Avatar question/opinion

I'm very new here, and the one thing I noticed was everyone's avatars. They're really nice. I'm stuck trying to figure out what type of avatar I should use. See, when I use to role play years ago on a much smaller site, I use to just draw my avatar and signature. They weren't bad, though I improved over the years. In your opinion, would it be better to do that or get a Photoshop rendition avatar?

Welcome Nivex!

I think you should go with the option that looks best to you. Chaktawe are human-looking, so you'd have plenty of pictures to choose from. Some people here draw their own avatars, and are very very good at it. Others are great at manipulating photos to make them fit their concept. I think what an avatar says about the PC is more important than its medium, but your mileage may vary.

Some people have tendency to like the photos of living people as their avatar, but obviously for some races some adjustment is required unless you find a really good pic. this is an avatar for a Chaktawe character I was toying with that I edited to make the eyes look correct, but never used. here is a picture of the same model, also edited. If you wanted to use either of those for a chaktawe PC you're welcome to them, as they aren't in use anywhere else. Personally, I prefer to draw my PCs because it lets me control every aspect of them... but for Pain, I actually use a blend of my drawings and a model I found that looks damned close.

Really it's up to you, whatever you think represents your character to the rest of Mizahar best is what you should use.

Thanks everyone, I think I know what I'm going to do. While I spify up my character information I'll start drawing my avatar (as soon as I get my tablet from my moms, which is probably lost in a bunch of junk). Anyway, thanks again!

I felt the same way when I first came.. I can't draw at all, and have crappy photo editing software, so I was stuck searching the net for days until I found a red-headed girl who wasn't a pornstar who there were multiple pictures of (i wanted to use the same model for all sira's pics) that looked like what I pictured Sira looking like. I still need to edit the eyes... but yeah, avatars are hard.

Your avatar is very pretty, and the pictures on your character sheet are neat as well. Is she famous somewhere?

Ummm.... if she is famous, I never heard of her until of course I chose her as my character model but her name is Susan Coffey which I believe I have noted somewhere in my character sheet... i think.. or maybe I meant to, but never did. But anyway, she has a website and all that, but I don't think she's famous or anything.

It took many many hours of sifting through various modeling sites, trying to avoid porn sites, de-virusing my computer, before finally settling on Ms Coffey here, but she just fit the bill perfectly and I have used her pics ever since.

I think your avatar is neat and cute! Some people use actors and actresses, models, porn stars, random people in the internet... it's really varied! Mostly it's up to you, but sometimes you wanna have that "closest thing to what my PC looks like" avvie.

You know what, your current avatar knocks it off with the eyes. Pretty violet eyes <3

Thats really nice. It does fit your PC perfectly, and with a site full of her modeling, you hit the jackpot

Thank you! I had trouble with it because of the quality. I had to use markers instead of using a paint program like I use to do.
