Soulmist Meditations (Solo)

6 Winter, 510 AV

Aello was sitting in a newly-abandoned building. She had snuck inside when she was certain that no one was watching, or as certain as she could ever be of such things. She was sitting with her back against the door. A thin red carpet lined the floor, but other than that, there was nothing in the room. A thin trickle of light poured in through the glass window to her left.

Aello was sitting silently, her bow leaning up against the door to her right, her bag resting in her lap, as she dug through her supplies and pulled out two glass jars- one was empty, the other contained three of the four ingredients needed to make soul mist. Aello placed the two jars on the floor, before setting her bag aside, it now rested under the window. A mixture of egg, flour, and soft cheese was floating around in one of the glass jars, and Aello looked at it unhappily. She would probably have to finish converting the substance into soulmist today, or her ingredients may prove to be far too vile for her to tolerate in the future.

Aello reached for the jar containing the beginnings of soulmist, and opened the lid. Immediately, the smell of rotting cheese and eggs floated up to her nostrils. Aello scrunched up her nose. Today had to be the day in which she finished making the mist. If she waited any longer, the ingredients were sure to go to waste, she already had a difficult enough time making the mist without throwing up, after all.

Aello gulped, as she closed her eyes and reached into the jar with her right hand. Her hand touched something slimy, and her fingers reluctantly closed themselves around the substance, pulling a small amount out, and lifting her cupped hand to her lips. When her hand had risen to her mouth, she parted her lips, and tilted her hand back, the mixture splashed into her mouth, and the taste of raw, rotten egg and cheese filled her mouth.

Aello struggled not to spit the mixture out. Her eyes were burning, and starting to tear as she reached for her eating knife and cut across her left pointer finger, lifting her finger above her mouth, and letting her blood spill onto her tongue. One crimson drop, two blood drops, three, four, five... When five drops of blood had spilled into her mouth, Aello pulled her finger away, and let both of her hands rest on the red carpet. Surely she couldn't ruin the thing with her blood stains, it was already red after all.

Aello sighed, as she started to chew the mixture in her mouth. Today was sure to be an unpleasant day, she thought silently to herself, as she closed her eyes tightly. Everything tasted disgusting and she just wanted to spit it out. But she couldn't let herself do that, she had to make the mist. So she sat silently, and chewed, forcing herself to meditate to the best of her ability, even though she couldn't breath out through the mouth very well. Her nose would have to suffice for the meditation, as would her imagination, and general ability to visualize during the meditation.

Soulmist Meditations (Solo)

Postby Aello on January 19th, 2011, 1:53 am

Aello closed her eyes, and assumed the lotus position. Her hands were resting on her knees, palms facing up towards the ceiling. She was breathing evenly- in through the nose, out through the nose. She was chewing on the soulmist ingredients slowly, trying not to get too disgusted or worked up about the vile taste in her mouth, as she began to visualize an apple in her mind's eye.

The apple was a deep red, with bright red and green undertones. A short brown stem stuck out of the top, but contained no leaves. The apple seemed shiny, and had one bruise on its upper right side. The skin was rather smooth, and there were no holes or other blemishes other than that one bruise. Aello could feel her mouth watering, despite the nasty soulmist mixture in her mouth.

Aello now imagined a sharp pointy knife- very much so like her eating knife. Non-serrated silver blade, a few inches long. Black handle. She imagined the knife cutting the apple in half, the two pieces falling to the ground, fleshy surface facing the sky. The knife was covered in sticky apple juice, and the smell of fresh apple was floating up to her nostrils. Aello breathed in deeply, letting it all in. She smiled happily, as she examined the two slices of apple. The flesh was an off-white, with golden tints. Juice sparkled on its surface, like the morning dew on grass. Four brown seeds were exposed, closest to the apple core. Three were in the one on the right, poking out of the surface, and another one in the apple slice on the left. The apple's flesh was gradually growing more and more golden, and then, a light brown. Aello was sitting silently, watching it change, as she continued chewing on the soulmist mixture, and slowly breathing in and out through her nose.

Slowly, Aello reached her hand out to the apple half on her right, she picked it up, and lifted it to her mouth. She took a bite. The apple was crisp, and juicy, it tasted sweet. The apple crunched beneath her white teeth, the juice swishing around in circles with her saliva. Aello smiled happily, satisfied with its taste. Aello took three deep breaths, in through the nose, out through the nose, and then counted one, two, three, four five. Aello then opened her eyes. She was instantly reminded of the task at hand, and the vile taste in her mouth. That apple had tasted far better, even though it was only a figment of her imagination. Aello kept chewing, a little faster now, hoping the task would be over with soon enough, so she could spit the soulmist out and into a jar.

OOCThis entirely post is essentially visualization/meditation, thought I'd tell you, keep you from getting confused.

Soulmist Meditations (Solo)

Postby Aello on January 23rd, 2011, 7:41 pm

Aello chewed and chewed until her eyes started to water with the pungent smell, and her nostrils flared up and turned red around the edges in disgust. Her heart was sinking in her chest, as she wondered when on earth the mist would be done, because she felt like she had been chewing for an eternity, and if this strange self-imposed torture didn't end soon, Aello was convinced she would a) throw up all over the place, b) her brain would explode, c) her whole body would explode, d) she would kill herself for putting herself through this nonsense, e) she would be too sick to notice anything going on around her for quite some time, f) she would be possessed by a ghost while she was busy being sick, g) all of her possessions would be stolen while she sat around being sick... the list of possibilities seemed endless.

The horrible taste in Aello's mouth danced and danced across her tongue, the mixture squishing and sloshing around in her mouth, filling the tiny crevices in-between her teeth and her gums. Aello's face turned white, and then a sickly green. Her palms were sweaty, her brow was sweaty, her eyes were sweaty and felt heavy, and Aello had to fight to keep them open. When would it end? Aello wondered, as she continued to chew on the mixture even more furiously now, squashing its contents between her teeth. She could feel the tiny bubbles forming at the side of her cheeks, and then popping over and over again. Yet, her saliva felt like it was receding into the confines of her cheeks, as though they were scared, incapable of being excited and brought to life over the soulmist that was brewing in her mouth, which made Aello wonder, just what was bubbling inside her.

After a few more excruciatingly painful minutes, Aello's mouth began to grow cold. It felt like her teeth had turned into tiny icicles, and her tongue had frozen over. It felt like an ice storm had taken up residence in the confines of her mouth, and that her lips had been injected with an icy-cool breeze. The mist was ready, Aello knew it was ready. She reached for the empty glass jar with her right hand, and brought it to her. She pulled the lid off with her left hand, and brought the jar to her mouth. Slowly, she parted her pale lips, and breathed an off-white gel into the jar. Soulmist. Aello's lips trembled as she finished breathing everything she had made into the jar, before pulling it away, and refastening the lid. That was enough for one day, Aello thought, as she put the jar down. She had only made enough soulmist to fill half the container. How pitiful, all that torture for next to no results...

Soulmist Meditations (Solo)

Postby Aello on January 24th, 2011, 1:26 am

Aello sat quietly for a few minutes. Her back was still pressed against the door, and was starting to grow numb. She leaned forward, and away from the door, hopefully, she would begin to regain feeling in it again soon, she thought, as she sat up straight and resumed the lotus position. Perhaps meditating would help her relax and get her mind off things- like the disgusting taste of soulmist mixture that lingered on the tip of her tongue.

Aello breathed in deeply, in through the nose, and then out through the mouth, as she rested her hands on her knees, palms face-up toward the ceiling. Aello closed her eyes, and took another few deep cleansing breaths. Then, she concentrated on the tip of her nose- how it felt. Cold, kind of itchy. Aello twitched it back and forth as she continued to take deep cleansing breaths, in through the nose, and then out through the mouth. She began to count in her head with each inhalation and exhalation. Inhalations were odd numbers, exhalations were even numbers. One, Aello breathed in, held her breath for five seconds, allowing her lungs to feel full, two, and she blew it out. Three, Aello breathed in, held her breath for five seconds, four, and she let her breath out. Aello's chest was rising and falling steadily with each inhalation and exhalation. Her heart beat was steady, and she was starting to grow more and more relaxed. Five, Aello breathed in, six, Aello breathed out. Aello continued counting until she reached the number ten, and then she started all over again with her count. She repeated this cycle five times, before finishing her count, and releasing her concentration from her nose. A great sense of peace, and calm had washed over her since the beginning of her meditation; the vile taste still lingered in her mouth however, although it had greatly improved. Aello opened her eyes. It was time for her to go off on her latest and greatest adventure, whatever that may be.

  • +2 Meditation
  • +2 Spiritism

You Question My Logic? :
So the meditation points were awarded because it must have been really hard to stay so focused when eating something so disgusting. I would have only given one though, most likely, except that you continued to meditate afterward and I thought you described the process quite well. The spiritism I awarded two points for, because making soul mist is something Aello has done before so she was really only repeating something she already knew how to do. I gave the second point because it was really difficult for her, being so disgusting. If you feel I missed anything or have short handed you in any way, please feel free to PM me.

Lores: Soulmist is Vile, Is the jar Half Empty, or Half Full?

Notes: I like reading your threads. Keep up the good work. Oh, and I'm going to be PMing you some time tomorrow about our dagger.
Forecast for tonight... Dark
