30 Spring 511

Bones walked up to the intimidating visage of the coliseum... He let out a sigh, wondering what the master of the place would have him doing... He had done a lot of things, so it was hard to tell... Regardless, he knew he would be fighting, and putting on a show for the paying spectators...

Soon he would be on the red sand, which smelled strongly of blood and death as always...

Moving in, down a passage which gladiators took, he ran into Shale. There he happily told him of the fight for today, one in which Bones would be fighting in animal form, one in which he rarely used here. Usually he fought in dhani form, so it was different, but he had fought a good bit before the coliseum in his snake form...

Going down to were the fighters stored there gear, he stowed it all away, along with his clothes. Then totally in the buff, he started his change, going into his snake form, a huge mammoth of a snake, over forty feet long, and with a thick constrictor body. Not like the other Dhani types, with there slim body and shorter nature. No constrictors were truly king in regards to size and strength.

Oscillating his body, he moved quickly down the passageway, moving as snakes do, more of pushing against the ground, and propelling themselves along.

Finally he came out into the coliseum, the gate already up, and moved out into the red sand, looking around for his foe, as his gate rose...

Bones is a Constrictor Dhani. He likes to eat meat. He also has some speech problems.

When he speaks, a double s (ss) means a [th] sound, that he cannot say.

A triple s (sss) means just an [s], but it is extended in his speech.

[The Akeldama Colosseum]Battle of the Beasts[Almech]

Almech had just woken up in his cage, his nose took in the scent of the leavings in the corner he'd left the night before, it was a smell he'd grown accustomed to in his time here as shale's property. He was a cruel man, but atleast he wasn't as bad as the Zith, he atleast made sure Almech was kept properly nourished, afterall, Almech had indeed become a good bread winner for Shale. Almech's handler came to him and placed a food and water dish into the slot on his cage door "Eat quickly boy, you have a fight pretty soon" this man was good to Almech. Atleast this man spoke to him and treated him with the most respect out of all the bipeds before him, often he would come in late at night, drunk, and would randomly talk to all the animals in his care.

Almech had come to know the man quite well, he wondered why he spoke so freely to animals, as if they could understand him, Almech could, but this man had no way of knowing that fact. Almech ate his meal in a half rush and larped down what water he needed, his handler scratched behind his ears after removing the dishes "Don't worry though, you're a winner, you always have been". Almech's cage had wheels on them, he'd come to know it as his home considering the only time he'd left it was to enter the arena, and he knew he soon would when his handler began pushing his cage into the hall. It always seemed to take years before reaching the gates to the arena, and when he arrived the gate raised up and his cage was opened.

Almech entered the arena with a light trot, the crowd roared seeing one of their favorite pit dogs walk towards the center, this always hurt Almech's ears, and when his first appearence, the roaring crowd scared him silly. Then he saw his opponent, a very long snake, he'd seen snakes before in his travels, but never one this huge, it was truly a site to see, but in his arrogance, thought it was a joke Really? i'm fighting that?. Almech could hardly grasp the idea, it was just a long thing, and as far as Almech knew snakes only had two long fangs, all he'd need to do was avoid those and this battle was his. He sat down and cocked his head at the creature with a curious look about his face, he trotted around it and pawed at it's long scaley body, not hard, just a pat, and his nose got the better of him, ducking his head down he began sniffing the serpent.

At first entering the arena, there was a confused murmur from the crowd. It took several seconds for them to realize that there was a giant snake coming out of the gate. One woman even let out a scream of surprise. His body moving along, he continued going out of the gate, to the amazement of many people who thought his entire length had already come out. Surely even here, they had never seen a snake that long.

For it was not common for an animal to get to such length, common snakes certainly did not, they were probably thinking it was some dire snake from Taldera or something, as little sense as a snake in a cold area made sense.

Bones moved along, first sensing the body heat exuded by his foe, long before he saw him with his other senses. He was definitely warm blooded, Bones could almost smell the fresh smell of warm blood on sand...

But no, he had to control that impulse, he had been told by Shale not to kill the animal, though he did not know why. Though the beast would surely by trying to kill him... He was not to worried, looking at the puny thing, which he easily dwarfed in size... He was as thick as a tree trunk, and as long as one was tall, next to this tiny stump of a dog... But he had to make the fight look good, play with him, even if he did not kill him...

So Bones let the beast come to him, let it sniff at his scales, trying to check him out, as Bones held back the broiling death trying to bubble out of him... So easy to kill him... He could bite at his neck with his mouth, one swift movement swiping his face in, and easily break its neck in one move, while ripping out its throat.... Or he could wrap around it, and slowly squeeze the breath out of him, until he stopped moving... Or he could simply lift up his heavy long tail, and bring its crushing weight down on the dogs back, breaking its spine and making it immobile...

Since all of those things would be lethal, Bones did none of those. As the dog sniffed at him, Bones lifted the end of his tail, and swung it at the dogs torso with all of its weight behind it, though not to hard. If he struck full force, the dog would likely have broken ribs, and if it tried to stop it with its mouth, to bite, it would likely snap its neck... So he could not do that so early in the fight...

So he would only try to hit with a little force, enough to knock the dog skidding a few dozen feet over the sand, and to knock its breath out, just a gentle swipe... If it was smart, it would not try and bite his tail, as Bones would not be able to stop, and if he did that he would likely have teeth knocked out, even if it managed to stop the attack and got a single bite in.

Though if it hit the dogs torso, along with knocking the air from it, it would feel like being hit by a runaway wagon, going downhill, not at all pleasant. But a mere playful swipe compared to what he could do if he were to seriously be trying to kill it...

Almech heard a disturbance a threatening rustling on the ground, he turned to see the snake's tail about to crash into him, he had no idea what to do, he would easily be winded or severely wounded by this attack. An idea hit him though and he lunged toward the attack and twisted his body, The force struck him hard in the side, but the twisting of his body with the impact of the tail caused him to "roll over" it's tail. He fell to the ground with a hard thud and got up with a slight limp, he's jammed a joint in his foot trying to land, he gritted his teeth and plant the paw on the ground ignoring the pain and he growled at the serpent.

He now realized this thing could kill him easily, he thought that because of it's size it would be slow moving, but he misinterpreted the situation, he wasn't sure what to do next, examining the skin of the creature, he had found it's body was protected by scales, it would be tough to cut through with his claws and on top of that, the thick was so thick he wouldn't be able to get his teeth around enough flesh to bite, his teeth would just slip away.

He watched as it slithered and looked at him, then flicking it's toungue around, a terrifying beast comprised of nothing but muscle, he then made a very tough decision, jumping into the fire as his father would have put it. He would have to go for the snake's eyes, they were the only soft tissue he could attack it seemed, but that would bring him face to face with his opponent's fangs, the crowd watched cheering on Almech as he growled and snarled at the snake, trying to instill fear into it as spit dribbled from his jaws onto the ground with a fierce look in his eyes.

He took a deep breath and got a goot grounding and then dug in with his claws and took off, running as quickly as he could, rushing the front of the snake's body, he didn't know what would happen, but he lept into the air. He attempted to land on his opponent's body bypassing the head, then turning around to slash at his eyes from behind with his sharp claws. He knew this battle was a test of his strength, to test his conviction to avenge his family.
