back, nudging Fianna slightly. "There is something I was hoping to talk to you about. But let's get back to the Barracks first." Even with the encouraging words from one of the people closest to her he was still a little on edge. He grabbed the sopping mess of clothes in his mouth, using it as an excuse to delay the conversation. Not that he had any other way to carry them anyway. The one drawback... lack of thumbs...

There was great joy in Fianna's eyes as she saw Viktor emerge from the fish crates. He was much larger than he once was. It had been seasons since the two had seen each other and of course the two grew like kelvics did. She run up to his side and pressed her nose against his white fur. "It's good to see you Viktor. Why have you not visited me? The docks are always open you silly bear!" She playfully swiped at his shoulder and took on a playful stance. She missed their play fights and even though she knew that moment was not the proper time she wanted to mess with him. She was curious if she could still beat him.

As the two bears walked on Fianna looked over to Viktor. "Why did you hide behind the boxes when you changed. Has big Viktor turned bashful?" Fianna let out a bear-like laugh which in reality was just a growl. She held her head high and pointed her nose in the air. "I guess not everyone can be an exhibitionist like me." She carried an air of sarcasm which saved her from sounding like she was full of herself. She pushed her head against Viktor and trotted up ahead of him. "First one to the barracks buys the other elk meat for dinner!" Fianna had a head start but who knew if Viktor was faster?

Viktor simply rolled his eyes at the snappy remark about his dressing habits, allowing the clothes to fall back to the ground. "Bashful? No. Aware that nudity isn't really appropriate in public? Yes." He growled, half tempted to tackle her then and there in response to the swat. "And I would have come down here more often but I've been keeping pretty busy. Someone has to babysit the drunks." He sighed, unable to say that the real reason he hadn't been around was in fear of this very confrontaion, although with a much gloomier outlook.

A race sounded fun though, although speed was never one of his strong points. Most of his time spent working out involved sparring or weights so while he packed a mean punch, he was far from the fastest kelvic in the watch. Then again, the distance between the port and the barracks could work in my favor. She may be faster, but with my endurance, I might just be able to over take her just before we reach the gates. "Alright, you're on! On 'Go'." A new idea popped into his head and with it came a guarantee of success.

Viktor concentrated on controlling his breathing, the last thing he wanted was a cramp halfway through. "Three, two, one," He paused a moment for dramatic effect, "Go"! He started falling behind before they even left the docks, just as he had suspected he would, partially because he still had to pick up his clothing. He tried to push himself as close to sprinting as possible without burning up all his energy too quickly. He was able to keep the pair insight, weaving around various crates, people, and other obstacles. Things nearly ended by a cart which Viktor nearly slammed straight into as it was pulled through the market. He managed to slide on his stomach under it, leaving behind a bit of speed and a very shaken merchant. He was slowly gaining and as the barracks was in sight they were neck and neck. If not for the labored breathing he would have made of some witty comment about a story involving a rodent and a reptile. instead, as he slowly pulled ahead, dumping his reserves into reaching the gates first, he managed to shake his rear a little in a taunting gesture. This slight disturbance in his stride threw him off balance. His paws shot out from under him, sending him sliding face first towards what would have been the funniest victory ever, had he not come grinding to a halt mere inches before the finish line.

He could only watch as a split second later Fianna stole the win. Sure, he had technically let her win, but there was no way he would admit it. Besides, it set him up for what he was about to say, his clothes sliding back to the ground. "You're lucky I slipped! I was going easy on you!" He used the bravado to try and shred any thoughts of him losing on purpose. "Alright, you won. But I'll tell you what, instead of dinner, how about I escort you to the Departure festival?" He took a deep breath, before finally getting to the point. "Before you answer, just hear me out. You remember back to the day when you told me you had found Coren? I had said I wanted to say something as well, but then said it was nothing. I wouldn't be shocked if you didn't, it was a while ago and they were small details given the excitement but..." His growls grew hushed as he tried to figure out how to continue. "What I wanted to tell you back then, and even now. I've been in love with you since I as far back as I can remember. I chickened out that day, but I'm tired of keeping it a secret. Fianna, I love you." He managed an embarrassed smile. It was unnerving bringing his feelings up like that, even more so that now all he could do was wait and see how she would react. He sat back on his haunches, more from mental exhaustion than physical.

[Port of Avanthal] Testing the Coolwater (Cheshire)

It came as no surprise to Fianna that Viktor was lagging a bit behind. She recalled from their days in the barracks togather that Viktor although strong, was not the fastest bear. She pushed herself to run toward the gates of the barracks. She looked over her shoulder to see her companion very clearly lagging behind. She smiled to herself, or at least as much as a bear could. Viktor was as clumsy as ever.

The gates were in sight and Fianna pushed herself to run faster. She was not going to let Viktor beat her. It was not a matter a pride. It was a matter of wanting to show Viktor she had not lost her touch while she was spending her days at the port. Just when Fianna thought she was going to win a streak of white slid past her paws. It was Viktor! Her heart sank a bit as she saw the bear slide toward the gate. It always amused her how her friend tended to slide on him belly more than he actually walked. She ran faster but her pace slowed as she saw Viktor's sliding body come to a slow halt. She trotted past Viktor and plopped down inside the gates. "Sorry buddy, looks like luck is not on your side today."

Viktor tried to play the fact that he lost the race off as his was letting Fianna win but she refused to believe him. Before she had time to make a witty rebutal Viktor got serious. Fianna had barely ever seen him act serious. He admited his feelings for her and although he thought she would not remember the convorsation they had she did. She thought of it from time to time when the port was quiet and she was alone with Coren. "I remember perfectly. You should have told me back then. You never know how someone feels unless you ask." She walked over to his side and rubbed her nose into his neck. "Now how about you ask me like a gentleman to the festival."

Viktor nearly melted at the nuzzling before returning the gesture, relishing the moment. "No, I suppose not. I was just worried that you two would wind up like mom and dad." He admitted. "But I think that it was meant to be like this, waiting until now to tell you. Ever since then I swore that I wouldn't let self-consciousness get in the way. Heck, you wouldn't believe the people I've met in this season alone! You were pushing me to better myself without even knowing it." He pulled away reluctantly before sinking into the equivilent of a bow. "Now if I might ask for just one more favor? Would you grace me with your company at the Depature festival?" It felt a little unusual speaking in such a sophistacted manner, but if it made Finna happy... "How was that? If you want I could run a shift back to my other form and get dressed fancy, then try again. Maybe I should butter you up with a candle lit dinner for two first?" He offered in a only slightly teasing manner.

Never in a million years did Fianna think she would have such a huge impact on Viktor's life. She was happy for him but also in her own way, she was jealous. All of these new people got to meet and spent time with Viktor while she was stuck staring at a frozen sea. She loved her job but maybe deep down she loved something else more. "I'm glad you have met new people. It must have been exciting for you! I'm jealous of them for getting to see you." She knew she was being a little selfish in that reguard.

The pair would have looked out of place anywhere else but two large polar bears sitting and having a conversation were just natural for Avanthal. "I would love to go to the festival with you. There is no one else in Taldera I would rather go with." She smiled, or at least as much as a bear could, at the thought of Viktor getting all dressed up. "You don't need to get all dressy but lets go inside and get dressed. I'd like to be able to take you up on that dinner offer. I think it would be easier in our other forms though.

In the barracks a few kelvics wandered the halls. Some dressed, some not. The barracks were clothing optional due to the tenants all being kelvics with a few Vantha who chose to stay in the barracks. Fianna waved good bye to Viktor and walked off to her room. After a few chimes of indecision she returned in pants and a grey fur coat. She smiled a Viktor and planted a kiss on his cheek. "There, much easier to show affection right?" She wrapped her arm around his and looked up at him. "You have gotten so tall Viktor!" He has changed so much and yet, he was still the same cuddly and loveable Viktor. "Now how about that dinner?"

Viktor had always pictured port duty as being exciting, helping oversee the various imports and exports, although too much of the same thing would get tedious after a while. "New people are great and all, but from my experience it's the ones you have known for a while that are the best." He laughed, allowing himself to be led inside the barracks. They parted ways briefly to head to their respective rooms and a flash of light and a quick change later he was back in the common area in his usual midnight blue sweater and pants. He had a few chimes before Fi got back to try and work out some semblence of a plan. Really the only two places to get a decent meal in Avanthal were the Luminary Commons and the tavern and while he was always up for a hard drink, now probably wasn't the best time. Petch it, I'll let her decide

Viktor barely had time to return the smile before she kissed him on the cheek, his face growing warm with slight embarresment. After she had latched onto him however, he paused, looking down at himself as though he had grown in the few moments he had been standing there. "I only feel tall when I wind up slamming my head on the door to the Cavern." He admitted, pulling her a little closer, enjoying the simple contact. "As for the dinner, I figured I'd let you decide. You know me, I eat anything that isn't green or leafy." With that said he pulled her closer still for a brief moment to return the kiss from earlier. "I guess it is easier in this form." As they prepared to leave he threw a slight nod and a mouthed 'Thank you' back at Coren. "I would say I'll try to have her back by a certain time, but you know how she is." He teased, sticking his tongue out playfully.
