Adventures in Babysitting

Day 15 of Spring 511 AV, just after midday

Upon leaving the office of Kaden Avin, Valintar of Wind Reach, Elsmere set his sights on finding the person that would serve as his new boss. He was apparently going to work for Duvin Kakiv in the nursery. Kids. The more Elsmere thought as he walked, the more he was not sure if he liked it. Not the job, but kids.

All he could remember about kids was from just a few hours ago, which was not much after all. Waking in a cold field and nearly freezing his manhood right off. It was definitely something one did not want to dwell on for long. It made the old man shudder. However, thinking more on the subject, Elsmere realized that he actually like children. He was not sure why, but he knew he liked them.

Elsmere followed the directions that Kaden had provided. The walked warmed his body. Passing a building, he paused at his reflection. “Wow I look terrible.” His hair still looked a tad disheveled and his robe a bit wrinkled. Smoothing it out yet again, his hand slipped into one of his pockets. Removing it, a small cord of leather laid limp through his fingers. Moving his hands quickly, he gathered his silvery locks and pulled it tight behind his head. Taking the cord, he hastily tied it around the hair. “Much better,” he said with a smile. The reflection agreed.

Reaching his destination, he scanned the area for signs of live.
“Hello and greetings, I am looking for one Duvin Kakiv. Kaden Avin sent me to work in the nursery.”

Adventures in Babysitting

The Yasiry’s reading instructor, Khara, just happened to be walking by the common hall when Elsmere decided to announce his presence. She couldn’t help but giggle at the redundancy of ‘hello and greetings’; she already liked the guy. Walking up to him from behind, she tapped him on the shoulder. “Hi there. You must be new. I’m Khara.” She smiled before placing her hands on her slim hips. “If you’re looking for Duvin you can find him through that warren there, up the stairs. Good luck old man. And you might want to clean yourself up a bit, you look a tad disheveled dear.” She waved goodbye before going to prepare for her next class.

When Elsmere entered Duvin’s office, the large, bald Inarta, looked up from his desk littered with paperwork. “Yes? How may I help you old man?” Duvin sized the figure before him, down to the fly aways in his crudely tied up hair, to the many wrinkles in his shabby cloak. His dark blue eyes could have been mistaken for an Inarta’s but the white locks and height suggested otherwise. He also didn’t recognize the man, which felt odd for Duvin, who remembered everyone that passed through the Yasiry. It was odd to see someone so old that he didn’t recognize. Though he did not approve of his physical appearance, Duvin smiled, amused by the old man’s enthusiasm. He wouldn’t tell Elsmere, but he had heard him yelling out in the hall, he just didn’t feel like walking out to see who was trying to hunt him down. “Ah yes, so you’re the outsider with the memory issues. Kaden did send me a runner Dek with that information earlier today. And thankfully for you, I’ve just finished preparing your job assignment. Because you don’t have any experience, I thought it be best to put you with the general cleaning crew. Hopefully the experience will help you jog your memory. The crew, at this time, should be in the children’s reading and writing lecture room. Which would be Khara’s room, the chiet woman you had met earlier.” Duvin continued to give Elsmere very straightforward directions to the room, and the general lay out of the Yasiry. Normally the Youthmaster would be more welcoming and generally pleasant but he was dealing with a Dek, an outsider no less; a lifetime of indoctrination told him that his energy would just be wasted on his kind. “Good luck old man. After your first shift, I suggest you make a quick trip to the Tisuma baths and get yourself cleaned up.” Duvin offered one last smile, before turning back to his paper work. It was a subtle, yet condescending dismissal.

OOC :
You can make up the crew yourself or I can make it up for you, either way it will be all Dek. And I hope your prepared for a ton of caste prejudice :D Also I've developed Khara for the Yasiry but she has yet to be published. If you want to see her info feel free to shoot me a PM requesting it.
