[Sanctury] Checking the herds (Ghedan)

Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Kavala met Ghedan as planned, but she wasn't alone. Unlike the striders he was probably used too, the slight Konti stood between two enormous young stallions who touched noses and only nipped at each other roughly in mock disapproval. Both wore yvas' and stamped impatiently wanting to run. The blond stallion, closest to Ghedan turned and looked at him as Kavala whispered to him. It almost seemed like she was telling him to mind his manners and treat Ghedan with respect. The darkly dappled grey stallion, furthest from Kavala, also gave Ghedan a searching look as if casting judgement. Both were built for war though their long legs and curved sides looked fast as well. Nothing was as fast as a Strider on the Sea of Grass though. The grey had a short braided mane while the blond palomino had so much hair there was no containing it. Braided, sure, but it escaped fluttering in the wind as he waited for his new rider.

"Gideon.. this is Silk"
Kavala said, gesturing to the Palomino. "He'll be your mount. He's just three so go easy on him. This other fellow is Ghost. We are just getting them used to each other and to moving mares without harassing them for breeding. Silk's got about a season worth of riding under his belt. Ghost is just learning. It's his first season carrying a rider. He grew slow so I didn't want to start him too soon." Kavala said, thoughtfully.

She moved around to the grey's side and leaped, clambering up onto his tall back. Kavala was only about six inches over five feet, so it was a feet for her to get on the giant's back. But once there she settled easily and waited for Ghedan to join her. Once he did, she'd lead them both out the gate and around towards the wildlands where most of her mares were out feeding.

  • Kavala is a Konti but was raised in the Drykas culture so her accent is entirely Pavi though she can speak Common, Pavi, and Tukant well. She's only conversational in Kontinese.

[Sanctury] Checking the herds (Gideon)

OOCSO sorry this took me so long!
Ghedan checked on Glint quickly and tucked the blankets tightly around him before heading out to join Kavala. As he approached he saw her with two stallions. They were huge, and he could tell he would have a bit of trouble getting used to riding something so different. The only horse he'd ridden since he was 13 was Qwinn. The horses eyed him carefully as he approached. He stepped up to the palomino. Kavala mentioned that both horses were new to riding, an additional challenge. In any case it would show how much about riding he actually did or didn't know.

He touched Silk's nose lightly and ran his hand down his head. Then he walked around and climbed up into the saddle. The palomino pranced to the left a bit, but Ghedan reined him in and directed him toward the gate, then he followed Kavala out into the Sea of Grass. It was certainly strange riding on the larger horse, mostly because he wasn't used to being so high of the ground. He hoped he'd get a chance to ride Qwinn while working, but was looking forward to the chance of riding a variety of horses. Silk tried to turn to the left or right once in a while due to some distraction or other, but for the most part he followed Ghost and Ghedan's direction obediently.

"So where exactly are we headed?" Ghedan inquired.
