2nd Day of Summer, 519 A.V.

Despite all his faculties, Quzon couldn't quite divine why he was standing within the Tidepool Bar. Oh, there was the obvious, of course; Indigo had told him that Mathias needed to see him here when the woman passed by his home. But at the same time, however, he was not a patron of bars or taverns. He’d have much preferred to venture with Indigo into the jungle to find out more about her. And yet, Quzon also felt like learning continuing his talk with Mathias about their patron deity.

The open nature of the bars construction allowed the placid orange light of a distant dusk to give everything a warm summer hue. He glanced around to find Mathias sitting at the bar along side two Verusk he'd really only seen in passing; which could describe most of his interactions with the other settlers. Mathias was in the process of retrieving a drink from Stu, but turned around upon noticing the sound of heavy boot falls.

"Ah, Quzon. You've made it. Please take a seat." The founder said while gesturing him forward. The Myrian was dressed in his typical loincloth, though lacked his normal hunters hide. It was far too hot for such things, so he kept it in the backpack he carried. He decided to take a seat next to the Verusk stationed to Mathias's left. "Quzon this is Kajun'tar, a rather knowledgeable Loremaster of antiquity. And to my right is Kiveth, a studious Leafshaper."

Quzon gave each of the males a nod followed by a grunted hello. He did not have much to say yet, so sat there politely waving down an offer Stu made about getting him a drink. Mathias reclaimed the silence after taking a sip from a fruit beverage concoction made by Stu.

"I've asked you all here because you can each help one another. You've all shown interest in Geology... and well, Kajun'tar. I don't need to tell you about Semele." The Founder stated with a slight chuckle. Quzon canted his head at the chuckle, which resulted in him eyeing over the male singled out by the Semele comment.

ImageKajun'tar seemed to shift in his seat a bit now that he'd become the focus of Stu, Mathias, and Quzon's attention. He lifted a drink to try to hide behind that, which let Quzon catch a glance of the bracelet on the males wrist covered in various stones.

Kiveth on the other hand, lifted a drink in salutations to the pale Myrian. Image"Welcome to team 'rocks are great'. I don't know much, but enough can be enough, am I right?" Kiveth's attention turned right to Stu upon taking a sip of his own drink. "What is in this? That banana and mango?"

Mathias finished off the rest of his drink then stood up. "I think you can see where I'm going with this. If you have any questions, they are most likely your best chance to learn more. So help each other." The Founder said before giving each of the men a nod, " and thanks for the drink Stu." Then with a magnanimous smirk, Mathias turned to go deal with the next thing on that endless to-do list within his head.

Despite Quzon's unintentional efforts to be as unsociable as possible, he had still somehow managed to make...Allies? Acquaintances? He wasn't entirely sure what to call them. Q had decided Kajun'tar was... a tolerable person, which was about as close to a compliment anyone would get from the Myrian on first impressions. He believed that Kiveth would probably annoy him, but he couldn't tell if Kiveth's attitude was always going to be so... upbeat? He hoped that like Kajun, the other was going to turn into a fairly quiet individual.

Nevertheless, Quzon would take advantage of the situation. "Quzon's job, to find stone and ore for Syka. What type earth should look for. And where." It was the first time Quzon had spoken at length, which revealed his obvious language barrier from broken way he spoke common. Kajun caught on from his accent that the man was Myrian, although the tattoos covering the Mixed bloods skin was also a dead give away to his culture. Kajun thought to himself for a moment before speaking up.

"There are many things around one can find. I'm sure there's claystone around to use for pottery. Likewise, where one finds clay there is slate stone; harder mudstone underfoot for building." Kiveth reintegrated into the conversation after a personal side bar with Stu about local mangos, "Flint is also another obvious stone to find if you look hard enough to make stone tools and fire starters."

Quzon glanced from one man to the other as they seemed to start throwing ideas left and right. Kajun seemed to come out of his shell, talking a bit more than what Quzon expected. "Limestones would be good to build with. The sea is full of life and water around, when creatures die, their skeletal and shelled debris would accumulate within sediment that can alter earth into limestone. And pure white marble is a very pure version of limestone."

Quzon took a mental note of what they were each saying. "Claystone, mudstone, flint, and limestone." He slapped his palm against the Bartop, then stood up causing the Verusk to both stare at him. "Come, Kajun'tar. Kiveth. Lets go. Work to do. Find stone and metals."

Quzon made his way out of the bar, assuming the others would follow. Kajun seemed interested enough in joining the hunt for various stone sources, though Kiveth took a moment to finish his drink before catching up to the two as they walked north towards Treasure Point.

"I don't think we are going to have much luck finding ore without going deeper into the earth. And you can just call me Kajun." Quzon gave a nod, knowing he could look one the sun dipped below the horizon in a bell or two. "You have stone on bracelet. You have piece of the stones, if so, Quzon can see?" If either of them had a collection of stones, it would help him when aided by his amulet.

"No, but you could possibly find pieces of clay if you stop by The Communal Kiln" Kiveth suggested as they continued to walk the beach. Kajun did not let himself the bracelet, but the man did seem to have a collection of small stones in a little belt pouch. As he shifted through them, Quzon spotted a gemstone he recognized."Was that emerald?" Quzon said as he took off his own backpack to retrieve the one emerald he had to show it to the Verusk.

"Yes it was..." Kajun stated while retrieving a small little pebble of white marble stone. "Can I see the emerald?," Quzon temporary traded the emerald to examine the marble stone. "Team Rocks are great proves it deserves it name for a reason." Kiveth started to laugh as the earth connoisseurs dabbled deeper into their craft.

“Cliffs of Stair Step Falls. Was going make home in cliff, did not. Too much water in area. Though, should see earth layers altered on steps and near river. Could be place to harvest clay deposits. Or Limestone.” Quzon started talking to the others while studying the tactile feeling of marble stone. Since the object did not belong to him, he did not use his usual routine of even tasting the stone. Instead, he reached out with his use of Auristics to examine its stone properties.

The stone in his palm had become the devoted anchor point of all his attention. That little alabaster pebble. That focus was used to circulate the djed within that his Well of power. Unlike when he tapped into his well to reimancy, Quzon was still not as effective with Auristics. If he only used what was necessary with reimancy, his eyes had become like thirsty man only taking a sip, then tossing the rest away.

Quzon knew that it was going to leave him tired, but tired was better than completely rendered unconscious. It was a momentary price he’d pay for the sake of knowing what to look for during the night. He could feel the djed pooling at the back of his eyes, allowing him to see a beautiful green swirl that was what he saw the marble aura basic physical properties. In a way, Quzon could tell though his eyes what the stone would taste like.

The intensity of his focus cause Quzon to stop walking as he just stared at his palm. The Verusks along side him stopped to watch what he was doing. He only started to notice the world around him again once he stopped concentrating on reading the stones aura. His breathing had become slightly labored, like he'd just run a mile without stopping. However, he did what he needed to do before trading the stone back to Kajun for his emerald.

"This emerald from Coalinga Mines of Riverfall. Mine abundant with gems." The Myrian did his best to calm his breathing down, but it was obvious that the bulky man was now very tired for some reason. "You alright there?" Kiveth said while absently waving a hand in front of Quzon's face. "You look like you went somewhere else for a tick."

The Aurist nodded after returning the emerald into his backpack. "Just needed to focus." Quzon looked to the sky to see where the sun was at, then remembered what childhood schooling he had in Taloba to gauge time and direction. He stood so that his shadow ran horizontal to his body in one long straight line that became an east west line.

It was what children were taught to travel in a straight line, so they could at least make it back to Taloba without getting lost. He then put his hand up so his pinky matched the horizon, shifting up by hands to count until his index finger hit the sun. A hand and a half meant there was still a a bell and thirty or so chimes from sun fall.

"Lets make haste to the Steps. Use last light to examine cliffs before I need to explore within." Both of the Verusks clearly wanted to ask him more questions about what just happened, but decided to get there before prying into what the Myrian could do.

The trios trip to Stair Step Falls went as quickly as possible. While they did not seem to talk about personal matter, they each did pass the time by stating what types of rocks they favored. Quzon reached into his backpack once more to pull out a singular Moonstone. "Thoughts have been on this gem for some time. Moonstone, believed to appear where Leth deems beautiful. Quzon thinks Syka might harbor some."

He then handed it to Kajun'tar who passed it to Kiveth before making it back to him. It was a line of thought the others seemed to agree with, if Leth growing stones based of beauty was even a factual thing. Quzon put the stone away as they all stood close to the area where the Clearwater river fell into the Suvan.

The slight waterfall was obviously a beautiful sight, but the three Geologists were more interested in the raised earth that the water fell from. Kiveth pointed to a portion of the cliff that seemed to have accumulated a dense amount of ivory white stone. "That looks like Rock Salt. The evaporation of Suvan waters must have formed in hard water clusters. But it looks minuscule and nothing worth mining. It might be enough to season a few meals. If we were near a desert sea though, we'd find enough rock salt to trade with."

Quzon pointed to the earth that was layered in stains of past water levels. The Suvan looked like it had lowered quite a bit. "That... normal?" Kajun canted their head to the side, taking note of the sings of the declining sea level. "Yes. That is odd. But, I believe you should be able to find marine limestone in this area." Quzon grunted in acknowledgement as he took a seat in the sand. He was still tired from his use of Auristics, so now just waited until the ring transformed him.

"Why are you so tired?" Kajun asked with some interest. Quzon was not a closed book, he had not reason to keep his magical use a secret. "Is new to the reading of Aura. Power weighs on the self." His broken use of 'The Self' meaning his Djed. It made the earth toned skinned Verusk nod. "I am no mage, but the workings of the arcane is an interesting subject. When did you first begin your studies?"

"Quzon of Taloba, from Barbed Earth Clan. Was initiated when young. Either I'd survive initiation to serve, or die. I survived. Was how clan gave me a future. A mixed blood male." Kajun nodded in understanding of the Myrian Culture. "The waring clans were united under chieftain Myri the Merciless. I'm surprised you were not destroyed at birth, or that your non-myrian could could even get near the city."

Quzon was a bit more talkative now that he was tired. It made wasting time until nightfall a lot more bearable for all involved. "Goddess-Queen Myri." The Myrian interjected at the disrespect to the power his queen earned. "Goddess-Queen Myri, Goddess of War. Proper title." She was a chieftain in mortal life, but was now a goddess.

The moment felt suddenly very tense as Quzon's Myrian half started to show in his body language. Quzon's broken understanding of common also made it seem like Kajun had insulted Myri, losing some of the good will in translation. As if Myri's power was still that of the past.

Kiveth motioned a hand towards Quzon to wave away his anger. "Excuse him Quzon, he loves to study the past, and talks as if things that were still are." The light blue gave the Verusk gave the darker skinned earth tone Verusk a side eye. Kajun wasn't quite sure what he'd said to earn the sudden ire of the half Myrian, but Quzon took a breath to ignore the displayed ignorance

As the nineteenth bell of the day transitioned into the twentieth, Quzon suddenly let out a loud grunt followed by the sound of a snapping bone. It was such an unnatural sound that Kajun and Kiveth both went completely silent. Whatever conversation going on was instantly killed as Quzon lifted his hand up to look at it. Quzon knew not to resit the transformation in any way. It made the Ring of Changes transformation a painless one, albeit a horrible sounding one to spectators.

Quzon laid back onto the ground to watch as his finger bones elongated, then grew three inch claws. The skin covering his entire body started to transition into a deep bronze color with dull grey and green hues. The pattern of his skin becoming scaled just like the Verusk he sat with. The change happened swiftly, so the next time he sat up, it appeared that there were now three Verusk sitting on the beach now.

"Uhh, explain?" Kiveth said both wholeheartedly and dumbfounded.
