Hello, I'm a new member---haven't even posted my character sheet yet. Forgive me if I am breaking protocol, but I am making this post in an effort not to do so. My character will be a Syliras born Zeltiva student. It would be my preference that she begin in the world at the end of her journey to Zeltiva, but I am unsure if that is appropriate. I see there is a space for student applications. Do I begin that before I post my character sheet? Do I post my sheet as if she is already there, then apply? Or do I start in my home town, apply, then make my journey? I understand I must post my character sheet and have it checked through before beginning play, so no worries there, and I hope this post for clarification doesn't break any rules to begin with. In any case, I look forward to meeting you all and hope to be a bonus to your city and institution. Thank you for your time.

Hello Lenell, welcome to Mizahar and Zeltiva! We're happy to have your cautious self aboard! :D

As for the questions, I was already mid reply when my computer turned itself off without saving any of the text, so here's the retry. Hopefully I do correct as I'm newish myself.

The easiest thing for you to do regarding the journey would be to just wait a few more days and then Spring will hit officially. When that one gets there, you just need to write a simple post at [Entrance] The Rolling Waves. The post will detail the moment of your character arriving into the city and shouldn't dwell too much on the travel itself, as that can always be a fun thread for you to write separately at a later date.
As for being a student, finish up your sheet first, have it verified (this is not a must, but it hasteness the process by removing nedless lag later on), and simply apply for a student spot in the University. You can do that here.

Also, I'm not sure if you're already aware, but there's a ferocious palgue pestering the city currently, so most people who actually come into the city would either be somehow unaware of the problem, be really hardcore scholars to come and study under these terms.... they could have some obscured, more personal motives for being in the city too. Perhaps those motives are more important to your character than their personal safety.. and so on and so forth. Anyways, I'm starting to ramble in short - CS, enterance, student registry, begin play.

I for one can't wait to see what kind of character you have in mind. Drop me a PM if you find yourself in need of a RP buddy. I'd be happy to write with you. :)

Thanks so much, especially since the computer demon plagued you into writing things twice (speaking of plagues). Working my little character writing fingers to the bone to come join you. Plague or not, my character is on her way. Can't wait!

Hello everyone! (Welcome Lenell) I am a new member as well, life has been dragging me away from starting my experience at Mizahar but I look forward to getting to know all (well, as many as I can) of you.

I am in a rut on where to start - would anyone like to start a new thread with me so I understand how Zeltiva works?

Much appreciated! :)

The Common Room

PLEASE NOTE

The season changes tomorrow, and so today is your FINAL day to create threads timestamped for Winter, 512 AV. From tomorrow your present day threads must be timestamped Spring, 513 AV. Your Winter threads become 'grandfathered', meaning no new players may join them, and you must work to finish them as efficiently as possible. You may create placeholder threads for Winter today, but please note they must be dated and at least have a sentence explaining what the purpose of the thread will be. I will delete empty Winter placeholders as they simply take up space in the city forum.

Another thing to take note of is jobs and wages, which I will be personally dealing with again this season. If you had been given a job this season you should know you needed 2 job threads to earn your wages. Please fill in the wage request template and pop it in the usual grading request thread. I will check out job threads and award wages over the next few days :)

Finally, you MUST deduct living expenses from your ledgers at the end of today. I will be checking and ensuring people have done this, as grading and posting will not happen for those who haven't. I know there are a few exceptions of people that arrived within the last few days who I'm not going to make you pay living expenses - please PM me if you think you should have an exception.

That's all, feel free to ask questions publicly here so everyone can see the answers :)

I should have added to the above:

There will be a new Character Registry going up tomorrow for Spring, so make sure you re-register. EVERYONE in Zeltiva must be registered, even if you're just passing through. I will get a Spring Calendar up within the next week or so also :)

Final addition to the notes above: there seems to be a little confusion over the threads in wage requests. You need to request grading on these threads in the normal way and separately from wage requests. When you provide thread evidence in a wage request it is not the same as requesting a grading on them. Please make clear what you are requesting to avoid confusion or us grading threads prematurely.

I have a question for Paragon!

My current ledger is lower than the living expenses I need to deduct. What happens then? I've got a job, and shall be submitting a wage request later today, but do I go into the minuses for the meantime? Or wait until I get my wages?

Additionally, just to lump it into this question for others, what if you don't have the funds, or a job?

Cheers!

Great questions Erekez!

If you know that your impending wages will balance out the books, wait until I award you them and deduct living expenses after (I won't penalise you if I haven't awarded wages yet) - I think keeping it all clean is the best policy.

As for not having the funds or a job, the simple answer is that there really isn't an excuse XD Look at your skill set and try your best to think what role your PC might play in Zeltiva. If you don't have funds then your ledger will obviously default to zero. Your character is bankrupt and you will need to play their poverty accordingly (your character won't even be able to afford food, so they are in serious danger in terms of health and circumstance). Make finding a job priority. In the meantime, are there other characters your PC knows that could lend or give you money to tide you over?

You do need to make sure that finding a way your character can afford living expenses is one of your priorities, it's a part of the game after all, and you want to keep your character alive right?

Hope this answers your questions :)
