Medical VS. Carpenter

"Erm… And this is?" Awkwardly, Lixue held out a tool. The thing was nearly as long as her arm and was covered in jagged points on one side. The utensil came to a point and was as thin as a fingernail. On the end Lixue held, a woodened handle kept her hand from touching the metal. Perplexed on even how to hold the object, Lixue's nose was scrunched. Green eyes stared at the tool as if it were one of her patients, as if she could find the best way to make the situation work.

Lixue had gotten together with a builder and set the plan in motion for the layout of her home. The treehouse would be round and be big enough for up to four people. There would be a small deck all the way around the home. There would be two entrances, one from the bottom and one from the side. In the middle of the home, a tree would grow. The roof would angle upwards, and be open near the center. To keep the bugs out, a net would be set into place. The foliage from above would keep any rain out. The sides themselves all looked like doors, but were not. The walls were sets of four rectangles, each separated and cut into half visually. Netting would be in place to keep the bugs out and the roof would extend over the deck to keep the rain off. For now, there was only one main room. In the future, Lixue hoped to have several bedrooms built on, along with a bathroom. As it was, for now, she only wished to have the home itself built! The bottom floor was already laid down and the Jamoura were beginning the walls, a seemingly tedious task.

Outside of the hospital, outside of her element, Lixue normally floundered no matter how hard she tried to learn. This was no different. When it came to carpentry skills, Lixue discovered she had none. Ly and her were trying to help the builders on their home. Ly had wanted to stay out of the way and let them simply follow the plans Lixue helped set into place, but she felt guilty making them do all of the work. Five minutes later and neither had any idea of what to do. Ly could at least work a hammer and be somewhat helpful. Lixue on the other hand… was sitting in the middle of a pile of tools, looking bewildered and lost. A builder was trying to explain the different tools and Lixue was slowly learning, but the Jamoura was quickly losing patience.

"That is a saw, Lixue," he grunted, reaching out to take the utensil from her. "This pointed end you use to literally cut something. Your hand goes here," he placed his own on the handle, "and then you push back and forth on top of something."

"So… Like a bone saw?" Lixue questioned, understanding. A bone saw was used just like the name intended: to cut bones. A surgeon would use it in the case of a leg needing amputating. It saved a lot of trouble from happening. If the bone could not be sawed, it would need to be crushed to break. And if that was necessary, the chance of something going wrong was so much higher.

"Erm… Yeah, sure," the Jamoura shrugged after a long pause. "Saws are also used in different situations. To finish off an already fallen tree, for example. Or in the kitchen, to break a hard fruit." Setting the tool down gently, the Jamoura picked up another. This one was longer than Lixue's arm. On one end it curled around, split into two and came to points. On the other, the end went the opposite direction and stayed together in a point. When Lixue went to lift the object, it was heavier than she intended and jerked her hand back down to the floor.

Quietly, the Jamoura took the tool from her grasp. "This is a crowbar. You can use it to remove things such as nails from boards or to prop up things too heavy to lift." When Lixue opened her mouth, the Jamoura cut her off, "I swear, if you reference this to a medical tool, also, I'm leaving!"

A blush stained Lixue's cheeks. Maybe she had been. So what?
