:)Please don't kill my character. I still need her :)). Though it would be interesting if she suddenly lost control and turned to Ara.

"Oh, damn. Damn. Damn. Damn." Niah repeated in her mind cursing her own stupidity. "Why didn't I just give him the bag. It only had food damn it. No me and my loud mouth." Niah did notice how he had missed one of her knives and wondered how she could use this to her advantage. She didn't have an unlimited amount of daggers, but if she send them rapidly, one after the other, maybe... "Oh curse this day!" she growled out loud "Why did I forget my rapier at home?"

"I am not a freaking street rat!" she yelled angrily and send two daggers flying at the same time in different spots, one aimed at his leg to slow him down, the other aimed upwards at his head. He couldn't possibly catch both in time, could he? "I'm a freaking violinist if you really want to know thanks to Ara. You're lucky you get to take over whenever you want, I only appear when there's trouble around."

She turned around and ran a little more, using a tree as her shield and grabbing two other small daggers from her belt. She had one left and the tamo daggers that she never threw because she needed some weapons on her. "You whatever your name may be!" She glared at him and his knife "Don't wanna make a compromise or something." She glanced around madly trying to find any possible way to hide or run away and finding none. Gulping she felt fear cloud her heart and muttered to herself..."I'm sorry Ara. I may not be strong enough this time."

[The Sunset Falls] Two sides to a coin [Morvik Sutinal/Open]

Postby Jonathon DuFraine on January 24th, 2011, 6:55 am

Jonathon whistled a merry tune, as he wandered through the forest. He was feeling great today, unusual for him. The sun was shining, it was warm for a winter's day, the air was cool and crisp, and Jonathon had no responsibilities. A perfect day, out in the wilderness. He heard the sounds of a waterfall nearby; sounds like a good place to relax the day away.

Jonathon walked into the clearing, smiling brightly. Thwip! a dagger thunked into the tree next to him. Jonathon stared at it in complete surprise. What the hell? Jonathon looked towards the thrower, and say what looked like a human girl, petite. Probably quite young, and wielding throwing daggers. But she wasn't focused on Jonathon, she was paying attention to something else. A ways away, an Akalak stood, or more accurately appeared to be engaging the girl.

In the name of Caiyha... Whatever was going on here, it didn't appear to be a joyous picnic in the forest. This looked like a mugging, or maybe something worse. Jonathon briefly remembered what happened the last time he interfered in others' business in the forest; not a fun time, but this appeared to be a real attack. Jonathon ran forward to protect the girl, who was currently hiding behind a tree. She was saying something, but Jonathon cut her off.

"STOP! What is this? Are you some common monster to attack a young woman?" The words didn't come out quite right, but they made sense, and it was harder then most realized to dialogue on the spot, especially in a tense situation. Although it seemed the female could defend herself, the expression on her face spoke of fear, and the Akalak was much bigger than her. Jonathon hadn't drawn a weapon yet, but he kept his hand on his short blade. He wasn't much good with the small weapon, but it could pack a punch.

Also, it appeared that the Akalak was in the middle of a charge. Hopefully his authoritative voice would stop the bandit before he crashed into Jonathon. There goes my good day.

[ooc: Don't worry, I won't kill anyone. The most I'll do is steal your crap (with your permission of course). Sorry it took me so long to post...I didn't see the second page =P ]
Felavik continued to smile maniacally as he saw two more flashes in front of him. This time, both of them were coming at the same time at different heights. A good strategy, but there was a flaw. They were both in a straight line going vertical. Felavik simply side stepped the daggers and stretched out his hands. He succeeded this time in catching the head-level dagger.

Whatever you say, girly. Maybe we can make a compromise. Give me everything you own and I’ll give you a higher life expectancy.” Felavik called, cackling with glee. Hewas about to throw his dagger when he heard a rather insulting call from somewhere behind him.

He paused for a second to look back. It was a short, brown-haired human. He seemed to be on the verge of drawing his weapon, but hadn’t yet. In other words, no threat. Only possible gain. Felavik grinned, if possible, even wider. Now here was a chance for some more profit. The newcomer seemed to have slightly more expensive weapons, and he was also sure to have another sack full of food. The crazed akalak casually tossed the dagger at the strange newcomer, aiming for the chest area, then started to jog after the girl again.

It was always a good idea to conserve energy when fighting more than one opponent after all. He hoped that the newcomer would come into close range to save the little girl. He was confident that he could destroy either of them with his fists if they came into close range.

Niah was running out of ideas. So far the Akalak had dodged all of her daggers and still had enough stamina to run around and chase her. And she was running out of daggers. Grabbing her last one she ran from her shelter behind the rock and stopped behind a tree.

The proposal the Akalak made wasn't all that thrilling for Niah so she peered from behind the tree to see what her enemy was doing. A second man appeared at the Falls and this one was preparing to charge against the Akalak who apparently decided she was the better target as she appeared to be a damsel in distress.

"Hey you! Don't underestimate me!" she yelled angrily at the Akalak upon understanding his ideas. "Idiotic men!" she grumbled and waited with her dagger balancing in her hand. "I would have offered to put in a good word for you at the Employment Office and even give you some gold mizas in Syliras to crash at the inn, but that guy over there is a wealthy merchant. I'm sure he can help you out." she lied between her teeth and threw her last dagger making it make a bolt in the air appearing as if she missed. If she had managed the move it would make the blade crash in the Akalak's shoulder.

"If he dodges this, I'm dead." she muttered to herself.

Jonathon heard the girl's ruse, but he had another plan in mind. Of course, if he could he would pull off the merchant thing, or maybe even a Syliras Knight out for a hunt. The dagger thrown at him was clumsy and missed badly, but Jonathon was angered all the same, and he couldn't see a realistic diplomatic way out of this situation. All right, this isn't some misunderstanding. Time to dish out the pain.

Jonathon drew and strung his ever-present bow with the speed and grace that comes from regular use. Swiftly he knocked an arrow, aimed quickly at the Akalak, and fired, aiming loosely for the shoulder. Another arrow was fired just as quick, at the same general area. Jonathon knocked a third.

"All right, bandit, surrender now or get shot like the animal you are." Jonathon aimed directly at the Akalak's head. With Jonathon's skills, and at this range, the arrow would easily find it's mark. Jonathon waited for the Akalak to surrender, nervous but professional. Even an Akalak would have to surrender under such conditions; even if he dodged the first arrow another would soon follow.

OOCAll right, we've reached a threshold. I don't want to kill any PC's, of course, but right now we must decide if anyone shall be mortal this thread. You both have decided not to kill each other, but I haven't yet, and I firmly believe in realism. The two arrows were hastily shot, but realistically one should have hit the shoulder. You can decide the hits and misses of the matter, though, as you see fit, and I won't care if you dodge em both. Now, though, I have you under my sight and ready to fire. If you continue attacking, realistically you will have a high chance of dying, and I think a promise to not kill you would be unfair. So, do what you think you should do, but I can't ion good conscious let you commit crimes under fire without at least an injury; it just wouldn't be fair.

Felavik turned around as he heard the twang of the shortbow. One of the arrows missed his body but the other’s aim was true. It was about to hit him in the shoulder, but Felavik was able to just deflect the arrow with the tip of his Lakan. Another knife came flying from the other side, and Felavik was barely able to duck under it, caught by surprise. Felavik sprawled to the floor and lay there, contemplating his options.

The man didn’t exactly seem like a master archer but he seemed competent. And even competent wasn’t good in this case. He knew that he may be able to take 1 or 2 shots at the most and survive. His scale mail armor, hidden under his traveling cloak, would help him additionally in warding off the arrows. Fighting however, did not seem like the best option in this case. He knew no long range technique and there was no way that he would be able to get into hand to hand range without getting shot full of arrows. Forfeit of course, was highly embarrassing and Felavik would rather die than simply give up. There seemed only one logical solution. He sheathed his Lakan and…

Moravik Sutinal woke up from his nap. For some reason, it seemed as if he had been sleeping in the middle of the forest. He had woken up to a harsh shout and he looked around, confused. He saw a vaguely familiar girl running away from a stranger wielding a shortbow. There was a number of knives stuck in random places across the vicinity. His own trusty Lakan was still in its sheath. Moravik was outraged. This evil bandit was trying to shoot a poor innocent woman. A voice in the back of his head told him to attack. “Defend righteousness.” “Yell out your courage.”

How dare you attack that innocent little girl. I’ll give you one chance to put down your weapons before I am forced to defend the poor lass.

Felavik smiled inwardly. He had the perfect plan. The stranger was sure to drop his guard and let them go now. And technically their honor hadn’t been bent because they hadn’t given up. The girl seemed to know about the twin nature of his mind, but Felavik hoped that their morals wouldn’t allow them to attack someone who was as nauseously good as Moravik.

If worse did come to worse, Felavik knew that he and Moravik working together was a much more formidable fighting force than just one of them working alone. Although Moravik still didn’t know about Felavik’s presence, he was used to fighting with his “instincts”. One personality working on only movement and defense, while the other quickly switching in to attack. It was a fighting style available to very few individuals, but it was a formidable one.

OOCBasically, realistically speaking Niah would be in no way or shape able to kill him. :)

Niah's eyes widened as she saw the Akalak drop to the ground and close his eyes? What was he doing. Using the moment of pause she had been given, the girl peered from her shelter and watched curiously what was going on next. The newcomer still had an arrow readied in his bow; just in that moment the Akalak rose and looked around with curious and outraged eyes. And then it came... another justice speech.

'Oh great!' Niah mused to herself 'He just changed again. That's simply brilliant.' Leaving her shelter she threw him a dark glare and cried out. "The poor man was defending me from..." she cringed as she felt the need to play the damsel in distress card "an enraged wild boar who wanted to attack me." Ok, that was one pathetic line as far as she was concerned. She turned around and walked to the man motioning him to be quiet.

"Thank you for your help. My name is Niah." she stopped just in front of him and muttered silently in order not to be heard by the other one "Split personality." She grabbed one of her daggers that was nearby her and put it back at her belt, realizing that she had four simple daggers and two double-bladed ones that she had to find in the grass.

Jonathon watched coolly as the Akalak deflected an arrow with his weapon. Well, on the outside he looked collected; on the inside he had just sworn up a a storm. Jonathon had never seen an Akalak in battle, and it most definetly kicked ass. But the Akalak wasn't quite good enough to charge an archer without a helmet, so he lay down on the grass.

Jonathon was about to put away his bow when the Akalak suddenly got up again, but in a totally different frame of mind. It appeared to be the one doing the threatening now, telling him to screw off and that he was hurting the girl.

Jonathon was beyond confused. But then the girl explained how Jonathon had saved her from a 'wild boar'- close enough to the truth, although Jonathon shuddered at the words 'wild boar'. He'd had enough of that last hunting trip...

The girl whispered into his ear about the multi-personailty-thing. Multiple personalities? What the hell? Jonathon wished that he would stop running into these dubious characters on his walks, but for some reason Caiyha saw fit to throw them at him. Jonathon sighed, lowering his bow a bit, but not much.

"So, what? Is this some kind of trick? What do we do, then, girl? I don't know. If his 'alternate personality' rears it's head again, he could kill someone. I can't in good conscious let him go free. What he needs is an asylum." Jonathon pulled his arrow away from the bow, but didn't let go of either, and sighed.

"So, what now?"

Morvik's brows unfurled when he heard that nobody was really in trouble.

"Just a wild boar, eh? Its too bad I was just asleep, for I could have easily protected you from such a threat."

Morvik was genuinely happy that there were men that were as good as this. To protect the innocent woman from a wild boar was a powerful feat for a simple human to accomplish. Morvik was so happy, both at the man's good will and his prowess, that he barely noticed the woman whispering something to her saviour. He did, however, notice what the man said afterward. He wasn't sure if the stranger had wanted him to hear or not, but it was very disturbing to him. He, the most noble Akalak to ever be born. The only one to never have developed a dark brother...sent to the Cerulean asylum. Even worse, the stranger thought that he would possibly hurt another being. The disgrace was too much.

For the first time ever, negative thoughts started to flow through Moravik's head. Thoughts of revenge for the dishonor that the stranger had spoke. Moravik forced the bad thoughts out of his head. This was a good person who had just said the wrong thing. He probably didn't know anything about Akalaks and was just trying to be helpful. Moravik shook his head noncommitally and stood there, hoping that the female would help him get rid of the disgrace and stick up for him. He knew from being raised by his mother, that human females could be very persuasive.

Niah was close to banging her head on the nearest tree... first the newcomer called her "girl". She was twenty years old and she had just told him her name. Then, like all male beings, he had the understanding of a teaspoon. You don't go yelling in the woods about split personalities when the person in question is right next to you. She saw Morvik get a tad angry then gaze at her with desperation in his eyes hoping she could solve the whole misunderstanding. The thing was she couldn't... but she knew someone who could.

Closing her eyes and gently retreating inside herself she woke Ara up giving her some signals in order to understand what had happened, but not the real truth. The story was that Morvik did something wrong due to a misunderstanding and she had to convince the stranger to leave the Akalak alone. Opening big blue eyes that soon clouded with tears she gazed pleadingly at the newcomer.

"You have to let him alone." A few tears escaped her eyes and Ara looked as pitiful as possible. "He doesn't know he did something wrong, it's not his fault. We can help him straighten his way, get a job in Syliras, earn some money on his own."

After that statement was made, Ara closed her eyes again and Niah resurfaced."That was very naive of her..." she mutter than gazed at the stranger and said in the same hushed tone "I repeat my name is Niah. The one you have just witnessed is Ara. I won't go into detail why there's two of us, but believe me if I let her go and she is the true owner of this body she won't let you go until you take Morvik over there, home and get him a job. So we can do this: take him to the Employment Office and get him a job or let Ara deal with you two." She smiled wickedly and waited for an answer, then added. "And what in the name of Rhaus is your name?".
