A surreal cavern city inhabited by Symenestra where stones glow and streets are reams of silk. Cocoon like structures hang between stalactites and cascade over limestone flows in organic and eerie arabesques. Without a Symenestra willing to escort you, entrance is impossible.

The Place of Purging

The Place of Purging's most numerous guests are surrogates followed by Symenestran patients. Here is where births take place and breeder health is monitored every ten days. Due to the volatility of some surrogates, the staff includes guards in addition to practitioners of medicine and herbalists. Healers are extremely rare as it is not in the nature of a Symenestra to worship Rak'keli, which often requires a gentler disposition.

In the surrogate wing, rooms can be locked from the outside as are the chests that contain medical instruments and herbs. All a surrogate is allowed to use freely are the bed, wash-basin and chamber pot. The Surrogate wing is eerily quiet, but the cries that do travel are chilling.

Symenestran patients are treated in their own wing, which has a warmer atmosphere and fewer locks. Many even find the Place of Purging comforting.

The Purging is a collection of traditional stalactite dwellings connected by Symenestra made hallways. It is one of the largest suspended structures in the city. Apart from patient rooms, it has a waiting area for family, a private room for staff, and a large pantry for medicinal herbs.

The head medic is Svorador Hellebore, a stern Symenestra around fifty years with long black hair greying at the temples. He treats the surrogates like prized cattle, and he feels his Symenestran patients are privileged to just be in his company. His brilliance is inarguable, but his bedside manner is cool and acidic. He is often accompanied by his son, Duvalyon, who has been learning the profession.

About Employment :
The Purging staff is small, comprised of 4-5 medics who rotate schedules so 2-3 medics are always present no matter the time of day. At any given time there are roughly 10 surrogates being treated. Other cases come from the small (900) population of Kalinor. Current medics include Svorador (NPC), Alassa (NPC), and Duvalyon (PC). There are 2 herbalists, 4 guards and various support positions. To join the staff please contact Poison.
