5th of Winter 511 AV Up in one of the biggest trees, Wingar was waiting for the sunset. Sitting there, hidden behind some leaves, Wingar was looking at his ring. It made him remember, that he had a family, a place to live with others, not alone as he was doing. He then suddenly heard some noises, he looked towards the source of the sound. It was a bush. "Was it in the wind? or could it be my future meal?" thought Wingar as he was tired of haven't been eating meat for days. When he heard another sound from the same bush, he then knew it was a living being. He slowly moved down from branch to branch, hopping not to be heard. He came down at the bottom of the tree, still hearing noises from the bush, he slowly approached it. He didn't want to jump on the bush as it could be from a little rabbit, to a Kriital. He was as careful as possible when pushing aside the leaves. Unluckily there was nothing. But he found rabbit tracks leading towards the north. Wingar had had some training in tracking but wasn't very good, he knew that. He followed these tracks as good as he could, but suddenly lost it and came to a little cavern. To his horror, there was a bear hibernating. He slowly backed up, but broke a fallen branch. The bear woke up, seeing Wingar in front of him, he found out who was going to be his next meal. When Wingar saw this, he turned around and started sprinting away. He ran through the forest. He jumped over rocks, over fallen tree. Suddenly while jumping over a fallen tree he hurt his head against a thick branch. He fell, luckily he didn't faint, but he started bleeding. The bear came closer and closer. So Wingar got up on his feet quickly and started running again. The bear still behind him, Wingar started climbing up a tree. For once something good happened this day: he managed to climb the tree and when he was quite height up, he unfolded his wings, and flew over to the next tree. He landed on perfectly on a branch, but it broke. He was falling down when he managed to grab the trunk. He got down on a thicker branch, and tired as he now was, he folded his wings to keep the warmth and then sat down. The night was still fresh, but after that run, he thought about sleeping for a little moment. Half an hour later, he woke up of the sound of crows over his head. "What is happening? and why aren't the crows asleep?" thought Wingar as he was standing up. He looked down to see the bear sleeping next to the tree. "Is it dead? Is it trying to get me down so it can kill me? or is it just sleeping?". Wingar jumped over the opposite tree, landing perfectly without making any sounds. He looked down, the bear was still there, not moving. He jumped down from the tree, and in the mid-air, he unfolded his wings and landed silently. He retrieved his claws who where hidden under his nails. He slowly walked up to the animal, being careful not walking on branches or anything that could be noisy. He was now standing behind the bear. Wingar Stabbed it several times in the neck. The animal screamed out loud. Making all birds flying away. The Bear then fell down on the ground, dead. Wingar laughed out loud, yelling in Common language: "Ha! (coughs), no body can stay against the great Wingar!". He tried to remove the fur of the bear as good as possible, using his claws. He took out his knife from his backpack. And cut up the raw bear meat in different parts, that he putted in his backpack. He went over to the cavern where the bear once slept, then he assembled branches and with his flint and steel, started a fire. He cooked 3 parts he had cut up, 1 got burned, while the 2 others where somehow good. He ate up the food. He felt great, he hadn't had meat for days now. Wingar just sat there and looked straight away, thinking of his past. The sun was rising, so he stamped the fire, and settled down to sleep. |
