The Fall Meeting of the Cultural Council [Open to CCs]

Timestamp: Mid Fall
Location: The Meeting Room - Library Beneath The Temple Of All Gods
Invited: Abashai, Cosette, Niall, and anyone interested in being a cultural councilor

Three people worked together quietly conversing over what looked to be a corner meeting area rather than use the long meeting table at the other side of the room. With only six people expected, they didn't need the large table, only the small more intimate space in the corner. One, a Konti, was unpacking a series of journals and laying them out on the side tables for people to pick up. Ink followed, a small well with a quill for each person that could be easily held in ones hand, and then she was done. Glav, the priest, followed suit though his task involved stoking up the fire, doing a last minute dusting, and then fussing over whether to leave the basement window curtains open for light or to ignite the tapir candles on the table. He ended up lighting the candles and closing the windows because it was not only warmer but the light was better with the candles. While the meeting space was perfect, it was dark being in the basement of the Temple.

The third figure, the Grandmaster of the Syliran Knights, was busy setting out glasses in front of each place on the round coffee table in the center of the seating and pouring water into them. Precious chips of ice filled his pitcher and spilled over into the blown glass vessels. He seemed at home with the mundane task, which he followed by laying out snacks on a tray in the center of the table. There were fruits, vegetables, pieces of bread, and small meat pies that were bite sized.

When all was ready, the three positioned themselves by the door and waited for folks to wander in. This would be the first meeting of their grand experiment, and they all had high hopes it would be successful and beneficial to the city.

Abashai had put on freshly washed clothes and tried to fuss out the wrinkles. He wore a simple tan sleeved shirt instead of his sleeveless benshiran tunic, due to the cool autumn air that had descended on Syliras. He appeared uncharacteristically nervous, admitting as much to Nya, never having been part of anything official like the council. His bondmate encouraged him, her voice soothing and her words bolstering his confidence as she straightened out his collar. He picked up his sheathed dagger and slid it into his boot (though he did not carry his sword in the city, he was never without the dagger Nya had given him). Gratefully nuzzling the forest cat's cheek, Abashai thanked her and left their room on Traveler's Row for the Temple.

On the way, weaving around other pedestrians, Abashai wondered what to expect. Though he had begun to do the council's work since the beginning of the season, trying to locate benshiran in the city and helping them in anyway he could, Glav had never really indicated the broader topics the council would tackle as a whole.

Entering the Temple and descending to the lower level, the benshiran made his way to the corner library, the warm glow of candlelight spilling out of the room's doorway and into the hall. Abashai entered the meeting room and was immediately greeted by three individuals. He recognized Glav, giving his friend a smile and firm handshake. The next two he did not recognize. The konti woman was beautiful and stately with a friendly smile. The other man was a knight for sure, but Abashai did not recognize him either, though he had seen many of the knights since first coming to Syliras in the summer. With a slight nod of his head, the benshiran introduced himself first to the woman and then to the knight. "I am Abashai of the Benshira."

Re: The Fall Meeting of the Cultural Council [Open to CCs]

Postby Cosette Merryweather on December 30th, 2009, 8:51 pm

The pitter-patter of agonizingly slow steps echoed around her as a small girl with an excessively big cake in her arms finally reached the designated meeting place. By the noise she was picking up from within the chambers she was almost certain that she was late and that knowledge made her all the more tense.

Cosette had been preparing for this meeting since the day began and for all her efforts she was rewarded with a tall white cake that was just as pretty as it was delicious - or at least she hoped her attempt at drawing the windoak out of icing looked attractive to those who would see it.

The girl looked all prim and proper with her hair brushed and tied in a white bow. She had chosen a pastel pink dress that looked charming but at the same time simple and she had, for the first time in a long time opted to wear high-heeled sandals. The last thing she wanted to do here was make it look like all Nuit dressed shabbily and even if that wasn't far from the truth she should at least look decent amidst the other cultural counselors for the sake of her fellow men; 'No, nuit.' she corrected herself hastily.

Much too pre-occupied with keeping the tall cake from being damaged she only noticed who the the other two people standing beside father glav were. "I am Cosette Merryweather, of the Nuit." she gushed, sounding more frightened than polite. "A-a-a pleasure to finally meet you L-Lord Dyres and Lady N-Natra. I've never once thought I'd meet you two i-in person."

Cosette bowed her head slowly, though she wasn't at liberty to curtsy because of her present. She seemed tense, far too rigid despite the warm ambiance and if anyone even bothered to check her feet and both of them pointing perfectly straight in front of her.
