"Well, my fair lady, my name is something that will cost you," he replied with a hint of laughter. "those stunning silver eyes of yours tell me a story of solitude, that I'd be most interested to hear about." He opened the heavy oaken door and gestured to walk in, his eyes on a table closest to the crackling fire and relatively far off so that the blaring drunk laughter wasn't so hard on the ears. "I'd be most enthralled to hear your tale." He smiled warmly waiting for her to walk into the tavern.

"Cost me?" She frowned slightly, stepping into the tavern, the warmth of the inside washing over her. Many women would have lowered their lashes shyly at the flattery, but she didn't, only narrowed her eyes. "I'll have to warn you, I'm not very talkative," She said, following him to the table he'd had his eye on. She didn't talk much, especially not with strangers, and especially not about her past.

Despite her cold nature towards him, Jase knew that he could get her to open up to him. Not many people could withstand his charm, it was one of his greatest talents and at times, his biggest flaw. He had confidence in his silver-tongue and a few glasses of wine to perhaps loosen her's...

"Sit," he said, gesturing to the padded chair of the tiny wooden table. He flagged down a server and asked for their finest bottle of House Wine (10gm). "Now, as you could probably imagine, I'm new to this place and don't really have anyone I can call an acquaintance, let alone a friend. I'm hoping you can change that. From what I can tell, you don't look like someone seeking companionship, but I'm quite certain I can change that." He looked serious, traces of his joking smile long since disappeared, "so, what do you think?"

At his gesture, she sat at the table, tucking her wiry legs beneath her and folding her hands on her lap after arranging the cloak so her body was covered. "Confident, are you?" she commented, looking at him, wrinkling her nose slightly. It was true that she wasn't exactly looking for a friend of any sort, but she was lonely, loathe as she was to admit it.

She considered his words carefully, watching him. Could this man be the companion she so desperately longed for? Somehow, she was skeptical of that. "I think," She said after a pause, "That we'll have to see where things take us. I've no wish to make any kind of commitment," She shrugged, looking up as the server returned with the bottle of house wine.

He smiled, this time sparing the teeth. It was a sly smile... "I have all evening," he said coolly pouring her a glass of red. He took a sip first making sure it was of good quality and gave her a nod of approval. The wine was surprisingly tasty, and had a slight kick to it. It was worth the money he paid for it he decided.

"Have you been to Avanthal on a previous occasion?" he asked, "it truly is a marvel isn't it?". The last part was somewhat of a personal statement than a question, trailing off before he could even get a response. "You know," he said patiently, "I'm still waiting for you to tell me your story. It seems most interesting, I can tell from your reaction from when I asked you about it earlier." Unlike others, Jase wasn't afraid to pry if it meant getting a conversation going, and the gods knew that Jase loved a good story. He leaned back in his chair letting the flames warm him and the ambiance take him away, his eyes waiting for a reply.

The young Kelvic sniffed at the glass before taking a tentative sip of the rich red liquid. It was a good wine, sweet, but not overly, with a faint bitter aftertaste, and it sent a pleasant rush of warmth through her as it slid down her throat. Taking a larger drink, she held the cup between her hands, nibbling her lower lip as she looked at him, sitting across from her. The firelight from behind him cast flickering shadows over her pale, feline-like face, and lit up her silver eyes with a faint golden sheen, like the reflection of a candle on ice.

"I'm here on and off," She shrugged, "I don't usually stay in one place for too long. It is rather beautiful here, though," She agreed after a slight pause, taking another sip of the spiced wine. She raised a raven brow, flashing her fangs as she gave a sharp laugh. "Don't hold your breath, you'll be waiting for some time, I'm afraid," She purred with another laugh, this time less sharp and more genuine, a smirk on her lips as she looked at him, a smug, catty look in her bright eyes.

The Lord in exile chuckled at her last statement and poured her another glass. He was glad that she hadn't asked about him, for he was not certain if he was willing to share his dark past with someone he had just met. He took a deep look into her beautiful silver eyes and sighed... The eyes, they reminded him so much of Miranda... She was so beautiful, and never again had Jase thought he could love when Darkstone had taken her away from him.

Nonetheless, Jase knew how to play this game, and knew how to play it well. He waited for her to down her second glass, the bottle ready to pour a third. "We can't have you going thirsty now, can we?" he laughed, not as loud as some of the other patrons, but loud enough for her to hear.

When he caught her eyes, Elvyra rolled her shoulders nervously, but didn't break the gaze, a subtle gleam of challenge in her expression. Tucking her hair behind her ear, she arched her brows as he readily filled her glass, noticing he'd barely touched his first while she was on her third. She wasn't stupid, of course.

"You're trying to get me drunk." Her voice was matter-of-fact, and left little room for denial as she sipped more cautiously at her third glass of wine, a wary look creeping across her face, doubt in her eyes. A pleasant buzz was filling her mind, and she knew she was already tipsy. If she was wise, she would put her glass down and wouldn't touch anymore wine, but she didn't easily back down from a challenge, which was what she saw this as.

"Am I now?", he said, a hint of irony in his voice. He grabbed his wine and downed in in a single gulp and poured a second drinking it almost as fast. She was sharper than he initially thought, and she had a wild flare to her, that once again reminded him of his former love. "Now why in the world would I try to get you drunk," he inquired, his lips curving at the edge giving him away,"I'm merely trying to get to know you, but you keep avoiding my questions. How do you expect me to get you talking?" This girl was almost as stubborn as he was in his youth.

Jase broke eye contact with Elvyra for a moment, to look around the common room of the tavern. Above the roaring fireplace, a vast array of beasts' and creatures' horns decorated the whitewashed walls. Servers of all ages, walked about, bringing meals to the hungry northern patrons.

"Are you hungry," he asked, "sometimes a nice warm meal could stop the wine from going straight to your head you know. The meal is on me of course." He stroked his right cheek, the dark brown stubble running along his fingers.

She rolled her eyes, but couldn't help the small smile that ghosted her lips. The man was persistent, she would give him that. "I don't," She told him, "I expect you to give up and leave me alone, though clearly that's not happening." Amusement hid behind her eyes as she sipped her wine.

"Hm? No, I'm not hungry. I'll go catch a mouse later," She said with a careless wave of a small hand, her lips quirking up on one side, though she seemed perfectly serious, which in all actuality, she was. She'd often caught and eaten prey in her feral form.

For a moment, she was silent, before she cast a wary eye over him. Slowly, she asked, "So, what exactly would you like to know about me?" She didn't know how much she would tell him. She might make it all up, or tell him nothing, or tell him everything. She hadn't decided quite yet.
