A city floating in the center of a lake, Ravok is a place of dark beauty, romance and culture. Behind it all though is the presence of Rhysol, God of Evil and Betrayal. The city is controlled by The Black Sun, a religious organization devoted to Rhysol. [Lore]

Run, Aello, Run! (Solo)

Aello crawled out from beneath the line of closely-packed sticks. When she was beside them, she eased herself up and onto her knees. Perhaps, if we lessen the amount of space in-between each set of sticks, we can lessen the amount of wind that trickles through them. Thus, increasing the shelter's ability to keep us warm, Aello thought. She glanced warily around the clearing, trying to see what she had at hand. Just her things, the kindling that remained. The fire, the forest filled with animals that surrounded her.

The girl shrugged. Maybe the kindling can help in some way, Aello thought, as she plucked the remnants of her pile off the ground, and brought them closer. She picked a few twigs away from the rest, and wove them through the spaces between her logs. Some of the twigs snapped, while others just barely managed to fill a slender space between two logs. They creaked, with the pressure they exerted in order to stay in the place Aello had assigned them.

Well that isn't going to do much of anything, Aello thought, as she picked up the branches she snapped, and lay them across the ground, close to her make-shift shelter. That isn't going to do much of anything at all. Aello sighed, there simply had to be something else she could do. She picked up the crunchy leaves, and placed them atop of the twigs she had just placed on the ground beside her structure. A strong wind blew them away, they rustled against the ground until Aello caught them, and put then back in place.

There has to be something that will keep this sucker from falling apart, Aello thought, as she looked around. Something that will keep everything in its proper place... what do they use on buildings back in the city? Other than wood.

Nails.

We don't have those.

Screws then.

We don't have those either you useless ninny!

Well, then we can always try to cement everything into place... although we have no cement, we can try mud. The ground is wet enough, where it should hold should we apply it properly.

Aello smiled. That was more like it. Instantly, she began to scoop up bits of earth that had settled around her knees. She pushed it towards her structure, allowing it to settle in the spaces between the logs closest to the ground. She watched the dark brown rise, gliding up the logs with ease. "And now for the next portion," Aello whispered, as she began to pick up some more mud and pack it into the next area. When she could see no empty spaces, Aello moved onto the next section, but noticed that some of the mud would slip through the emptiness, into the world beyond her side of the structure.

This just won't do. There isn't enough for the mud to cling to in order to keep it in one place...

Perhaps then, offering it something to cling to will be of use. We could always gather more twigs, and leaves to help pack the empty spaces, and then add mud to the top of that... it worked for the lowest portion of the structure, why shouldn't it work anywhere else?

Aello smiled, and eased herself onto her feet. She walked over to the line of trees, a strip of land hardly illuminated by her fire, and cast her gaze down at the ground. Each time she stepped forward, and cast her gaze from left to right she'd look for something to use on her structure. Each time she found a twig, slender stick, or leaf, she'd pluck it from the ground. When she got to a point where she could no longer hold everything in her hands, Aello scurried back to the clearing, and placed everything next to her wannabe shelter. She then got onto her knees, and started to thread the twigs and sticks she had gathered through the spaces in-between the logs. She then pat the leaves into place, and covered everything with mud.

Slowly, Aello managed to cover her side of the structure in mud, leaves, and bits of the trees. "It worked," she whispered with a small smile, as she crawled back into the shelter. This time, far less wind made its way inside, past her barrier, causing it to be far warmer than before.

This should do, Aello thought, as she lay her head down on her arms, as she curled them beneath her. And with the help of the fire... before it dies out, I should be able to get a good night's sleep before I resume running from that petching city. Aello smiled weakly. She knew there was no way to put the fire out safely. Not with a lack of water at her disposal. It would simply have to go out on its own. Given time. And whenever she had the chance, she'd have to refill her waterskin, lest she perish of thirst. Or go insane with the want of it.

With that thought in mind, Aello closed her eyes. "Goodnight cruel and dishonorable world," she whispered, before drifting off into a dreamless sleep.

OOCHope this wasn't too dull for you.

And in the darkness, simian eyes did watch,
and as she drifted to sleep,
she heard the faintest of laughter,
and Aello was not alone.
