[Wind Reach OOC] Touching The Sky

No way, I love these DS announcements. Even though it's OOC it kinda keeps the close-knit feel to Wind Reach. But that's just me, I might be weird.

And I was thinking about an open thread but two questions;
1) I know the larger of the two twin lakes is warmer but any idea of how warm?
2) Of said lake above, also being less populated by swimming things, are those swimmies dangerous? (Totally not thinking about anything deviant)

[Wind Reach OOC] Touching The Sky

Postby Cyrill on June 20th, 2010, 6:34 pm

So, I’m getting ready to write a glassblowing thread for Cyrill and I figured I’d ask this before I do anything else...

Would you say that the tools used for glassblowing in Wind Reach are more similar to those used in modern times or medieval times? I realize that we don’t have access to electricity or any modern mechanisms, but what about those small personal furnaces that were developed in 1962? Do we have those or only large communal-type furnaces?

Cyrill - Definitely ancient. Besides, everyone knows ancient glassworkers produced FAR BETTER glass than modern day technology does - in the handworking aspect. I can probably do a writeup later this month or the first of july. There would be no personal furnaces. Rather, there'd be large communal type furnaces and annealing ovens to cool the glass. I can give you a tool list already if you'd like one or point you to some great websites on glassworking techniques.

[Wind Reach OOC] Touching The Sky

Beau - Think of the lakes in terms of hotsprings. The upper lake is HOT. It won't scald your skin or anything, but it keeps everyone warm and they actually use the water to circulate it through the baths in Wind Reach to keep the bathwater nice and toasty. The second late is cooler and well populated with fish the riders stock. The upper lake has large luminous jellies while the lower lake is more towards the fish variety. I haven't thought of anything 'dangerous' mainly because in the 500 years since Skyinarta was created, probably no big predators have evolved and the only thing transplanted there is yummy stuff to eat. Now.. the ocean nearby is populated with sharks large enough to snatch an eagle out of the sky....

But.. that being said, I'm totally open to development on local flora and fauna of the lake.

Another DS public service announcement (henceforth called the DSPSA).

Open to the first three or four people. I'd prefer folks with glassworks but that's not necessary. Dek can play too, though the other PCs might kick you around a bit. :P

Thanks for the info, Goss. I already found some useful websites, but I'd love a list of tools if that's not too much trouble. :)

I also love the DSPSAs! They really keep everyone up to date about what's happening in and around the city and keep the OOC thread active as well. :)

I'd like to join this adventure ... I hope non-Inarta are allowed.

Feel free. I'd love to have you. We don't discriminate here if you don't have red hair. It's only if you are a dek we kick you around a little. :)

[Wind Reach OOC] Touching The Sky

Postby Gossamer on June 24th, 2010, 7:48 am

Hey Guys. I've got no DSPSA's today. But beings that we are coming up on our second week being open, I was just wondering how everyone is doing? Are there needs that need to be addressed? Do you have suggestions for improving our city? Is there just something missing or incomplete? I'm working on a goal of trying to get a description and NPC that is associated with that location description put into the city per day. So that way we can get the locations fixed up ASAP so people can play. Also, if you want to go shopping, we're going to set up a thread called 'Market Day' where the description of the Courtyard of the Sky and the STained Glass Gallery (Which if you haven't figured out yet are sorta the same place or at least adjacent and used according to weather/season/snow level)... so people can do some freeform shopping whenever they need too. Also, if your a craftsman or have items, don't be afraid to post in there when you have stuff for sale. You never know when people will want them... or I can conversely post a list of 'artisans' in the beginning post that PCs can contact for specialty items.

Anyhow, its been sort of quiet so I thought I'd pop in and make some noise. Let me know what you think and what you'd like to see next.
