[Flashback] Morals of the sinful compass

A surreal cavern city inhabited by Symenestra where stones glow and streets are reams of silk. Cocoon like structures hang between stalactites and cascade over limestone flows in organic and eerie arabesques. Without a Symenestra willing to escort you, entrance is impossible.

The food was soft enough for him to eat without using his poison, he did not have to inject it in everything just to make food softer. Something most people did not know of his race. "Thank you..."

He spent the time just walking with her and not saying much, he knew she had been though a lot so he would give her time. He just looked at the large tower, his red eyes scanning it with a look of more being on guard then anything. He knew they were safe with the simple fact that no one stayed near the gate.

He warped his arms around her as she hugged him, a bit unsure how to answer her request. He knew he was in danger to the point even his own Web would not keep him safe. "I am not sure....I am worried of heading back but would your family really handle me?" He asked as he looked at her, fear in his eyes of the idea of leaving behind his life for her.

She had a family member his age yet he knew humans would look down on him yet he did think about it. "We have a magecrafter yet I wanted to learn from him...how would I get income to help you....how would..." He said softly letting the words die in the wind.

"I am not sure what I should do..."

Jenelle had discovered she was barren through one of the most brutal means possible. As she looked at her spidery savior, she realized he was a chance to have something almost her own.

Symenestran hands and eyes turned her nerves to glass, but by the gods, she would fight her fears for a better purpose. Wretched memories of vein marbled skin and the delicate scratch of their steps could be overcome and replaced with dearer associations.

"If my family will not take you, I will," she spoke it with the severity of a vow.
"I am eighteen and able-bodied with a parcel of land my grandfather gave me. And if you want a magecrafter, I will get you one, little Vor. Syliras is a place where a great many things can be found."
She released him, clasping her hands in her lap. Her nails were broken and dirty and her arms showed bite marks in the unfiltered light. The girl had survived this much, what was one more adventure?
"If training and money is all that keeps you here..." She shook her head dismissing the validity of these protests, "Then you have no reason to stay."
Jenelle stood and extended her hand towards Voreasos.
"I do not know you well, but I know you are brave, selfless and your heart is good. And that is all I need to know."
She smiled.
"Come with me, Voreasos. Let us both begin something new."

His fingers interlaced with her's as he lifted his other hand touching along the stone gate. They were a danger however they were still forged by the gods themselves and travel was simple if not a tad bit risky. He had a clear name in his head as he held on to her tighter as he took a step forward before the area around his body faded into nothing.

"Lord Viratas I do hope you are watching over me...." He said under his breath as he thought of Syliras. His eyes were kept open at first before shutting as the tower's gem glowed softly before the gate opened for them.

It was like dropping in icy water yet only touching along its surface, the air around him felt rushed before he found himself with her in a new area, the trees were far larger and older yet they were free from his race. "We are close to Syliras....I do hope this all works out...How long has it been since you saw your family?" He asked as he let go of her hand, his stomach felt a bit upset yet he knew it would pass in time.

He looked at her, a bit fearful of what was to take place now however he knew he would help her in whatever way he could. "Ever thought of kids?" He asked after a bit as he found it kinda funny that he would be almost a child to her now one way or another...

How lucky they were to survive the gates in such weak states would escape the pair's understanding. Something had kept watch over them as they passed through the starry ways and were jettisoned across the face of Mizahar. When Jenelle staggered from the mouth of the gate, she knew she never wanted to use one again. It was as if her nerves were unsure where they had to re-attach, choosing to burn and numb in a fit of confusion.

Jenelle's stumbling ended in her sitting heavily on a patch of grass. She stared at the gate, the sky and her fingertips dug into the earth. She knew this air, this color, this grass.

"Syliras," she announced warmly, "It has been a year since I saw it."

Vor's question about children made her turn her face from the sky. She smiled, overwhelmed by this rebirth.
"Before today, I did not even think of a future."
She reached out and squeezed Vor's wrist.
"Now I have one, and I would love a son in it."

When she released his wrist to stand, a gnosis mark remained under where her fingertips touched. Her touch had no power of bestowal, it only marked completion of a lesson.

On the pulse point of Voreasos's wrist a flat gem was seamlessly embedded in his skin. It was darker than a ruby and ruddier than a garnet, flushing a deeper crimson with the beat of his pulse.

Blood had been captured today from being spilt without purpose, a new heritage was made and a new connection created under the name of Viratas.

Tears would form in his eyes if he let them at the second when she told him that he could still hold a family. His face soften just a bit as she touched his arm.

He almost did not see the mark along his flesh at first. If she touched him when she was eating the food he would just have thought it was some type of rash yet he did not what to think. He knew what it was after a few long seconds yet he just turned his eyes back on her.

"It is a mark of Viratas...it seems He was with us but let us go and find your home. We....both need to rest after this long lesson. We can work out small details once your family knows you are really alive and not just food."

He said as he moved back to her side. It was not a matter of him not caring he just got blessed it was just a matter of his mind and body could not handle anymore until later. He knew Viratas would always watch over him and he knew that he did good even if his race would outcast him now.

He would take on the rest of the world if he had to in order to keep his new family safe. Yet for now he knew he did not. Soon they would have to deal with another type of force and that would be her human family once they learn she was caring for a race that ate them.

His fingers warped around her's once more and that alone told him that they both would be safe. No matter what they would endue the storm's to come both now and in years from now.

His appearance had little of what one would expect, no smoke or light, only the firm footsteps of a hale man. What direction he came from was indiscernible, like he had simply manifested.
He wore a traveler's clothes in shades of brown, with a burgundy hooded surcoat, the cowl drawn up to shade his face. Around his wrists were bronze chains, worn like gauntlets.

Jenelle immediately put her arm around Voreasos's shoulders and protectively drew him back from the stranger. In response, the man lifted his hand in a gesture of peace and withdrew his hood.

His face was pale, chipped at by small scars, but he had a strong jaw and brooding eyes. Long crimson hair and claret irises betrayed his otherworldliness.

When he spoke, his voice was deep and rumbled in his chest.

"I am here to bestow not to take away."
When Viratas extended his hand, Voreasos was compelled to move forward and give him his wrist. The god looked at the precursor gem and gave a firm nod.

Like a drop of blood, the gem moved upward, dividing into smaller drops both clear and crimson. The drops reformed around Voreasos's upper arm, making a weightless glass like chain. It lay close to his skin, fitting perfectly. Three of the links were swirling with gem-red colors the rest were frosted and clear.

Jenelle watched in awe, her fingertips hovering over her mouth.

"You have kept blood from being wasted on the stones," the god began, "And while you have broken ties with your first family, you have created another where there was no hope of one before. It is your commission to ensure more blood is not spilt over this day in empty vengeance."

The god released Voreasos, and the Symenestra was suddenly dizzy, as if all his blood was charged and awakened.

"Go to your home," he said to Janelle, "Do not stop for any and do not linger. When you arrive, make a sacrifice to me to bless your bond."

Nodding dumbly, Jenelle took Voreasos's hand. Her feet moved with new strength, hurried away by the will of Viratas. When they looked over their shoulders the god was still there, but when they blinked, his stern shape was gone.

[Flashback] Morals of the sinful compass

Postby Voreasos Alisier on February 22nd, 2011, 3:06 am

The young child was taken back as he saw Viratas. He had thought he seen him around and even had hoped so much that he was looking out for them but to see him face to face was something else. He was speechless to say the least as his eyes looked down at the mark granted by his god.

He was not mad like Vore thought but was happy that he did what he did. He did break his ties with his family and even his race but he did make another it would seem. Vore did not say anything other the nod a few times as he felt wave after wave of dizyness take over his body as he felt his blood turn inside his very body with what felt like a mix of a fire and ice mixing inside his veins yet even that feeling soon passed into nothingness.

His eyes looking down along the mark on his upper arm as he ran with Jenelle letting her lead him to her home. He was not sure on the blood that was called for but he did have a slight idea of just cutting his own hand and Jenelle’s rubbing the blood along the front door of her home as he would say a few words from the holy text.

The job Viratas wanted would have been hard however maybe that was the point. If it was something easy then Vore would not learn anything but he was sure with Jenelle’s help it could be done. Just had to take things one step at a time he thought as his legs kept moving onward.

He felt lighter then before not only his body but also his mind. His eyes looking back and forth from the trail to his new mark along his pale body. The ruby red chains stood out so much yet he enjoyed the sight of them. He knew what he could do with the new found powers somehow in the depths of his mind but he did not question how he knew that.

He was just happy that he had found a new family so to speak and saved a life at such a young age. Everything else he would worry about later such as his family and his race or even how her own family would react to him. Yet all of that felt so little when he looked back at Jenelle as he held her hand. Maybe this was for the best in the end of things.
