Kendall listened as Kaiielle spoke more of her mother. He was happy to see that she was not flipping out on him. Some tended to do that when their emotions were being called upon. The girl dealt with her trauma with grace though. Kendall was pleasantly surprised. "I'm very sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine the pain of losing a parent through death." Kendall had no right comparing his personal experience to Kaiielle's. The death of a parent and a parent simply not wanting anything to do with you were two very different things.
The blond smiled back at Kaiielle after she spoke again. She was moving on. Bringing forth and purging, at least in a sense. Having overwhelming emotion hurt and was hard to deal with but in someways, it was good. It made the person have to deal with them. They could not just hide them away. "That is wonderful." He was a bit hesitant to reach out to the girl. As a female it had been so easy. Girls seemed to all have the ability to just comfort each other. The whole stigma of not touching someone unless you knew them, lest you be making a sexual advance, did not seem to exist. Still, sometimes people just needed that moment of contact. To know that the person sitting there was really there and they really cared. He knew that contact from others always seemed to calm him.
Kendall placed a hand on Kaiielle's shoulder, keeping a close eye on her aura to make sure he was not making her uncomfortable. "Moving on is always hard but when you finally have the strength to do it, no one can stop you. At least in a way." Kendall chuckled at his own words. "Emotional fortitude is worth a lot more than people think."
"My friend's birthday is on the 7th of Winter." It was hard to talk to vaguely about Hadrian. He knew sooner or later he would slip out a "he" or a "his" and Kaiielle would know that his little love poem was written for a man. It was not that Kendall was ashamed of his love for Hadrian. In many ways, he seemed like a perfectly logical person to fall in love with. Although Kendall had changed, he was still himself and he would still like men, just has he had before. He just was not sure how others would take it. Most seemed to be excepting which came as a slight surprise to him. He knew sooner or later someone would try to condemn him for it. The world and it's views were far from perfect.
A blush colored Kendall's cheeks. "Thank you very much." If there was one thing that Kendall did like about himself, it was his skills with writing. He knew he was not an expert but he was thankful for his parents giving him the ability to be properly trained in the art he loved so well. "I studied writing, literature, and poetry in Zeltiva. They have a wonderful university. My mother helped to urge on my writing as well." Kendall was unsure if he would ever really fully dislike Marie. She had hurt him but he'd always love her.
"Maybe I can meet Ivanka someday, if you like. I have made you listen to my writing. It is only fair that I meet the creature you are so proud of." Kendall was a bit worried about saying this in case the girl had no intention of ever letting him near her hold. He really was interested in the animal companions of Frostfawn Hold and Kaiielle seemed nice enough.
