Vell's Metal Supplies

At the very edge of West Street there is a rather medium sized brick shop with an almost nondescript wooden sign dangling outside announcing it as being Vell’s Metal Supplies, although the blacksmith’s shop is more commonly known as Vell’s. It is one of the most reliable places to acquire blacksmithing and metalsmithing items in Zeltiva. Anyone seeking metalwork will immediately be pointed in this direction with the expectation that their needs will be met. The storefront itself looks no different than the other storefronts on the crowded West Street. However, the sound of metal upon metal a constant ring during the day here, confirming any newcomers what kind of shop this is.

Upon entering the shop one would find themselves walking into what looks like a forge. It is clear that not all of the large room is actually the forge, but the front half is actually a shop whose walls had been removed to give sight to the forge. The shop is much hotter because of this proximity, and with the exception of winter time, the front and back doors are always propped open because of this. Inside one will find Vell, the shop owner and head blacksmith, working away or lounging if he has no current jobs to work on. He hires one to two apprentices at a time, and teaches them as he can, under the pretense of one day retiring. Although Vell is getting on in age, and speaks of a time when he will no longer work the long and tedious hours he does, Vell loves his shop too much to let it go. His sincere dedication to his work has been what has gotten the man this far, and he fears handing it off, or even lessening the amount of time he puts in, will sacrifice the quality and reputation of the shop.

Inside the shopping section of the large room, one will find row after row of metal worked items of pretty good quality. Swords, hinges, buckets… almost any kind of metal crafted product can be found here. These show pieces are fairly functional and will fit the needs of most customers who enter, making their interactions brief and polite. Vell’s also offers personal commissions. Prices for pre-made items are negotiable to some degree or another, but when Vell states a price for a personal commission, people rarely argue him.

Employment

Blacksmith: With the hope of one day retiring, Vell is known to take on blacksmithing apprentices on occasion. Responsible for the construction of tools and implements needed in every aspect of society, Vell’s apprentices are held to a high standard nonetheless. Base pay is 6 gm/day, must possess the Blacksmithing skill.
