'What for? For who? Why? Is it right?'

He watched the coin hover over in between him and the strange man. Thoughts in his mind scared him. How could he be questioning himself? He'd never done so before. When he saw the coin floating however, his training snapped to the forefront. This man is using magic! In full view of the public! The training, the laws that had been hammered into him every day since birth now took over, his self conscious thoughts taking a back seat.

He shook his head and looked hard at the man, growling through gritted teeth, so it remained between him and the man. "You can speak your piece, no matter how much of a farce it, to the people, but I strongly suggest you cease the use of magic less you want silenced permanently. And give me my coin."

His hand shot out to grab the floating coin.

[Kova's Wishing Well] Crying Wolf [Closed]

Postby Jokor on May 16th, 2011, 1:14 am

Suddenly a fully armored syliran knight was shepherding the crowd away trying to create an opening of some sort, maybe to escort the troublemaker to the tank or something like that. Jokor was a bit to preocupied with the complete sense of wrongness that almost radiated from the man then to really give to much thought towards what the knight was trying to accomplish. Taking only a few small steps back he gave the knight a wary look trying to figure out what the hell was causing that feeling.

When his normal senses didn't give him any plausible explination Jokor took a firm grasp on his djed and channeled it into his eyes, the aura's around him sprining into his vision and he took a good look at the knight that appeared seemingly out of nowhere. Nobody should be that stealthy with heavy clanking armor on.

[Kova's Wishing Well] Crying Wolf [Closed]

Postby Elmoch on May 16th, 2011, 1:33 am

Elmoch had to take a step back, for this Syliran knight was trying to open up some empty space in the area. He couldn't really understand what the knight intended to do, but he really didn't find anything unusual about this man or his behavior either. He just tried to get as close as possible to get a good view of the events that seemed to be about to occur. He also took a quick glance around to see who was around him. "Hah, are they going to arrest him? That will just make things worse!" he said aloud, with an obvious smile on his face in anticipation. He'd step further back if the man insisted on attempting to empty a larger area, but always trying to stay as close as possible to view what course of action the knights were to take.

Robern took another step or two away from Jaelyn, and closer to the liar before stopped. His head lowered as his shoulders fell. The tip of his sword dropped until it skimmed the earth under his feet. Even the hothead couldn't ignore Jaelyn's logical words. Slowly, he turned and looked back at Jaelyn, his sword was returned to its resting place as he moved back towards her. "Speak up for me please. You are better with words than I am. I don't wish to say something I'll regret. Please, speak to the man, for the knighthood if not for me."

Dimitri found his coin in his grasp, it made no motion to move away from him as he reached for it. "So you are a knight then, perhaps not in rank, yet, but in spirit. I could save you from your troubles, your mistakes. You are no more than a slave for a cult seizing control over lives of the people. I have broken no reasonable laws this day, so if you'll not see the logic in my voice, then I suggest you leave this place. You are no longer welcome here." Dimitri didn't even have time to speak before he heard a terrifying sound, people around him were whispering words of approval. They were actually listening to this man, and the several dozen citizens could easily tear apart the squire. He felt very endangered at that moment as if he was being dangled like a piece of meat over several starving dogs.

Auristics didn't provide much information for the Auristic Novice. He saw auras alright, but the mass of the crowd was just one intense blur of warmer colors, wavering and jagged, whatever it meant. The man, the one before him, Jokor saw something that wasn't right. His aura stood out, a calmer aura, larger because of the man's size, an Akalak most likely, but there was a taint in that aura, a spot of darkness that threw the entire aura out of sync and seemed to make the man almost appear unbalanced. Something was on that man causing the shift in color. It didn't take long for Jokor's head to become infected with a headache, his use of auristics were still too limited to use to this extent for long, not with this much focus thrown into it.

Elmoch got a glare from the large armored Akalak that was shepherding the crowd around. He grinned from behind that steel helmet, and Elmoch felt the pain before he even saw it. The gauntlet clad fist struck out, striking the man without offering a moment to respond. Elmoch stumbled backwards as the crowd was riddled with gasps and whisperings, he was caught by another man and set back up, but his head was already reeling, dizzy and painful. And everyone seemed to see or hear the attack, the large knight attacking the citizen without reason. It seemed that, perhaps, the knight, was offended by what the speaker was saying, and was on edge. His violent actions only fueled the preacher's effect on the crowd.

It was far too strange to be a coincidence.
Bad News Everybody. School is picking up, Exams are beginning to happen, homework is growing time consuming, I may soon be evicted from my apartment, I'm dealing with severe and physical fights among several of my best friends, and I can't seem to find a time to get much needed sleep. I'm terribly sorry, but don't expect to see much of me for a long while.

[Kova's Wishing Well] Crying Wolf [Closed]

Postby Jaelyn Baroth on May 24th, 2011, 2:23 pm

Jaelyn took a deep breath at Robern's request, she certainly did not have the confidence in her ability to speak that he did, and then gave a small nod, "I will try my best Robern, for all of us."

Letting out the breath Jaelyn pushed forward through the crowd, listening to the words the man spoke to Dimitri, and paused for a moment at the apparent attack by the man dressed in armor on someone. Something was wrong here, things had to be different than they seemed. The thought of this all being a deception lit a righteous fire inside her, and urged her forward.

"My good people!" Jaelyn called out loudly as she finished pushing her way to the edge of the crowd, lifting her arms up above her head to try and help draw more attention to herself, "I am Jaelyn Baroth, Squire under Ser Raynard Darcy and daughter of Ser Atriso Baroth, and I can no longer keep my silence against this man's inflammatory words!" she gestured with her left hand to the robed man who stood next to Dimitri, "He says that you are mistreated, that you are nothing but slaves to the Knighthood! The truth is the exact opposite!"

Shifting her left hand to point at the beaten and bloody form of Dimitri she continued, a faint tremor in her voice at the sight of her fellow squire, "This young man before you is Dimitri Chenkov, Squire under Ser Adamal Brinkaas, and a friend of mine! Like me, Dimitri joined the Knighthood of his own will from a young age, and has dedicated years away from his family and the comforts of life to dedicate his life to training! He did this, not so that he might lord power over others, but so that he may protect and assure the freedom of each and every one of you here!"

She swept her hand over, pointing towards the nearby Stone Gardens, "Not much more than a stone's throw away from here sits the Stone Gardens, a memorial dedicated to the countless Knights who have given their life for Syliras over the years! Yes, you are all asked to give of your time and labor to help with maintaining the city, but the Knights give their LIVES for all of you! There is no Master who would give their life to protect their slave, and so how can you be slaves under the Knights!?"

Taking a deep breath she turned her hard gray eyes toward the robed man, her eyes flashing with the righteous blaze that felt like it filled her body at this point, "I do not know what this man seeks, but it is not your safety and freedom! Think for yourselves, do not rest upon his lies, and I know all of you will realize just how foolish his words truly are!"

[Kova's Wishing Well] Crying Wolf [Closed]

"Jaelyn. Do not waste your breath."

Dimitri's demeanor had transformed from a broken down man. He stood up tall, shoulders back, chin up. He now held himself like a Knight should. The timidness, the uncertainty gone, now that she had spoken her piece. This man was a menace. Dimitri would not harm the man, but he, couldn't not do anything either. Knights didn't just stand around and let things happen. He strode over to the well and once more he tossed in the coin, but this time he didn't make the wish to stop the violence from his mother, but rather to help him find away to put an end to this escalating situation. But the spirit never answered him before, but he really hoped it would now.

He turned from the well back to the man, to find some way to confront him. He then saw an Akalak in knight's armor shepherding the people back. But the Akalak appeared to be getting a bit rough with the citizens. Dimitri strode over and put a hand on the Akalak's tall shoulder, "Stop brother, leave them be. They've done nothing wrong. Merely listening to a false shepherd. We are the true light of Syliras, act like it." When Dimitri saw the man punch another man, he put himself between the Knight and the crowd of people. "Stop. Now. We are here to protect these people, not harm them."

[Kova's Wishing Well] Crying Wolf [Closed]

Postby Jokor on July 5th, 2011, 11:55 pm

Jokor winched in pain from the massive overload of his sixth sense and grabbed his forehead with his hand to try to ease the oncoming headache. But even then he had seen the spot of darkness in the man's aura and couldn't help but wonder what the heck was causing it. He looked towards the speaker in the middle of the crowd and was about to push away his headache and just try to take a look at his aura to see if there where any traces of magic in it when the akalak knight suddenly struck out and hit the man standing besides him square in the jaw. He quickly backed off, not wanting to be on the receiving end of a fist clad in iron. Just watching it was already painful enough for him! He was just about to slip into the crowds and get the hell away from this place before hell would break lose and there would be people thrown in the tank, he didn't want to spend a cooped up in a cell with a bunch of other people.

As soon as he had turned himself around however the fairly familiar voice of Jaelyn rung out over the small clearing, giving the preacher a taste of his own medicine. A small grin came on his face as he decided to stay here. Though when she began to talk about how the knights gave their lives for the people of syliras he couldn't help but scoff at the very idea.
“Some kind of protector that kicks his own charges down. Even people from sunberth don't sink that low and they call us scum. Damn vagiks.” He said, loud enough for dimitri and the knight to hear it.
