Time spent at Sunberth was either keeping to yourself or being able to do the unthinkable. However, one needed to be careful. Being careful was the key to survival when living in Sunberth. There were so many guilds and gangs here at Sunberth that it was quite easy to make one simple mistake and have a whole entire gang run you down.

Or perhaps use you as a slave; if you were useful to be a slave in the first place?

It didn't matter to Avinasai. She didn't need to worry about it. She just needed to stay out of everyone's way, and hoped for the best that she wouldn't run into any trouble. However, trouble seemed to sometimes find her. So no matter what she did there was trouble waiting for her, or bound to find her at some point.

Right now, she needed to focus on gathering her supplies to make her poisons. She was on her own quest to travel outside of Sunberth into unclaimed territory- should she say. Since it's wildlands who know what's living and stalking these woods.

However, there are some unique creatures who lived within these woods and some of which can help Avinasai and her poison crafting. There are some amphibious animals such as frogs, toads, and even salamanders can be poisonous. There mucus that coats their skin(s) give them a defensive trait and poisons anyone who might like them. Some rumors state that the toxin within the mucus is strong enough to make anyone hallucinate anything out of the ordinary. It wouldn't be strange to hallucinate a killer coming after you (however that might happen often in Sunberth), the point is to stay away from toxic frogs. There are ways that you can avoid them too if you don't want to collect their mucus.

To identify a poisonous frog, or amphibious creature- try to keep an eye out for bright and vibrant colored amphibians. They can be really small, and quite difficult to spot with just a naked eye.

However, with years of exploration and practice with poisonous amphibious animals, Avinasai can be able to at least identify them. However, she doesn't really know their names of these amphibious animals.

Boots traversed over dried grass and Syna's light cast a bright radiant glow across the Syliras wildlands. It contrasted well with the anarchy of Sunberth. It was like comparing the scenery to a rose.

Yes a rose. Beautiful pedals, but sharp and unaligned pointy thorns. A rose was always the perfect analogy of a lot of things in this world, and if anybody said otherwise- their fingers would get pricked.

Avinasai's black silky hair was tucked back into a tight ponytail, and hidden inside her forest green cloak. The perfect camouflage when out in the wild. She had her rapier, given to her by her best friend Janeth before he died. Janeth was a good friend, and Avinasai will always keep that in mind whenever she wields the sword.

It was still good protection, and it made Avinasai feel confident when she keeps it on her at all times.

Stepping into the entrance of the wooden territory. There was a strange sense of being as the poison Hunter stepped into the wooded area. She had her pack on her back, and her supplies inside. She took some jars with her from The Majestic, and hoped that a few would be enough. She only needed enough to make at least three jars, but one frog won't be enough, and there was still a lot that Avinasai had to do today.

This was just the first thing she had to do.

Day, Season, Year

don't steal my code!

Avinasai knew not to eat the saliva of a poisonous frog. It would be foolish to do so. Just a teaspoon of the frog's mucus could cause the most horrific hallucinations on Mizahar ever to be imagined. It would last for bells... possibly. They could mess up someone's mind quite badly if they weren't careful. Even a sliver full would be dangerous to digest at any given time. Avinasai pulled off a small stick from the tree branch as she crouched closer to the vibrant colored frog.

It didn't move- fortunately.

Avinasai had a jar in her other hand, unopened. She just realized and cursed under her breath. Avinasai was so close to the frog, that the frog was watching her movements, but it's throat continued to bulge out and in as it waited. Breathing patiently too. Her red eyes darted for possible escape routes, but Avinasai was sure that the frog had quick legs if she had ever needed to run away.

Avinasai lowered the stick to the ground, slowly and very cautiously. Unsure of how the frog was going to react. She was surprised that it hasn't run away yet, and Avinasai decided that trying to take the mucus with a stick was quite a dumb idea. Even for her. She left the stick and uncapped the jar. It made a 'pop' sound as she uncapped it.

Thorne licked her lips with anticipation, and slowly continued to reach towards the frog with the jar lowered and the cap raised. She was waiting to catch it.

With a quick gesture, Avinasai closed the jar as she just barely caught the frog. Fortunately, nothing on the frog was harmed, but there was a slight throbbing on Avinasai's hands. The poison crafter tightened the cap and placed the jar in her backpack.

She needed at least two more to make one jar of poison. A jar could equate to a lot of small vials, and with those small vials- Avinasai could make a lot of money. All it came down to was money to buy more things, Avinasai needed some better armor. She knew that having magical armor also costed a lot of money. Even in a city full of anarchy, money was the big deal. Avinasai had a few important clients that need poison every now and then. She normally lived off of them for sometime until the next clients comes around looking for vials of poison.

Avinasai continued to search through the woods, with a cautious hand resting against the hilt of her rapier.

~~~~~~
Within due time, Avinasai managed to avoid some disaster as Synas light continued to shine down with pride. There were Ray's of light large enough that illuminated enough of the canopy of the Syliras Wildlands, so that Avinasai could see through the terrain. Her boots continued to crunch the fallen leaves of trees that weren't large oakwood trees. Avinasai didn't know much about nature, but she knew that a lot of these tall trees in the forests don't let their leaves fall of them. Avinasai never really understood that, but as she looked closer at the bugger trees that stood nearly 40ft tall. It was understandable that some of these trees housed creatures if many kinds. It was interesting, and relaxing to get out in the fall/winter times of the year and just observe nature around you. Avinasai would have never really gotten the chance to appreciate nature if it weren't for her friend, Janeth (that Avinasai wishes was still alive).
Avinasai definitely caught sight of another bright vibrant amphibian. It was skipping across a drying out pond over the lilly pads. Toads were making their toad calls too. Talking to each other. However, none of the toads were vibrantly bright colored like the frog that scurried across the pond. Avinasai decided that she should follow that one.
She needed to be quick and dexterous so she pulled out a jar as she was hurrying. Although, as she got it out, she tripped. The jar fell out of her hands and rolled across the soft dirt, and Avinasai fell face first.
She must've tripped over some log or rock or something.
The adventurer stood up, and dusted herself off as she grunted at the ground. Cursing it for her fall, and blaming it. She was determined to find that frog, and now that it has a time advantage. It would take a little longer for Avinasai to find it. She was determined to find it.
Thorne picked up the jar, and dusted it off too. Fortunately, there were no cracks in the jar and it didn't shatter. Otherwise she would have to be careful as she investigates further into the forest.
If that jar broke. She would have to return. That was her only spare jar that she had as a spare from The Majestic. Since most of those jars there were quite empty, she was able to use them and craft poisons with them. She hoped though, that she'll be able to catch that second frog.
She followed the frog as best she could. Avinasai avoided the sticks pointing out of the ground, and the howls of the wolves (or coyotes). Hopefully they were miles away and not close enough to Avinasai. However, this part of the woods we're dangerously thick. A good portion of it was also run by bandits and thieves. So Avinasai needed to be careful and not stumble into any camps nearby. It would be good to stay away from them. Because lone bandits could be just as bad as a gang within Sunberth.
Sunberth was an erotic city. Filled with exotic adventures and thieves of all kinds. Everyone needed to be careful and not step on anyone's else's toes while staying within the city, because it could cause conflict with whoever. Plus, unnecessary attention that people don't really need.
However interesting Sunberth can be- the main idea is to be careful and skeptical. Unless you're truly chaotic and don't care about what others do to you. Then you can try to do whatever your mind was set to.
As Avinasai hurried after the amphibian, she thought about what kind of poison she could make with the frog's she could catch. Well, obviously something that was-
-all of a sudden, she realized that she had lost the frog. It's bright contrasting colored body had camouflaged with the rest of the domain that Avinasai's sharp observation had lost it. Turned out she wasn't very observant and had ended up getting ahead of herself. She frowned as she checked under the trees, and the bushes. She didn't know where frog's could hide, but she hoped that she would find it again. She kept looking and looking until she was about to give up.
She was determined to find that frog. She can't just give up. Avinasai needed to make that poison, because without it. She wouldn't have that extra security that she normally has when she has a vial of poison with her. It was truly something that she needed.
Then she barely spotted it. A bright colored frog moving upwards on a tree. Avinasai reached out for it, but the frog jumped over her hands and nearly touched her skin. You can touch the frog as long as you don't put it in your mouth or anything. Sometimes these frog's can give you hallucinations and they could last for bells maybe even days...
She jumped at the tree again, but fell as she didn't have the acrobatics to keep herself steady. The frog escaped her. It had other intentions for today, and it seemed that it didn't want to be Avinasai's poison making slave. How unfortunate.
Avinasai picked herself up and dusted herself off. She decided to head back to Sunberth, and she wanted to take a visit to the Tent City that was on the southeast side of Sunberth. There's always something happening there, and it seemed like a fun idea. Since Avinasai wanted to talk to someone. However, she rarely visits the Tent City, and she almost really never talks to anyone aside from Bashful. He never leaves his room though. Which was strange. Even for Avinasai, and Avinasai is quite strange herself.
With a cup of success half full. The poison crafter made her way towards the Tent City to see what kind of stories are in store for today. Maybe she'd meet someone new and become good acquaintances? Or... She could meet another skeptical person, and nearly get killed. Either or could happen, and she was praying not to die today. Her life has been relaxing presently, and she preferred it that way.
When In Doubt Help Them Out.
When the Tent City was located on the southeast side of Sunberth. Close enough to the Slums. The people of the Tent City came from.many different backgrounds. There could literally anybody there. Anyone from all over Mizahar. It was like Endrykas, but better. Avinasai heard stories that the horseclans move from different location over and over again each season. She wondered how hard living life like that would be. Just imagine, living life outside. On the dirty grass, with creatures of all sorts surroundings the community. Something was bound to happen. While at Sunberth, you have the comfort of a nice home, and if you're at The Majestic no one cares enter Stumble Alley. There was always peace and calamity when you're working at The Majestic. Always. Not even a dog or rats make noise when they're running through Stumble Alley.
The Tent City was mostly a mixing pot filled with all of these different backgrounds and traditions. It had always amazed Avinasai how so many people came to live in a city without any government. Also, to make it even more surprising was how long this city had lasted without government. Avinasai's chuckled. Syliras wasn't as fun as Sunberth was. It was a lot of hard work to get where you needed to be. Lhavit was also a different conflicting city. With people of all types of backgrounds coming there, but a lot of them want to be off on their own.
The mention of Lhavit reminded Avinasai today why she loved working with poison. When her parents were murdered. Avinasai wanted to find the killer, and bring him to justice. But, no one did. The murderer left no tracks or evidence of where he was, and where he had gone. Avinasai hoped that he got eaten by one of those giant birds and then spat back out to be eaten by one of those Yukmen creatures. That man needed to die. People like him shouldn't be around this world killing whoever they please for no reason. To kill, you should have a reason, and a good one too. Not because you feel like it. However, people of Mizahar can be of any alignment and do whatever they pleased. So long as they know the outcomes, and play the games safely.
**
"Watch it lady!" A man shrieked as Avinasai almost tripped over a large stone that was supposed to be a ruin of some sort. Avinasai apologized and continued to move through the Tent City as she looked for someone who looked like they needed something. It seemed that Avinasai has a soft spot for the poor. Living a life as poison crafter was hard as it was. However, living life as a nobody. That must've been harder.
There was another man. Who seemed quite new here at the Tent City. He had difficulty setting up his tent. He was about thirty yards or so away. Avinasai pulled down her hood and headed towards the man, with full intent to help him out. She got closer.
"Hey," she began. The man jumped and turned around. The tent collapsed and flattened itself on the ground.
"What the petch do you want?" The man asked. He had a slight tension in through his tone. Avinasai took a step back.
"Not here to steal. At least not today. You look like... You could use some help?"
"A stranger? Asking to help another stranger?!" The man chuckled. "In Sunberth?!" He added as he slapped his knees. "You must be joking me! Not even Syna would help a man like myself!" He said in between laughs. Avinasai looked around with a shrug.
"Good thing, I'm not Syna. Eh?" She said with a smirk. The man looked down at Avinasai and stopped laughing.
"Oh, you're petching serious aren't ya?" The man asked with a sly smile. He gestured for her to come over. "You can help, if ya still wanted to."
"Aye, I'll still help you out love." Avinasai said with a smile. "You can keep laughing. Your laugh makes me feel good." Said Avinasai. It was strange. Complimenting a stranger's laugh, and saying that it felt good. If Avinasai was alone by herself and laughing, it would be the most strangest thing that Avinasai would ever do. She doesn't normally chuckle or laugh a lot. However, something made her feel different today. Perhaps it was because she had finally gotten the will to venture outside the city again. It's been more than enough to leave the city. So that's what Avinasai thought at least.
"Sounds good. Hold that pole up would you?" The man said as he pointed to the one that seemed like it was support the tent. "Make sure to hold it so I can knock it into the ground so it stays there." The man told her. Avinasai did as she was asked and held the pole that righted half the tent up. The man grabbed his mallet and measured the peg that was supposed to be in the ground, but wasn't. He was making sure that he wouldn't hit Avinasai. "Now just don't flinch okay?" The man advised Avinasai. "On the count of three. One, two, three." The man slammed the mallet down, but Avinasai flinched when the man told her not to. "For petch sake woman!" The man with the dark hair and green eyes spat at Avinasai. For a guy who can't own a home, it seemed he wasn't thankful for the help that Avinasai was giving him. When if it didn't seem like any at this moment.
"Well. Petch you to. You son of a whore!" Avinasai snapped back! The man stepped up and raised his hand. Avinasai prepared for a slap, but it never came.
"You watch your tongue woman!" The man pointed a finger. "If you still want to help, you can. I don't think I need your help. For a woman who seems like she knows what she's doing. She doesn't. So she can just leave." The man growled and retrieved his peg and tried again. Avinasai stood up and held her hands by her waist.
"Fine, shyke on me for trying. You petching cock!" Avinasai snapped at the man. Thorne couldn't blame him, he's probably exhausted. Avinasai was somewhat tired as well, and it was true. She didn't know how to set up a tent, and it wasn't by flinching when setting the pegs. However, there was a family further down who was glaring at Avinasai. A child ran along the grass. Playing with a doll. The mother was watching her. Just watching the children here made Avinasai's heart sink. The mother of the child noticed Avinasai's staring. She went back to washing her clothes.
Avinasai pulled her hood back up and ambled towards them. She hoped that she could be of better service than to the man.
As Avinasai headed towards the man who was sitting down washing her clothes. The mom bent over quickly picking up a dagger that was behind the bucket. Avinasai held her palms up before confronting the woman.
"Stay back. Don't do anything rash, and leave my child alone." The woman said as her hand shook while she held the dagger in her hand.
"Not here to hurt anyone. I just want to talk." Avinasai said with a smile. It might've been hard for the woman to understand whether or not Avinasai meant to have a friendly talk or the other sorts of talking.
"Not interested. Please go away." The woman pleaded. Avinasai stepped back. With her head down, she shrugged.
"If you insist. I was thinking of offering my assistance, but... you seem like you're doing fine on your own, eh." Avinasai said and turned away. However, before she started walking off. The woman rocked her head in thought. "Awe fine. You can help me wash my clothes. After all, it doesn't hurt to get these chores done faster. Maybe you know something about the priest who just came into town?"
This sparked Avinasai's interest. A priest. That someone's been talking about, and Avinasai had missed everything?!
"Who's this priest, and why is he so important?" Avinasai said as she sat on the ground beside the older woman, and started to help with the clothes.
"The priest of Dira. The Goddess of Death? Tell me sweets, you've never heard of her?" Avinasai blinked, obviously she had heard of her. However, not much of her. She helped clean some more of the woman's clothes before she had lost her train of thought. "Oh! Yes, I've heard of her!" The dark haired poison crafter exclaimed. The older woman just shook her head, her shawl was bouncing as she did so and her hair was tucked neatly behind her neck, underneath the shawl. She looked like she came from somewhere important before coming to this city, but Avinasai didn't really pay it too much attention, or she just didn't really care. She just felt like helping someone out.
"I do not know of this Priest and who he is, but perhaps he might be sending a bad message. Something is bound to happen. You should go help those men with the shanty shacks over there." The woman pointed, and perhaps she was just merely trying to get Avinasai to go away so that she would stop bothering her and ruining her clothes. Avinasai laid the shirt that she was holding on the washing bin, and shrugged before heading over to the men who seemed to be struggling with the shanty shacks. They looked like they were preparing for winter.
"Hey, you boys need help?" Avinasai said with a slight smile. Hoping to get a chance at helping someone out.
"Erm sure." One of three said. Each one of them were pretty muscular, and looked a little raggedy. It didn't bother Avinasai much, but these men looked like they knew what they were doing.
"Have you heard of the priest of Dira who had just arrived?" The second man asked.
"Yes." Avinasai said. "People are talking about him. Does he have a message from Dira to give out? Is it bad?" Avinasai wondered aloud. She shrugged and looked at the man. She was doing a lot of shrugging.
"I think so." The third man said. "Visited by the priest of death, doesn't sound very pleasing to me." The man continued. "Pick up that board would you?" Avinasai picked up the board and continued to help out the men handing the men what they needed.
20th of Winter 517av. Skipped ten days.
Calidus has been seen looking out the Lodestar Isle. Avinasai continued to hear the rumors for the past ten days knowing what bad omens the man had brought with him. Death was expected here and there. Death was expected everywhere. Avinasai wanted to laugh, but this seemed really odd, really odd indeed, and she wanted to make sure that nothing bad was going to happen to her city. Avinasai loved Sunberth, and she be damned if something happened to it. She would do anything to avoid going back to Syliras.
After awhile of walking in the night, Avinasai found the Lodestar Isle. There was in fact a man looking outwards to the sea.
"What are your intentions with visiting Sunberth?" Avinasai asked the robed man.
"Meet me here in ten days, and at the 1st bell. You will see." Calidus replied, and Avinasai couldn't get any other information out of the man. After a bell of trying to get the man to try and talk, she returned back to her home.
Notes
Hi Avinasai, it would be great if you could keep your thread list up to date! It’s not a necessity I think, but I’m sure folks browsing your CS would appreciate being able to see what you’ve been writing. :)
Be careful when coming to explain knowledge and more specifically, how Avinasai came across this knowledge. “To identify a poisonous frog, or amphibious creature- try to keep an eye out for bright and vibrant colored amphibians. They can be really small, and quite difficult to spot with just a naked eye. “ This comes across is if you’re reading straight from a textbook. In future, make a note of where Avinasai got this knowledge, even if it was something in the past. E.g., “Avinasai remembered reading a book many years ago. The warning and advice was clear: ‘To identify a poisonous frog, or amphibious creature- try to keep an eye out for bright and vibrant colored amphibians. They can be really small, and quite difficult to spot with just a naked eye.’ She had spent many years working with poison and the creatures that possessed it, and that piece of advice always came in handy when searching for such creatures.”
Overall, I enjoyed this thread and most especially the way it progressed at the end with Avinasai helping out the people of the Tent City. As long as you keep in mind that knowledge has to come from somewhere in Mizahar, then I think it's all good.
If you have any questions or issues, please send me a PM and I'll have a look. Otherwise, please mark your grade request in the queue as 'graded'. :)
