Postby Sable Baggywrinkle on October 8th, 2011, 4:12 am

Lia Sable

...a temporary title.

Physical Description
Race trademark blue eyes sparkle with a mischief rooted to her very soul, glances inquisitive and good natured. Sun bleached hair, a mass of curls that barely submit to a cloth bandanna tied in with the intention of pulling the locks out of her face. Sharp with delicate lines, the features of her face make her look older than she is, but one glance into those eyes and the estimated age range has to be widened in both directions. Tall and lanky, standing 6'1, her body lacks the fruits of hard labor and the long muscles leave her strong and streamlined.
Height: 6’1
Weight: 149 lbs
Age: 20-- 33 Fall, 492 AV

Character Concept
Sable was self interested. Everything in life was a game, and all games had both fun aspects and less fun aspects, and no games should be played if the enjoyable doesn't outweigh the tedious. Life had no meaning if it wasn't for pleasure. There was no duty if the end product didn't include a benefit for herself. This outlook on life conflicted harshly with the awkward position of suddenly being thrust into leadership. Even if it was only of one person. After the loss of the two senior, serious, members of the pod, the Pod's sense of direction evaporated like so many drops on the deck, leaving nothing but a whitish, bitter stain in its wake. Sable got around any sort of greater responsibility by taking the urgent sobriety out of any and every duty. This ideology works in a multitude of ways; her motivations are not to be confused with self absorption or selfishness.

Sibilance

One good thing came from that fateful storm. Sable found Sib one morning while searching a desolate stretch of shore. She's young, no more than a pup, and with a mentor like Sable, there's a good chance she won't ever grow up. The playful little mammal usually ignores those that she doesn't know, until there is a good enough reason to engage them. She can often be found playing with small shells, strings, small fish, or even Sable. That latter one usually involves Sable not knowing she's about to be provoked in some manner

Siller

Sable's first companion, a Tuna, met Sable through Sybil. Having such a large companion bypassed the need for the little kid to learn how to swim properly. Though old enough to naturally rejoin the food chain, Siller perished in the same event that took the two eldest members of the pod and their Tavans.

History

Rupelia of the Tempest Pod had two children while in her late twenties, Sybil and Sable. Years later, she’d become the Lia and the stress gradually wore on her, gradually wearing down relations between herself and her children. Sable never understood. She had more than enough to keep her little mind busy. Sybil, elder by six years, had no trouble keeping the precocious little Sable distracted and safe from her mother’s fiercely private—that is, only unleashed on the family circle—anger hidden.

Sybil got the girl hooked on the challenging complexities of sailing, and introduced her, via an ill-fated swim lesson, to her first Tavan, a tuna fish. A large tuna fish that made the girl’s own progress on the swimming front a bit stunted.

By her teens, the younger girl knew what was going on. Complete faith in her sister’s strength and ability to handle their mother blinded the girl to the rapidly devolving civility between the women even in public. When the strife erupted one day, Sable’s belated attempts to play mediator failed to do more than exasperate Sybil and infuriate Rupelia.

During this silently turbulent time, the public tension vanishing after Sybil informed the family of her intentions to leave, Sable met a young Svefra, Tungsten, while the Tempests docked at the Anchorage Flotilla. Sirroco, the charming man that had utterly captivated Sybil, helped the young Tungsten capitalize on Sable’s instant attraction. Their dissimilarities were extensive. Tungsten had a weak body, but a golden mind. His art was highly promising, even though he’d just started out as a tattoo artist. Sable had a quick mind, but it wasn’t refined in the way his was. Her body exuded negligent strength, and she was the first to laugh or prank. He was known for his exceptional ability to brood in the best of situations. But they worked together, Sable’s attempts to smooth things over within her family gradually started yielding results.

Sable had thought that Sybil would decide to stay. The two couples were inseparable, Rupelia even seemed happy. But Sable was just blind again. When presented with the option of staying or going, Sable wanted both, she pleaded for a Casinor of her own to facilitate traveling between the two pods. Rupelia coldly refused, and though the confused young woman wanted to believe there was more than just anger and disinterest on the part of her mother, she wasted no time in joining Sirroco and Sybil on their Palivar. Tungsten, of course, opted to join.

None of them had ever been so happy. The spirit of adventure and danger exhilarated all of them…except Tungsten. He took pleasure in his companion’s feelings, even if he did put up a tolerantly amused front. They knew that and minimized their teasing accordingly. He was so cute when he rolled his eyes as they swung from the mast into the water. Or pinned up sketches of his companions caught in humiliating circumstances. Sketches based, unfortunately, in fact.

And then they died. The storm had been nothing like anything they’d ever seen before. Sable’s prediction had been wrong. Instead of desperately searching for safety, they’d just battened down the hatches and turned in with a bottle of fine rum. Sirroco and Sable never found the bodies. They looked and looked with their sunken eyes, scoured the area with their fatigued and malnourished bodies. Nothing. Not a scrap surfaced for the two Baggywrinkles to mourn over. They traded in the Palivar for a pair of Casinors.

Sable Baggywrinkle

Plot Notes :
Lia: Sable (inherited from Sybil (deceased))
Members: Sirroco, Tungsten (deceased)

Pardisa: Dumbo Octopus

Laviku blessed Lia Sybil with a Pardisa, it was not for Sable to question his choice, but little less than a year later, she fully understood its implications. Gazing at Sirroco across the diamond crusted waters, they ventured forth alone, lost, misunderstood, a pod rarely encountered by others. They kept moving, though grief bound their arms and legs, as though they too had flappy ears with which to stir and toil for sustenance. Unconventional, at best, were their defenses against the harsh dangers of the sea. But at their fullest, when they had those rare moments, they mesmerized and glowed with a light nothing could quench.

Sybil Baggywrinkle (Lost at sea, summer 511 AV)
Eyes: Light Blue
Hair: Dark Brown
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 125 lbs

Confident and headstrong, Sybil laughed as hard as she argued. Her unruly curly dark hair seemed fitting for the woman who had a habit of acting first and asking permission later. Her task within the pod was to help with mending, and even making sails. Sybil met Sirroco when his pod came to the Tempests to mend some torn sails. The young man was attracted to the outgoing seamstress, and a romance bloomed. Sybil eventually brought Sirroco into her pod. Sirroco's presence bolstered her courage, and she began to defy the Lia more and more, citing that the woman was loosing her edge, and that she would eventually put the pod in danger. After much thought and consideration, Sybil chose to leave the pod and begin her own, where she could lead in a manner she believed was right. Her sister Sable and her mate Tungsten agreed to join the pod. Once Sybil finally received divine blessing from Laviku, the four former Tempests headed out into the sea as Baggywrinkles.

Tungsten Baggywrinkle (Lost at sea, summer 511 AV)
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Brown
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 152 lbs

Shaggy brown hair topped a brooding face, the somber features at odds with his open disposition. His scrawny body has the myriad of tattoos that come with belonging to three different pods. Skinny and weak, Tungsten succumbed to illness that often left him bereft of strength to physically perform. He resorted to earning the pod money by offering his services at a tattoo artist and minor Reimancer. Despite being rather low on the social ladder, his roll-with-the-punches attitude kept him spirited. He eventually moved on from his birth pod, having caught the eye of a younger Svefra from the Tempest pod. He would have been happy to stay with the small, shipbuilding pod, but his mate resolved to accompany her sister to her new pod.

Tavan: Otter: Glik, mated with children. 3’8, male, 60 lbs. Golden fur. Cunning.
