The vast mountain range of Kalea is home of secret valleys, dead-end canyons, and passes that lead to places long forgotten or yet to be discovered.

"It is the second day of Summer now" Damal made the mental note. He stretched his arms then slipped his coat back on. He headed outside he saw the sun was up which he disliked. He turned to see Nastya sleeping so he left her alone.

He leaned up against the rock and opened up his backpack and got out a day's worth of food. Then he started eating away at the food saving a little for Nastya.

As soon as the cool mountain air hit Nastya's face she was awake. The air mimiced the soft air of Kalinor and for a moment Nastya felt like she had actually been somhow transported to her home again. Alas, that was not the case. Nastya's golden eyes scanned the tent, Damal was gone.
For split second she thought that she was alone on the mountain. That thieves would come out of every shadow to confiscate her things, to kill her, then throw her off the mountainside. She reeled these thoughts through her head. One right after another. Then she heard a slight russle just outside her tent. A huge weight lifted off of her mind. She wasnt alone.

The binds on her chest were quite uncomfortable and confined her movements, but she wouldnt dare take them off with a male just outside her tent. As the sun rose higher in the sky she could clearly see his shilouette through the tent. She rung a hand through her hair, straightened it as best she could, and walked outside the tent.

Damal was working on some sort of food he had in his hand and it seemed he had set a portion of his food to the side. Nastya could only think that he was rationing it out, to make it last as long as possible through the long journey of The Unforgiving. In her backpack she had only touched her rations yesterday, and only ate half of a days worth.

Nastya had calculated that if she ate half a days worth, she could stretch it out to about two weeks. The only problem she had ran into was the depleated strength, making it harder to climb the sharply declining cliffs. It was one of the reasons she had nearly fallen the previous day. Another problem that she knew she would have to face was the inevidability that her food would run out.

The major problem with that was that she had forgotten to purchase a weapon for hunting. She had brought her fishing gear but they are obviously no use to her now. Maybe she would get lucky and some small cridder would attempt to run across her and she could snatch it up or something. The chances of that happening were relatively small... but she would cross that bridge when she came to it.

Nastya blinked and sat beside Damal. "Hello," she said in Symenos, "How are you this morning?"

"I'm doing fine you?" He asked trying to act normal even though he'd never talked to any females before. "Anyways" He took his coat off and set half a day's worth of food on it. "Go ahead have a bite to eat." He pushed the coat towards Nastya.

Nastya attempted a small smile to help ease the atmosphere between them. She was personally terrified of him. If he were to make one wrong move, she would probably scream and run head-long off a cliff or something. Damal would sure get his miza's then, thats for sure. But he seemed sweet enough.

"I'm perfectly fine and happy," She lied, reaching up to pull on her left earlobe. It was something she did when she got really nervous, which was a constant in Nastya's little world.

As Damal pushed half of his rations towards her Nastya couldnt help but gasp. Why would he just ration out his own food like that? Just give it to a random person whom he had met only a couple days before. It was a sweet and awfully kind gesture, but stupid none-the-less. Didn't he know that she couldnt pay him if he was dead?

Then again, maybe that was a good thing...

Nastya shook the thought away, knowing that she could never do such a thing. That would blow all of her good intentions off the mountain and she most certainly didn't want that. What logical God or Goddess would ever want to help her if she started thinking about letting a fellow Symenestra starve.

"Are you sure?" She said softly, sitting down beside him. "I fear we may run out of food if we..." Hopefully he got the point. Nastya wasn't that big on telling anyone her life's story or about her feelings or anything like that. The basic idea was good enough for her.

"Go ahead and eat some it is fine if I didn't think it was I wouldn't have offered." He said trying to not sound mean. He got a bit comfy and then he pulled his bladed boots back on. "Anyways when your done eating we should go back to climbing." He had finished eating his food so he stood up and started folding up Nastya's tent.

Nastya took some of Damal's food, eating it as quickly as she could so that she wouldn't be left behind. Since the eating process was rather slow, even for a Symenestra, it took her nearly an hour to finish. Hopefully it wasn't too terribly annoying for him to wait that long. Even if it was, Nastya didn't really care. If it took them three months, or just thirty days, she was still the person who was paying the miza's.

When she had finished, she reached into her backpack and put on the bladed boots Damal had given her yesterday. She didn't feel like she needed them, but she would wear them to make sure the ongoing quiet of The Unforgiven last for as long as possible.

He loaded up Nastya's tent and put it in his backpack he'd give it back to her when they set up camp again. He climbed up the next part of the cliff and looked down and just kept a eye on Nastya while she ate. Meanwhile Damal tried to think of what he'd do with the Mizas once they reached Wind Reach.

Additional Note: Nice thread but I wish the posts had been longer or more detailed. I would have awarded more XP for climbing but there was no technique at all described other than Nastya talking about her modified hands. Nastya’s posts really improved towards the end and I started to really enjoy the thread. Too bad you guys abruptly ended it. Please don’t invent items to share with thread buddies like a second pair of bladed boots. I checked your CS and you only had one. Also, bladed boots would not help one climb. As always, let me know if you have issues with the award.
