Season of Summer, Day 46 (Afternoon), 511 AV

While Syna's brief stand at the top of the sky had started the festivities of the Summer Solstice it was her slow decent downwards that signaled the start of what most would consider the true party. Some even went so far as to not emerge into the summer heat until this time, but any who were noticed doing so were the subject of less than pleasant looks and whispered conversations featuring words such as "lazy" or "uncivilized".

At first it started slow, a faintly noticeable increase in the energy of the crowd as the summer heat began to wane, but as time moved on to the 16th bell the fun began in earnest. The crowd in the Main Gate courtyard cleared a large space as musicians started to play. The music was bright and energetic to encourage people to dance, and dancing was indeed happening. At first it was just women in the clearing, dressed in yellows and oranges in honor of Syna, but soon enough men started to join in the fun. Food and drink began to be brought out from the nearby Rearing Stallion, offered for a small fee of course, and with that the party in celebration of Syna was well and truly underway.
My posting and other AS work will be slow for the time being. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, and I'll try to get back up and running at full speed soon.

jokor was sitting at the side of the entire festival, just looking at the entire thing going on in front of him with a dull look of surprise on his face as he nibbled on a few snacks he had procured form the rearing stallion, trying to figure out what the heck was going on. The normally uptight people of syliras suddenly began to act like the teenagers and young adults that hounded the slag heap back at home in sunberth, without the drunken fighting and getting shitfaced enough that a zith would look like a good lay, though he didn't really know if that last part wasn't just going to happen a few hours down the line.

Throwing the garbadge of his snacks over his shoulder he just hopped back to his feet and walked back over to the snacking table, whatever was going on here he wasn't going to be able to find it out by himself so he better had to grab a local and interrogate them on it, after he got something else to eat he was starving.
oocanybody that wants to freak out jokor by pulling him into the festivities feel free to do so :) just be carefull he bites ;P

Runas' eyes glittered with the mischievous amusement of a chattering group of squirrels eyeing the lonely squirrel stuffing the most nuts into his cheeks. She knew she had chosen right to come to Syliras this Summer. It had been too long since she had come to a solstice party. The only problem would be the proximity of Syna's full slumber nearing. For that purpose, she had brought along her cloak to don as she hurried away for her transformation. After it, she would have no problem joining the festivities as one of Leth's own Ethaefal.

Her green eyes glowed as she eyed the crowd, looking for a suitable partner to dance around with. She'd probably choose the most uptight mortal around, but after a few glasses of Summer wine and a good couple of dances, the poor mortal should be as giddy as the rest of them.

She twirled almost lazily, her long, braided black hair streaked with yellow and orange paint fanning out behind her. Her dark skin was laced with sky-blue paint, although her usual red paint streaked the curves of where her neck met her shoulder. Those streaks were a necessity for her, a habit. Eypharian's liked to mark that erogenous zone as noticeably as possible, and while she wasn't particularly Eypharian, just trapped in the mortal seeming of one, she still obeyed that simplest of decorational etiquette.

It was as she neared the snack table that she eyed a particularly grouchy looking person. She'd put him to be human, but one could never be too sure these days. Revelry brought out the strangest of races.

As she neared this man, she slowed and caught her breath, then came walking along at his side, reaching forward to take his arm in hers. It wasn't one of her most intimate gestures, and even if it was, it was a necessity to keep him in her gaze in the crowd. She didn't even care if he was offended. Runas did as she wanted to whomever she wanted. Look what she'd done to that Lark boy, after all.

As she escorted him to the table, having decided that was where he was destined to go at that moment, she smiled brightly. It was one of those few smiles that sparked in her eyes and made them glitter even more.

"Why so gloomy?" She asked softly, speaking above the revelry. She had every intention of getting him drunk and making him dance with her. That intention flashed in her eyes and across her lips as a smile.
All the heavens cried when the angels fell.

No matter how good the person tried to sneak up on jokor whatever tricks he had they didn't stand up to senses honed to pick up people sneaking up on him from a young age, quickly taking a step away from the person and making some distance in between them and he quickly turned towards the offending person, a scowl on his face. Ignoring the few people that where looking at him with confusion as to why he was backing away from the rather beautiful egyptarian.

Almost immediately activating his auristic vision and focusing it on the woman, trying to figure out what the heck she thought she was trying to pull.
“I ain't gloomy ya six armed freak, just rather pissed why somebody tried to sneak up on me, which by the way you did a petching shoddy job with.” He tapped his foot impatiently and almost instinctively snuck his hand towards the handle of one of the daggers hidden underneath his cloak.

The anti-social behavior displayed at Runas' attempt to take his arm immediately brought a spark of wry amusement to her eyes. She was slightly inulsted, her pride stung, but she wouldn't let that overwhelm her. She tilted her head as they faced eachother and smiled almost invisibly.

It was his comment on her arms that brought a flash of anger to her. She had never heard such insilence before unless from the mouth of a Kelvic years before. She was not pleased that this man chose to be so rude on a day he should be as sunny as the people around him. She had to work not to bare her teeth in a grimace at the lovely greeting.

"Tsk, tsk... You are in such a terrible mood, and you are so very rude. Do you respond to everyone this way?" Laughter returned to her dark green eyes, sparking against the anger that had glimmered there so recently. She was not jostled by the moving crowd, managing to catch attention before still-sober people ran into her. "I just wanted to cheer you up. Won't you cheer up for me?"

Runas hadn't intended to do this today, the presence of a crowd being her main concern.

Hypnotism ought to convince him to be kinder to an Eypharian that only wanted to comfort whatever troubles were on his mind.

With this admittance, a sigh passed Runas' lips and her dark green eyes closed. She moved djed to them and opened them again, moving to catch his eyes with her own. She always sought the connection shared between gazes when they met, and even if she were not lacing her gaze with djed she would try to meet his eyes. It was only natural for her at this point.

Jokor sneered at the six armed freak when she began lecturing him.
“No I don't respond to everyone this way ya petching broad, just to people who are straining my patience with how annoying they are and are most likely thieves from how you where sneaking up on me a few moments ago. So no I won't cheer up for you and you can shove your fake concern so deep up your arse you can reuse it on somebody else!” Jokor didn't give a copper miza that there where a few people gathering around the arguing pair, a few shaking their heads in distaste while a few who had some more alcohol then the rest where sniggering at the sight that was displaying right before their very eyes.

When The woman closed her eyes jokor's auristic vision picked up something strange, but faintly familiar, gathering in her eyes jokor got suspicious what the petch was that broad planning? When she opened her eyes again looked him straight in the eyes. As soon as that happened, he felt a strange and out of place pang of guilt, the rage on his face subsiding for a look of confusion. Till it clicked in his mind, whatever she was doing with her eyes, she was messing with his mind!
Quickly breaking eye contact he snarled at the woman.
“Oye ya witch! Keep outa my head with yer freaky magic!”

Real anger flashed in Runas' mind, darkening what was already strained to be bright. This human was very, very good at bringing out the worst in her. Of all the people she had met, she'd never encountered someone as rude and as tactless as he, and that included how people had described her to be. He assumed she was a thief? What the petch was he doing in a crowd full of frivolous people then? He was sure to be preyed to someone with sticky fingers or whose blade moved quick when an unwary back was turned. For the first time in a very long time, Runas considered forcing a person to kill himself with her Hypnotism. Not an easy feat, but one she could manage if only she could isolate him and gain enough chimes.

"I am no thief," her voice was cool, forced into being aloof to hide the anger forming in her soul. "I am not faking anything, and I do not care for your accusations. If you are so suspicious, then leave. You have such a poisonous personality. It is not required on this beautiful day."

She smirked with true venom at the discomfort he showed when her hypnotism settled on him. She didn't know if the bond had been severed as it had with Seven on a beach, and she hoped it had not. How was she going to assuage her own anger if the one she now wanted to hurt was resistant to her weapons of choice?

Suddenly, she severed her djed and turned away, crossing her arms. She had smothered her emotions, reigned them in to where the only damage she could deal was to herself. Her dark green eyes became as alien to emotion as they had been before this day.

"You should just leave. A person like you does not suit this festival." She spat these words out to the man bitterly and coldly, her happiness outed as quickly as a wind could out the flame to a candle. His mood had ruined hers and now she felt no need to be here. She wondered if the Temple were open. She could go there and pray instead of stay here and celebrate.

The nearby crowd was indeed growing more agitated as the two argued, and with Jokor's last comment there were several loud gasps. People backed away quickly, leaving several yards of empty space around the two now, and from the nearby people both Jokor and Runas could hear murmurs about calling the Knights.

"What seems to be the problem here?" a calm, feminine voice interrupted the mounting argument between Jokor and Runas.

From the assembled crowd emerged a Konti woman wearing simple, high necked, dress of orange and subtle yellows. Her head was tilted slightly as she regarded the two, as if looking upon an interesting curiosity instead of a pair of people disrupting a major celebration. A keen eye might notice that despite her simple and casual appearance she had Suvai at her hip, and a pair of silver swords pinned to her collar.

"This is supposed to be a celebration," she developed a faint upward curve of her lips, the barest touch of a smile, and took several more steps towards the pair and held her arms out wide to indicate the area around them, "A time of happiness and enjoyment. Perhaps if you're not willing to to relax it would be better if you could find somewhere else to be?"

Jokor gritted his teeth at the witches words his anger freely boiling on the surface of his face, the only thing restraining him from pulling out his dagger and making a few extra holes in the six armed freak before him was the fact that the knights would probably kill him for that act. So he just pulled away his hand from the handle of his dagger and was about to let lose every single curse and foul word he knew on the witch in front of him when they where interrupted by a calm feminine voice.

Turning his head towards the speaker, a look of fury still clearly visible on his face. When he saw the silver swords pinned to her collar he couldn't help but gulp a bit in fear and quickly tried to reign in his fury. Then it suddenly hit him, for what could be the first time in his life he wasn't at fault, that freak was sneaking up on him and had been trying to use magic to turn his toughts around! He was completely in the right here!

“Well Sera,” He started, trying to sound as respectfully as he could, thanking kelwyn that he heard Jaelyn talk to other knights enough that he at least remembered the ways how to speak to them. “I was just making my way over to the snacks, enjoying the food when suddenly that woman tried to sneak up on me and when I turned around she was reaching out towards me with one of her arms, probably to try and rob me blind.” He glared towards the witch , distrust in his eyes.

“And when I confronted her about it she tried to use some kind of magic to twist my own thoughts to her liking! You try to enjoy whats going on when somebody is doing that to ya!” He really hoped that she would take his side. But then again if that woman tried to use that strange mindbending on the woman he was screwed.

[Main Gate Cortyard] Dancing Until Dusk (Open)

Postby Runas on July 15th, 2011, 11:36 pm

Runas had heard the murmurs, had seen the crowd sliding away, and she wondered at that. The man's words had probably caused their distress, and she knew the folly of using magic in this place. Is wasn't well-recieved here, and mages hid their craft and restrained it to dark rooms and silent nights.

The Konti woman now held her attention, though, not her own foolishness. She ignored whatever the man had said, finding it worthless to her now. She did not look at the Konti out of distrust or anger, for her anger was directed more at herself, but she looked at her out of interest and polite benevolence. She, unlike this uptight man, had no desire to destroy these festivities. She had intended to bring him into them from where he was sulking. Was that a crime?

"My apologies, Sera," She said softly after the man made his claim. Her eyes were still subdued, but now she was thinking of the time. She had no desire to transform, but that would be inevitable should Syna set. "My mistake was thinking I could pull this foul-mouthed man into the revelry where he wouldn't glower so. I will rejoin these festivities, if that is still all right. I do love the Summer solstice." She hoped the Konti Knight would believe her. She was speaking truthfully, in her softest voice.
