20th Night of Summer 519 A.V

One of the many aspects that was hard to argue about Ravok, its weather. It was hot today, the sun bearing down with its intense heat was slowly starting to dissipate as the sun was to set soon. There was no where to hide from it, but it was an enjoyable heat. Sevris was one to ignore such things.

Being a native to the city, he was used to the popular weather attraction. He was more concerned with the the new problem that was surfacing the city and the mainland.

The Lazarin had made his way to the streets of Ravok prepared to meet with another Solider. They were to patrol the Noble District before making their rounds to the Docks. He was dressed in black and gold Brigandine armor, he was clad from head to toe in protection. Covering his nose down, was a gold plated mouth mask. Even opting to have his longsword and double-bladed sword on his person.

Also his helmet was there to cover his face, very special items that would come in handy in his future fights. But was also why he was so hot. It wasn't long before he was able to notice a figure coming around a bend in the streets The other Soldier sent to do their patrol. "Finally, time to start patrols." He said as the other got near.

The Solider who was to meet him was also clad in the same type of armor. As was customary for a Soldier in the army. Underneath the armor was a face he had not seen for quite sometime. It was Miriam. Miriam was one of his accomplices when he and another were chosen to assassinate the Paladin Ansel Lazarin. One of Sevris's own older cousins.

They meant nothing to each other so dispatching him was of no consequence. However he had his own mental breakdowns after the fact, and lost contact with them. "Miriam...I did not know you would be showing up."

She was as beautiful as ever. Slightly darker skin than most Ravokians, a brown tan with short curly brown hair. Sevris fondly remembered her bright hazel eyes as her most striking feature. Her face was scrunched up with disappointment. But she seemed pleased at the same time. "Neither was I. But it is good see you are on patrol again. It has been many moons since you've made a run."

"Aye. That will not be a problem anymore." His Chaon glowed as the marks noticed when another was near.

"Lets start heading down to the Nitrozian Plaza. We can catch up." Sevris said gesturing forward.

Dead at Night

The two Soldiers walked along the streets till they were able to pass over a few bridges. They were mostly quiet, making their way to their first destination. Night was fast approaching, which meant that curfew was soon to be in effect. There were a few citizens bustling past, to make it to their home in time. They passed by the patrolling Soldiers. Sevris noticed the wealthy ones took their time, they would not be held to be rushed like some of others would.

They were sent to patrol the streets of the Nitrozian plaza with the recent attack. The security was also beefed up as well, adding additional Ebonstryfe Soldiers to monitor the famous families area. Miriam and Sevris passed by Thorin's Forge, it was in the process of closing up.

"Isn't your family on good terms with the Nitrozians?" Miriam said, finally breaking the uncomfortable silence between them.

Hiro looked towards the sky as thought about it for a few seconds. "Yes you can say that. I've guarded them in the past. Helped them stop an attacker at one of their estates. We've seemed to become allies after the event."

"Doesn't hurt that they are some of the richest to grace Ravok." Miriam muttered.

"The Lazarin's have made their own fortune, we aren't in need of money. It helps if all the families are on the same page. With the Voice back and Lord Gru'Tral returning as well. I foresee great things for all of Ravok."

"As optimistic as ever."

"I have learned from my mistakes." There was a slight flashback as remembered the thud of his sword entering Ansel's abdomen. "My duty to Rhysol will fix those mistakes."

A small grin stretched across her face and she shook her head. "If you say so..."

The two continued there conversation as they patrolled throughout the area. Keeping pace with one another, and also looking around for anything suspicious. They had already been walking around for a few hours before their conversations became fleeting to a word or two. It was until they reached in front of the Sliver Silver Tavern. There was a figure there wandering the streets near the entrance of the tavern.

Sevris's eyes narrowed as it was trying to make out the figure in the darkness of night. Syna had set and it was time for everyone to be turning in. This man seemed to be very wealthy from the looks of his outfit. He had a silk outfit that looked handmade, which meant it was expensive.

He spared a look of annoyance to Miriam who reciprocated the look as well. The curfew was light but they still had to enforce it. Even if rich bureaucrats were oblivious to the dangerous the city was now facing. Sevris took lead and walked a few feet up the man so that he wouldn't have to yell. "Curfew is in place. Time to start making your way home," the Lazarin pointed out to the man.

The man turned around clumsily, stumbling to do even the simplest of movements. He was drunk. "You can find your way home fine enough right?" Sevris asked, doubting the man would be able too in his current state.

"I'm -hiccup- fine. I don't NEED your help. Move outta my way." Then he stumbled down the path they just came from, brushing past them both. Sevris shrugged. Drunk people were hard to deal with already.

As he stumbled away from them, he could hear Miriam say, "The rich never have an inkling to what danger is."

"I guess it is our protection that has them feeling so safe. If something were to happen to him. Then he'd carry himself a bit differently."

"Ha! Maybe with a touch of Chaos will have him treating us better."

"I wouldn't disagree." A savage grin playing on Sevris's face at the thought of it. That was when they heard a bone-chilling cry.

Sevris was the first to react to the cry. It had came down the pathway they had seen the drunken man wander off towards. Assuming he had made his way out of the Plaza already and possibly heading towards the Noble District. "That didn't sound good." Miriam said, instantly on guard after also hearing the cry. It hadn't been that long since they had ran into the man in front of the Malt House. And was still within yelling distance.

Without another word, Sevris took off running down the winding path. Miriam closely behind him audibly with her armor jangling. They winded around a corner where there was large area open for a number of small but expensive looking stores. A small market area which was softly illuminated by torches hooked on to nearby walls.

As they spilled into the area, Sevris was able to notice immediately a downed figure on the floor. The man they had seen earlier, he was laid out on the ground seemingly unconscious. Over him, were two other figures.

Obvious to the both of them, they were able to notice even in the dark that they seemed to have...wings.

Sevris removed his Double-bladed sword from its holster on his back and Miriam also unsheathed her longsword. "Unhand him!" The Lazarin ordered.

The drunken nobleman was dropped to the ground with no care. The two figures immediately straightened up, their silhouettes becoming more defined. They definitely had wings, and judging from other reports from a few days ago. The town had been stricken with an infestation. The Zith.

Both of them began to walk towards them, giving off some intense intimidation. The Soldier had tried to intimidate them with his poise and yell, it was unsuccessful. The light gave them more sight as Sevris was able to tell that they were both male, but they seemed extremely exotic to him. Pale skin and large leathery wings, they were certainly noticeable. They reminded him of a Symnestra in a way, with his few encounters with them.

Sevris looked more closely, they seemed to be twins as they looked exactly alike. Except one was obviously female and the other was male. The male was filled with fur, wearing basically nothing save for a harness around his chest. The woman was naked save for a cloth around her waist. Meaning that they weren't as barbaric as Sevris was lead to believe. Either way, they would need to be stopped.

They stopped around five meters to the two Soldiers. The nobleman was quiet and laying on the ground. The Lazarin peaked around the Zith and guessed he was probably unconscious. Sevris twirled his large bladed weapon, and began to trot forward.

Miriam following close behind the two began their attack in synchronized fashion. The two Zith let out a loud piercing sound that gave Sevris and Miriam pause for a moment. But that was all the two needed to catch them off guard. One of the Zith found itself upon Sevris as he quickly recovered himself from the shriek. It used its large clawed hand and swung wildly at the Soldiers midsection.

He tried to jump backwards but they initial shriek had clouded his senses and he misjudged to the swipe. The Zith was very strong as it picked Sevris off of his feet as he went crashing sideways rolling to into a wall.

It was more of the same for Miriam who had not recovered fast enough and was greeted by a large clawed foot in her chest that sent her flying backwards. She skidded to a stop on her back. Sevris rolled back to his feet instantly on guard. They were fast and very strong. The wind had been knocked from him, he was using his time wisely to recover his breath.

Miriam stirred but had no time to recover as the Zith bent down, and lauchned himself into the air. Diving straight at her. Using its weight it bared down and began wrestling with her, trying to bite her exposed neck. Sevris had his own battle, she was a Soldier and would have to fend for herself for the moment.

The Lazarin was not deterred, there was large claw scraped against his armor. But it had not penetrated. Though it gave him a nasty bruise, he certainly felt the impact. Now it was his turn. Sevris was also very skilled in combat himself.

He held his sword at his side and ran forward, he was still close to the Zith when he swung his blade towards the chest of the Zith. The Zith moved quickly and used its claws to smack the blade away. It used its other free hand to attack Sevris, this time aiming for his neck.

He ducked and used lifted his shoulder into the Zith with a running charge. The Zith had not expected that and was pushed backwards but not off of his feet. But he was stunned, which gave Sevris the time to let loose a barrage of attacks. He twirled his blade twice times, the first twirl was to throw off his intended target. The second twirl went low and was aimed at the calf of the Zith. It didn't see it coming and the serrated blade pulled sliced through the calf. Blood began to gush from the wound and the Zith cried out.

He drew blood.

The Zith fell backwards clutching its wound, falling to the ground its attack was stopped momentarily. Sevris turned his attention to the female Zith. She was throwing furious blows towards Miriam in an attempt to maul her to death. Sevris panicked for a moment before he ran forward and charged towards them.

It was time to put in his new transformations work. After a failed attempt at recapturing a Drav'lak, Sevris had undergone a strange transformation. His right hand had become completely stone, but it was a flexible stone. Able to do everything his arm could, but stronger. Getting a running start, he balled his right hand into a fist.

The female Zith had knocked off Miriams helmet and was raising a clawed hand to strike her again. Sevris came at the last second, smashing the Zith in the face with his stone fist. The strike was hard and he heard a satisfying crunch as the female was lifted off of Miriam.

She rolled over and stopped before being rammed into nearby building. There was no screeching or screaming coming from her. Knocked out or dead. Sevris gave her one glance before returning his attention to Miriam again. He was about to extend a hand to help her back on her feet when someone grabbed him from the waist.

A strong grip almost crushed him through his armor, he was about to attack immediately. But he was lifted off the ground as he heard powerful wings flapping. Before he knew it, he was already in the air.

The male Zith was angry obviously that his partner was knocked senseless. Sevris could feel the tightening of the Zith's arms around him. He was able to pin his left arm to his side. Allowing only free movement with his right. He was startled to be lifted into the air in such a manner. He could hear Miriam cry out to Sevris as he was lifted higher and higher.

The Zith then angled himself to somewhere and began to fly. He's kidnapping me! Over his dead body. Almost ten meters in the sky, the Zith was trying to at least capture some prey after a failed attempt. But Sevris had other plans than being eaten alive.

Sevris looked down as they were hovering over a small house. A flat house, but it was a two story building. Which was almost right below them. He had no other choice but to try. With his right hand he clutched it into a fist and swung backwards. The hard stone fist connected with face of the male Zith. It was a strong enough impact because he cried out immediately.

He let got of Sevris unexpectedly, and he went plummeting into the roof. Almost ten meter fall, the Lazarin came crashing down. The wind was knocked out of him, he dropped his double-bladed sword as he curled up in pain. Even through the armor his chest felt immense pain, though he fell first on his shoulder.

The Zith fell as well, unable to keep himself in flight and he fell to the ground below. Its large wings became damaged as they got tangled with him, and flew into the wall of a neighboring building. They were both battered from the falls, but the battle loomed ahead of them.

Dead at Night

His breathing was labored as the impact from the crash landing began to subside. He rolled on to his back, clutching his chest and shoulder. Though the fall wasn't fatal, he definitely felt that his shoulder took a lot of damage. Sevris could feel that it was probably dislocated. He needed full range of motion to use his double-bladed sword. He cursed under his breath as pushed himself from roof and back on to his feet.

He tried to take me. They weren't going without catching something. Sevris was able to get his bearings, just in time as well. As he wasn't able to catch the subtle flaps above him at first. Then he was able to hear it, he instinctively rolled to his side. The Zith pounced at that second, narrowly missing the Soldier. Sevris neared the edge of the house with his roll and shuffled away from the edge.

The Zith stood up with his back turned. The roof looked like it would be able to hold them until he pounced. The foundation wasn't as sturdy as they would have liked. Though they would not know it yet. He folded his wings and turned around, a feverish look. He did not seem well. Possibly hunger has addled his mind.

Sevris returned the look with an intimidating expression. The double-bladed sword was in front of the Zith. Out of his reach. He had his Longsword on him as well, but he was not good with the blade quite yet. Sevris planned to use it when he could catch the Zith off guard.

Miriam should have subdued the female Zith by now, with the heavy hit Sevris gave her. So he was able to focus solely on the fight before him now. They began to circle each other as they held their hands ready to attack. He eyed the claws extended and ready to claw his eyes out. He would have to be on his guard to avoid them.

Sevris rushed him, and the Zith responded as well. Covering the small two meter distance away from them. The Soldier turned sideways and stepped towards him, pulling his leg back he peformed a side kick towards the abdomen. It connected, pushing him back slightly. But he resumed his attack by clawing at the Soliders helmet.

Instinctively he returned to to face him and put his arm up to block the Zith at his wrist. He did indeed block it, but the Ziths hands clutched his wrist and yanked him forward. A fist quickly crashed against Sevri's face, and he went spiraling backwards. His nose possibly broken as blood began to cascade from it. He was lifted off his feet but regained his balance as he stumbled backwards.

He wasn't done yet. The Lazarin raised both of his hands, putting his guard up as the Zith continued his onslaught.

The male Zith was fast and strong. He struck out at Sevris with several quick but powerful swipes. Aiming for his head and his chest protected area. It was a good thing that he was wearing armor as he noticed that the Zith was faster than he was when it came to hand to hand. Though there was only one thing working in his favor. Sevris's earlier attack had slowed the Zith down while he was on land.

He didn't move as fluid as he did before. With his dislocated shoulder he would still have to rely on a critical strike. Sevris had his arms raised already, so he was able to raise both hands to stop the the clawed strikes which tried to rip through his armor, but to no avail. However the last strike was underhanded and it caught him squarely in his abdomen.

Sevris was taking a beating. He had to wait to really get him in a spot. He was not without some skill as well. Taking the fight to the Zith he stepped forward landed a huge uppercut to his bare stomach. He keeled over slightly, taking some hurt. With his stone arm he grabbed an arm of the Zith and squeezed its wrist.

The Lazarin was satisfied to hear an audible crack. As he broke its wrist without pause. With his left hand he was able to unsheathe his Longsword. He brought it up and quickly chopped down at the Zith's arm. The Longsword was sharper than most. Even with his low ability with a single blade, it cut right through the arm like butter.

It cried out this time. Cursing in a language unknown to him. The male Zith fell backwards and onto the roof. He was injured heavily, blood began to squirt from the new stump. Sevris was in no hurry to heal him. He sheathed his blade thinking this fight was over. He bent down and grabbed the Zith by its short black hair and fur around his neck.

The Zith still had control of his wings and Sevris was getting pretty irked with the winged humanoid. He started smashing the Zith's face into the roof tiles. There was a about five good thuds one could hear below the roof. The Solider stopped after the Zith moved no more.
