T'was the story that was to be written (Avina)

Devoting himself to study, Faraluun pays a visit to the Medical Library and meets a curious konti.

Home of the Konti people, this ivory city is built of native konti stone half in and half out of the sea. Its borders touch the Silverwood, and stretch upwards towards Silver Lake, home of the infamous konti vision water. [Lore]

Head tilting slightly forward in agreement, he held himself balanced before the lass, his eyes steadily observing her features. Peaceful indeed. Since his arrival to the city he found he had trouble adapting to the inherent lack of danger the city possessed in comparison to the wilds or the less tame streets of other cities, and he found it hard to hold himself at ease at times. His life had always been one of tumult and to find that chaos removed was a mixed blessing. There was no thieves or hired swords here to contest his blade, no beasts of fang and claw to challenge his skill, and he feared he was growing soft with the lack of action so he trained in private when he could, keeping his body prepared at least if not improving with every new dawn.

"Could you tell me of this song? What does it speak to you?" He asked leaning ever so slightly forward, his attention fully snared with the comment.

"Oh. The Song, it's everything. It's the sound of the sea, the cry of a storm, the low grumble of the earth. It's life Faraluun."

She smiled at him. He was seemingly captivated. But then all outsiders gawped at the Konti - the daughters of Laviku.

"It tells me all sorts of things. Like when the weather is going to change. I can always sense storms long before they hit the Isles."

The Song and her divination - blessed be Avalis - were her heart and soul. She had had nightmares before, of waking up to a silent world. To a Mizahar, cold, grey and lifeless. The Valterrian had caused devastation, but people weren't so fragile. They adapted. They survived. There was a harmony to life that no cataclysm could tear asunder.

"That is quite the talent. Are all konti so blessed, or is it that you find yourself unique in your skill?" Faraluun inquired, pressing the konti for answers to the great sum of knowledge she hinted at.

Even with those things not pertaining to his field he found himself interested in, always in attempt to accrue knowledge of other races, beings, and trades if only to better himself and those of the world when he found himself blessed with the chance to spread such words to their ears.

"We are all blessed, Faraluun. Even you. But my gift is unique. We are Avalis' chosen, and she often gives us a personal gift."

She smiled at him again.

"I'm sure you have some talent or skill, and that is your gift. People don't always realise what they're good at."

The library was silent except for them. And they weren't even reading, only chatting. Luckily, there were no staff about to tell them off.

"Do you travel around a lot? One day, perhaps, I would like to see some of the world. I always wondered how the Song would sound there..."

Avalis? The divine name was foreign to him, but with it her meaning became all to clear, and tugging on his sleeve he exposed his own mark to her.

"You speak the truth, my blessing comes to form as the symbol of Lormar" His eyes lingered on the glowing golden mark for a moment before shifting back to the woman and smiling. He hadn't quite expected to another marked, and though they bore different divine attention it was still yet comforting. Perhaps it made him more receiving of her next question, one he'd not answered too well in the past.

"I have see many things with the tricks of Alvadas, Splendor of Riverfall, and the staunch protectors of Syliras among those sights"

T'was the story that was to be written (Avina)

Avina was slightly surprised when he revealed the gnosis mark on his arm. The mark of the blessed. She batted her eyelids slowly.

"Then we are kindred spirits," she said, softening. "Alvadas sounds truly intriguing... I would like to go there sometime. I think that the Song would not be so good in Syliras though. It's a capital, full of people, full of business. I think it would be too much for me."

She looked around at the books. Many were produced elsewhere. Some from the University in Zeltiva, others from the various Cities with academic populations. There were healers among every society though. She had heard of healing institutions as far as the Sea of Grass.

"I swim round the coves sometimes, just to leave Mura for a moment. That's odd, isn't it? Perhaps my time will come to leave eventually. Perhaps I will receive my Call. There is so much to discover out there. Knowledge, lost to the Valterrian."

"Alvadas I found took a required taste for the chaotic, but it was an insightful experience to say the least" Faraluun said, slightly shifting his weight from one foot to the other. The past was beyond him, yet it directed heavily on his future, a fact instinctual to his very being. Even with years passing between unremarkable events, effects could still ripple from the original occurrence, bending all things in their beautiful way. A truly beautiful source of chaos.

Keeping eye contact as he was with the woman he noticed the subtle scales adorning portions of her skin, a thing he found common to most of her kind and most intriguing. It brought him to wonder if they inherited more things of an aquatic nature than just fish scales adorning their skin but that was a question for another time, and far too beneath the learned one before him. Her questioning nature brought a wry smile to his face as he compared his own goals to hers. Kindred spirits indeed.

"Indeed, it is why I read, and learn all I can as lady eyris bids me. What sort of call do you speak of if I may ask miss?"

So he wants to know too... about the world.

"Oh, the Call can be anything. It comes to a Konti through Avalis - to help one of her favoured. It may never come, or it may come tomorrow. I shouldn't sit around waiting for it."

She caught him looking at her, and turned away awkwardly. She had so wanted to stay cool, but she did not speak to men often. She couldn't help but feel a little... confused.

"Well perhaps we will cross paths in the future," she finally said, reclaiming her smile. "In Lisnar, hunting artefacts, or maybe in Ekytol, searching the sands for lost knowledge." She let out a small laugh, shaking her head, "we can dream, can't we?"

Repeating her words over, and over again in his head he tried his hand at committing them to memory. Of Avalis, his knowledge was lacking, but found it not required in determining the overall concept to which her words seemed to speak of. Her god/dess, whatever it may be must be quite sociable to call on his/her followers so often for there to be a name for the occurrence. He was hardly the one for speculation, but her words did bring questions he'd have to remember to ask another later so to not waste too much time on any one thing.

Dismissing the trail of thoughts with the blink of an eye, he settled into a less scrutinizing stare, and listened with interest to what she had to say.

"While sleep hardly ever takes me anymore, I can appreciate a fantasy, but I assure you, such aspirations are not so far beyond your grasp"

OOCJust something to think about: Avina is in Zeltiva as of 50th of Winter, since she travelled with the Konti entourage. Perhaps Faraluun could come to if he wants to leave Mura? He'd have to post a Zeltiva entrance sharpish though, since season change is upon us. Perhaps you could ask Cachet if it's ok to travel with the other Konti?

"Hmmm," she mused, a finger tapping against her mouth, "perhaps that's true."

She wondered if there was meaning beneath those simple words. Artefacts, knowledge. All of it was out there, that was for sure. Her thoughts turned to leaving Mura again. The idea had played on her mind for too long, yet the Song, the gentle sway of the grass, the lapping of the waves, it kept her rooted, solid. They were an anchor to her. Things made sense here.

But in her heart, she knew she just needed a push. If there were reason for her to leave... well, she would go. But until then, she knew she would not simply hop on a boat and leave the isle. The motivations were lacking. And yet the gentle tug of adventure was sweet.

"I wait for my aspirations to become reality. I know I should drive myself onwards, attempt to meet them with own tenacity, but I won't. I'll sit back and wait. That's just what I'm accustomed to."
