The chambers were built with a specific purpose and while Evarista may never know what that is, she quickly learned that there is no escaping such a place. Had she managed to create any kind of structural damage, the glyphs would have been triggered and she would have experienced something unpleasant. As it was, the guards would let her sleep and her ravenous state brought on by the vilemoss would wear off before she would wake up.
The soldiers would periodically check on her to maintain a regular status of reports to their lord. Time passed and when the girl (morphed or not) roused from her slumber, she would find Lazerin standing in her chamber by himself. The wine-colored robes swirled around his muscular legs as milky eyes stared intently at his subject. For several chimes, the handsome man neither spoke nor moved –he simply observed.
Finally, the Druvin broke the silence. “You’re an odd one. If you can manage a reason why I shouldn’t kill you, I’d certainly like to hear it.” Another thought ran through his mind but he was unsure of its implications at the present time. The seemingly ageless man narrowed his blank gaze at the prisoner and waited with idle hands for a response.
Xen’s weapon would be taken into custody and there was movement in the form of the soldiers combing over the dead bodies. The ranking officer thought carefully on the Dhani’s words. Perhaps this wasn’t a wasted trip afterall. Lazerin could appreciate one who shared a charismatic nature but he also knew a thing or two about deception and thus, trusted very little.
“It seems you’re a rather logical serpent, though…” The large man made a very subtle hand motion accompanied by certain look which sent two soldiers silently into the darkness. “I will need to verify what I can.” The handsome face smiled a grin that dripped with arrogance. “You understand, I’m sure.”
From out of the narrow hallway, a figure cloaked in black approached the mighty warrior and bowed its head in reverence then shared some information in a whisper. Whatever it was, Lazerin’s face held a single expression which gave nothing away to the stranger. When the exchange was done, the Druvin dismissed his lackey and returned his focus back to Xen.
“I would like for you to accompany two of my men, snake. There’s a task that you might be able to provide aid and it would benefit your progress towards citizenship to do so.” Having said his piece, the magnificence that was Lazarin was gone; swallowed into the shadows but not before a strange flash emitted from his eyes.
Two soldiers armed with various weapons and decent black armor came to stand on either side of Xen. One bore the Dhani’s katana and they began to march back towards the exit fully expecting Xen to move with them. No words were said and should he ask any questions, the replies would be gruff, short and unhelpful.
Once outside, the smoldering carcass of the giant bat was still present. Upon seeing it, one of the guards shoved Xen to the side into the other man. Suddenly both of the soldiers were drawing weapons and attacking one another. Oddly enough, there was no signs of a staged effort as both men had blood vessels flooding their normal eyes and the blows were not dampened or pulled in anyway. Sword clashes rang out and one of the men shoulder checked the other.
He buckled and tumbled back into Xen, the katana sailing free a few yards away. The fallen warrior rose and instantly began slashing at the Dhani while cursing him for being in the way. One might expect the opponent of this man to end him but the bloodshot gaze lifted from the Ebonstryfe soldier to Xen and he too came after the Dhani with a means to end his life.
