Let's Go Shopping pt. 2 (Moritz x Evalynn)

Eva watched as Moritz gently but forcefully put himself between her and the women, feeling them reluctantly let her go. She rubbed her arms softly as their grip was a bit strong and pressed against Moritz's back and peeked around him, feeling safe enough to look at the women. However, instead she got caught Moritz intimidating the women back as they wore a look of shock before becoming entitled. They started screeching at Mortiz about how they wouldn't let some rude boy shop at their stall and that he assaulted them but they were going to let him go. Evalynn was shocked at how an adult could, let alone three, could have the audacity.

"Let's leave, these women are out of their minds." Eva tugged on Moritz to retreat as the woman just seemed to be huffing away their frustrations on him while keeping a safe distance away. She wanted to try and look at their wares, but after this customer service, she was more inclined to just run away. "I am sure I can find more hygiene items elsewhere. Ones that aren't made by touchy vendors."

She glared at the women, and if Moritz allowed, she would once again lead them away from the stand, still feeling their glares. She was unaffected by them, and instead focused on holding onto her guide and finding a different stall far away from here. After a bit, she slowed down and gently leaned on his arm, taking in a few breaths before taking up Moritz's hand.

"Thank you so much for stepping in. I know you didn't have to, but I am so thankful for it." She looked up at him and smiled with a kind smile. "You actually saved my life, as I don't know what I would've done if you hadn't stepped in." And this much was true. Eva started feeling overwhelmed at the strange women just touching all over her without warning or context. It was strange, and a feeling in her gut said if she let them keep going they would've found out about who she was. And if that happened…she may have to have initiated her promise to herself and therefore go back into hiding.

The thought of that caused her to squeeze onto Moritz as she couldn't think about just up and leaving him. But with her life on the line, a romance just beginning was painfully less important than that. But the moment was interrupted when her stomach growled loudly and her eyes went wide. Was it already time to eat? Has that much time really passed? She gave a chuckle and shrugged a bit.

"Are you hungry? I don't know what's around, but I hope to eat something you pick." With that, she now allowed Moritz the option to choose where they were eating. Maybe they could have some small talk as they did so. But then again, they needed to hurry up with the shopping trip and not stall too much, which was something Eva so desperately would rather do in his presence.

Let's Go Shopping pt. 2 (Moritz x Evalynn)

Postby Moritz Craven on May 22nd, 2022, 1:29 am

While the various woman got angry at Moritz actions, he did not back down at all knowing he was in the right. They had been the ones to just randomly start touching someone without permission. And besides, he had not even hurt anyone, just lightly batted their hands away from Evalynn's body.

So he continued his glare to stare them down until they moved off and Evalynn seemed ready to leave. If they kept causing trouble he would find a nearby Keiss guard, and he did not doubt whose side they would take.

Once she was ready he moved off with her, glaring at the woman as he left but otherwise not escalating things. He did not want a fight, but would protect himself and his friends if he needed to.

It was not hard to see that Evalynn was strongly affected by the event, clearly not happy about being man handled. He himself did not really like being

Moritz simply shrugged in response, not really considering it anything too amazing but just something expected of a person escorting someone else in a new place. Although, he had to admit, him liking her and vice versa did give him some extra incentive to do so, but he was fairly certain he would do the same for a friend or other person with him in the market.

He simply looked down at her and smiled, enjoying the feeling of having her by his side. Squeezing her close in return Moritz smiled as they walked. However this did not last long as Evalynn seemed distracted by her stomach grumbling.

Moritz was not starving but he could certainly eat, and so replied with a shrug while considering her question of where they could go. He was fairly certain there were other places to eat in the outpost, but the only place he knew of was the Courtyard Cantina. He had been there several times and enjoyed it, but did not really know any other place. But of course Moritz was also a creature of habit, and having found a place he liked he tended to return there regularly rather than venturing out to new places.

Spending a few moments thinking Moritz got his bearings, recalling where they were and had gone... They were here... And had moved along here and here... And then here... So the entrance area was over here... And from there he knew where the Cantina was over... Here... So all they had to do was go... That way, then over here... Which more or less meant retracing their steps back the way they had come.

Turning about Moritz led them back through the bazaar more or less where they had come from, making a point to avoid the angry woman from earlier and keep some distance from their booth. Otherwise Moritz did his best to get back through their steps quickly, wanting to get Evalynn something to eat fast. They turned here.. Went past this booth... Past that person... And... In the end, came back out of the bazaar close to where they had first entered.

From there Moritz picked up the pace, out of the heavy flow of people, and made their way to the entrance to the Cantina. Passing through some open iron gates they ended up in an open room with lots of arches and pillars. Also notably the dining area had no roof, just linen draping over it to block out the beating sun but to let heat travel upward and out.

For dining there were numerous tables with chairs, and at the moment there were not too many patrons as it was a bit early for a lunch but late for breakfast.

Coming inside a dark haired woman was bringing out some food to a table, and seeing Moritz heading inside smiled and nodded at the Kelvic. "The usual Moritz? I'll be over in a bit to take your guests order."

While she deposited the food and spoke to the other patrons Moritz found them an empty table a bit out of the way and away from anyone else currently dining to give them a bit of privacy. Moritz would offer Evalynn a seat and help her in sitting before taking his own chair. Shortly afterwards Mela would return and introduce herself to Evalynn before explaining the menu and taking her order. Moritz more or less always ordering the same thing when he entered she did not bother with, simply confirming he was eating with a shrug of the Kelvics shoulders in reply. For his part of the order he tended to get the kebabs, namely vegetable kebabs with rice and some kind of plant based sauce, though without the other animal based items on the plate. Mela would bring this out later once Evalynn's food was ready, assuming she put in her order and decided what she wanted.

Eva felt a bit burdensome with her sudden hunger, especially since they still hadn't gotten all of their shopping done. But then again, they did get to window shop and she got to experience some of the Outpost so it wasn't a total bust. Plus she got a lovely new bag and cooking pot which she was hoping to use soon. As she allowed Moritz to think, she started to scan the crowd and locked onto a stall just close by that was selling journals. She peeked up at Mortiz, confirming he was still deep in thought, at least she hoped, and tried slipping away for a spell to buy the book. No haggling or negation, just buying a leather bound journal for 2 GM and quickly coming back to Moritz's side before he led them off.

As they were walking, she stuffed the journal in her pack and continued walking, seemingly backtracking their way towards the Dovecote. Was he having them leave? She shook her head as she had asked where a good place to eat was. This was his answer, or lack thereof because of his twisted tongue. Eva stayed quiet along their way, watching as they traveled back to the Dovecote, went in one direction, and made their way into an eating area. Eva took a moment to match her pace with Mortiz as they walked through the iron gates, but once she did she would take in the area. It wasn't much to look at, a simple pillared area with shade being provided by some hanging linens.

It wasn't so crowded in the area, given the time of day, so when they entered the eatery they were immediately greeted by a worker. And apparently one who knew Moritz well as she beamed a smile and stated she would put his usual in while coming over later to get her order. Eva gave the woman a quick look and took in her great service to the community before following up with Moritz to the table. She took the seat that he had offered and gave a nod with thanks, watching him sit across from her. After a moment, the waitress they had seen earlier brought her way over and started off with a quick introduction before explaining the menu and taking Eva's order. A garlic ginger fried fish sandwich with a side of white steamed rice and a veggie melody.

Once Mela took the order, she scurried off to enter it, leaving the pair to their own devices. Eva pondered for a moment and looked at Moritz, knowing that small talk would just sound like really, really weird stories or just straight sarcasm. However, she never really liked sitting in silence, so even if he did respond strangely, she still wouldn't care. Leaning forward and resting her arms on the table, she gave a smile and watched Moritz's reaction.

"Hey, I wanted to ask, would this shopping trip be considered our first date?" She had to admit, it didn't feel like a shopping trip the moment they held hands at the Dovecote. She was convincing herself that they were actually on a date and maybe Moritz thought so too. So coming out to ask this was essentially hammering the nail into the idea, or however that saying went. Then another question came to mind and she asked it right after, even before he would respond. "Actually, if this is our first date, would that mean we are a couple?"

She raised her bow at the idea and sat back with a thoughtful look on her face. She was waiting for his answer, but before it came, the waitress swooshed in with a smile and placed their food down. Her mouth immediately watered as her eyes looked over the succulent fish sandwich and fluffy rice and steamed veggies. Or were those stir fried? She couldn't tell, it just looked really good.

Let's Go Shopping pt. 2 (Moritz x Evalynn)

Postby Moritz Craven on May 24th, 2022, 1:52 am

As Moritz was working out the best place to go, he noticed as Evalynn wandered off from him. However he quickly saw she was not going far, and so just silently watched while working out a place. By the time she had returned with a book slipping into her pack Moritz had settled on a place and was ready to show her.

He wondered on seeing that if she also had had ink and a quill to write with, but since she had only purchased a book - a blank one he assumed since it was in this section- he assumed she had those already. He himself did not really see much of a need, seeing as he had a pretty good memory. Well except, he reminded himself, for names... He was bad at recalling names of people. And people in general. He could usually recall roughly where he knew a person from, particularly if they were in their normal setting, but outside of that setting or with other changes... So perhaps he did need to start taking notes... It was one of the few things he could recall his mother scolding him for, forgetting names, though that might have been more related to whose name he had forgotten which had been important people in Lhavit.

Evalynn's dish was a mix of fish and plant, whereas his was entirely plant based as she would see when it came out. Though how much attention she would pay to the particular types of food he had he was unsure. He did not actively oppose others eating meat or partaking of animals, he just did not himself.

For a few moments they sat in silence and Moritz just stared across the table into her eyes, not really feeling a need to fill the wordless moments and instead just enjoying her presence.

However soon enough this moment was broken by Evalynn herself, beginning by asking a question. He was a bit surprised at hearing her ask her first question, was this a date? Where they dating? Was this their first date? Where they a couple? His initial reaction of surprise sent his star turning a bright yellow, but as he considered things it faded to a more subdued grey color. Taking only a few moments to think on this Moritz quickly realized there was not much to think about, and reaching out his hand across the table he moved to put his atop her own, his star once more a bright pink hue.

He did not in that moment dare say anything, knowing quite well how a lie to that particular question could end, but instead smiled and gazed into her eyes while holding her hand, hoping his actions would make his thoughts clear.

As he thought on this, Moritz realized he was less than clear on what a couple did. He knew some basic things, and understood some bits in passing, but the particulars, the details, were a bit on the obscure side. What did couples do? Besides apparently go on dates, which they had now done...

Having responded so quickly to her query Moritz managed to beat the food, letting go of her hand only once he saw it would interfere with their eating and as Mela placed the food before them. He immediately picked up one of the kebabs across the rice, dipping a piece of the cooked vegetable in the sauce on the side of the plate before pulling it off with his teeth in one bite. He took his time chewing, enjoying the flavor and the mix of the hot pepper and cool sauce.

With that he would quickly make his way through his food at a speedy rate, chewing through the kebabs with the sauce one piece at a time, and then finishing the kebabs one after another. Once he was done there was still the rice and some sauce and so Moritz mixed the two and began forking that into his mouth as well. He did try to pause on occasion to chew and enjoy the taste, but he was always pressing on to the next bite until his plate was clean. Perhaps he could make something like this in the bar where he worked?

Eva caught the quick flashes of color on his stone and smiled, getting enough of an answer from that. He too found this to be a date, and his placement on top of her hand solidified the feelings. She smiled warmly and admired Moritz eat, intrigued by the speed of which he was eating. It's no wonder why the wait staff knew him so well, this must be his go to spot. She looked down at her sandwich and picked it up, taking a bit as she went into her own thoughts.

If the two of them were dating, that means she would need to investigate into him to see if he was trustworthy enough to open up to. She was doing a well enough job to make sure he didn't find out anything about her, and with his twisted tongue issue it wasn't like he was able to give her away. But what if he finds a cure for his ailment? He would be sitting on a treasure trove of information that he could cash in at any moment. Eve quickly casted a glance up at Mortiz before shaking her head slightly and taking a bite of rice.

She chewed slowly as she went back to thinking. How would she figure out if he was trustworthy enough to open up? Usually, time would allow a person to reveal that, but that isn't always the case for when someone's life is a factor. Eva had finished her sandwich and was working on her rice and veggies when she looked up at Moritz. He had already nearly finished and Eva raised her brows in surprise, chuckling a bit. She never encountered a speedy eater, or was he just that hungry? Either way, she found it cute and took her napkin and gestured for Moritz to come closer. If he did, she would wipe some sauce off his cheek and chin, but if he chose not to she would hand him the napkin and point out where the spots were.

"You seemed to have really enjoyed that food. So much so, that you'd wear it." Eva giggled as she attempted to make a lighthearted joke. She then sat back down and finished up her rice and veggies before setting down her utensil. "since we are both finished, and it's so late, we can try shopping for things at a later date? Or we can beeline it to pick up the remaining items."

She wanted to give Moritz and option of continuing or not, as if she was allowed to pick, she would continue wanting to explore. If allowed, she would probably take Moritz all over the Bazaar without a second thought, spending all her money on things she never had much access in big markets like this. Once Moritz made his decision, Eva would pay for her meal and stand, waiting for him to follow suit. She'd then follow him out of the restaurant and onto their next destination.

Let's Go Shopping pt. 2 (Moritz x Evalynn)

Postby Moritz Craven on May 25th, 2022, 11:41 pm

Moritz did not overly think as he ate, his mind bubbling about like on a cloud while he grinned and ate his food at his normal speedy rate. Did clouds bubble? Float maybe? Perhaps better... At some point he did notice most of his food was gone and a good bit more of Evalynn's was left, but was not overly concerned by that. Perhaps she was a slow eater, or just savored her food more. Or perhaps he was a bit odd in how fast he eat his own food... Always a possibility and a question of perspective.

He was not overly paying much attention other than gazing into her eyes now and then until she picked up a cloth and made a gesture she wanted Moritz to come closer. Did she want to say something? Or hand hims something? She could just do it over the table, he could reach with his long arms as before when he placed his atop hers... But no instead she had seen some small bit of sauce on his face and had moved to wipe it off. He could not really recall a time of someone doing so before, or perhaps someone had but he had been so young then and it had been so long ago that he did not recall.

A smile on his face he answered without really thinking.

"Well normally I'm more for carrots when I want to wear food, some of the larger ones work as a passable shoe. Though it does leave your skin a bit orange, so best to be careful. Other than that melons are good due to their size, but of course you have to be careful to clean it well or it will attract bugs. Maintenance is very important when wearing food."

At the mention of time Moritz nodded, considering her words and realizing he probably should get back. What time was it? The sun was there... So it was around... That bell? How long had they been there? Wait was the sun rising or setting? Which side was north, and which south?

The idea of coming back again for another trip also sounded good, and a good bit of time having passed it did seem a good idea to finish another time.

"Why do tomorrow what you can do today?"

Truthfully though he was tired from the events of today, both physical and mental, and would like a bit of a nap once he got home, or at least a short lie down to think things over.

He would give Evalynn the chance to finish eating before standing up and taking her hand, heading back to the Outpost entrance with her and through the entrance into Syka again. As before the exit of the place worked as the reverse of the entrance.

Opening the door and stepping inside once no one else was using the structure of the Dovecote. Then closing the door and waiting for a few moments inside, before slowly reopening the door and heading back out into what would now be Syka.
