[East Street] Getting schooled in Zeltiva (Nai'shee)

One of the best places in Zeltiva had to be the East Street. It was a place where is fun and anything is possible like Sunberth, only it was a lot more safer relatively speaking of course. Still it was home and who was Bob to not enjoy the place while he had the chance? And he was really enjoying the place. Bob took point like so many other people along the street but he was not offering companionship even when some strange people asked for it. He was just going to have a game or two. The true gambling houses here might not be happy with him taking some of their customers just the street workers who were already staring at him thinking that was what he was doing but he was already going to leave soon. By the time he returned they might forget about him.

True to the only thing he was interested in, Bob played around with a deck of cards in his hand. It should be a sign for other people but still somehow they thought he was one of the cheap ones. There was just too many of them here with a gimmick in their hands too. Finally after turning away a few people Bob got impatient and said "you don't have enough for me" which seemed to work until he came to a very outrageous person declaring that it was only the customer who got to decide that. "Sigh, fine. There is a test you need to pass because my boss doesn't like me doing idiots" he suggested but did he have to say idiots? It only made it seem more like a challenge.

"It costs five for the cards" he said splitting them up. Seeing the look on the woman's face Bob reminded her that "I already said I'm not cheap." Actually he took this test as another game and he already decided on a price. The problem was that with the risk of having to accompany this sickly looking woman, he upped the price. If he actually thought it through properly Bob might have realized that ten is still not enough to balance with his own body, even if he intended to win. Although he could just put an unbelievable price to ensure that he did not have to follow the woman to wherever, it was still not in the spirit of gambling. Would Ovek let him win with that mentality?

Bob decided on old maid because...the sickly woman reminded him of one. "You know how it goes" as the explanation he gave went, "it is the jokers that has to entertain." Then Bob split up the deck giving half to her as he said "get rid of the doubles. You don't need them." Interesting. It did not look like the game would last too long and Bob did not even have the joker. Suited him just fine and since he had to show the woman what to do, "I'll go first." He watched her as his hands moved around the cards she offered him. To see if there is any reaction when "I'll take that one!"

It was towards the end that Bob got the joker. "Shyke..." he told himself. The way that she played, showing the man the spots that he needed to avoid he thought he had an easy win. There was only a few and they went on. If he was lucky, taking such a big risk might make Ovek help him but he did not trust that too much. There was only one person Bob trusted, even if he did not trust himself too well. Every moment which passed, Bob added some djed in his eyes. The opposite of the cards that were being discarded. He was getting quite worried as he watched the cards being whittled down into just the last but he also had to remain confident. Just like each card adding to the nice size of the deck, every little djed he was accumulating will add up to his success.

While that was true for the hypnotism, it was not for the cards. Bob was holding his breath as he struggled to hold his djed when he was struck with the reality that he might have to entertain this woman. Brrrrr...but he cannot let it lose his cool and his control over his djed. When it was her turn, Bob let out the djed as it pierced into her eyes. Suggesting, no commanding her like a queen that was the only representation for bitchy females in the game to take the card on her right. Bob even made it easier for her tilting his hand slightly so that the joker is more likely to be taken as she did. It was over. All that was left is to leave it up to Ovek for the last few.

The woman's signs could not be trusted after what happened. For all Bob knew she was actually playing him for a fool all along. The last card...Bob shut his eyes and grabbed one at random making sure he was not stopped by any worries. A clear sign of his great experience when he is at a loss but at times like this it was effective. Waving the lady off that she had a "nice try but you shouldn't try things like this next time" he pocketed his gold and looked around at those people who were doing the real dirty work before settling down again and waiting for his next victim. The only difference this time is he was not going to bet himself under any circumstances.

Wandering around Zeltiva was what one expected to see Nai'shee doing every day. Citizens probably already got bored of running into her on daily basis. On the other side, gambling wasn't her thing. She worked hard to earn her money and she was feeling uneasy betting it. She knew nothing about gambling and thus, she considered it to be matter of pure luck. Additionally, she didn't know how to play a single game. Even the simplest, ones children usually play around. Her childhood wasn't as peaceful and she had only a few friends, being very socially awkward at that age.

However, today she felt as trying something new. But she had no idea how to approach situation. She found herself in The East Street, gambling heaven, looking as if she was lost. Everyone seemed picky and suspicious. On top of that, she didn't think anyone would teach her to play. They'd probably just take all of "that newbie girl's" money. Why the hell she didn't ask any of her friends earlier? Somebody must have known that.

She stood there not sure what to do, until she spotted a person sitting nearby playing with his deck of cards, seemingly waiting for an opponent. But the thing was he was barely bigger than the chair he sat in! Nai'shee blinked. She saw many different races and creatures, but she never saw an adult tall as a average child. She wasn't aware she was staring. The man seemed confident. Gambling was probably his thing. Maybe life call. Or he was an addict. Whatever the reason, seeing all that confidence in someone like that was weird again. The girl didn't approach, tho. The fact man wasn't tall didn't make him a one bit less dangerous for her pocket.

After that, no one else came. Probably what he has done has spread through the street either by spectators that did not want any competition the woman herself being dissatisfied that she did not get what she wanted. Bob was getting quite bored, shuffling the cards in his hand to try and pass the time. He barely got any mizas and his chance has ended too soon. Perhaps it was time to go back and rest up for the journey that will continue the next day or...he should stay and force people to get into a gamble with him. It was not like Ovek will drop in a pile of money on him for doing nothing. He had to make the effort himself, he had to make his own luck. Yes, if Bob wanted to make his money he was going to have to get it from whatever person he can sucker it from. It was all up to him and who he found but he was feeling pretty good especially with all the Zeltivans made desperate by the plague. it felt bad to rip off his fellows in this time but...Bob needed his cash, and fun.

As if his convictions were right, he spied on a a woman staring right at him. Without a doubt, Bob would agree that he looked pretty good but it was still rude so he looked back. Trying to get a measure of the type of woman she was and what she might want. Obviously aware of the plague bob was not going to give those other services the East Street was famous for but he might be able to provide her with the exciting world of gambling. That was what he felt when he was looking at her. She was in the middle of the street as if she just chanced upon him. Unless she was a very experienced and elaborate street worker, Bob would not think that she was one of those second rate consorts that stood at the side of the street trying to get the attention of anyone that passed. In fact, was she planning anything at all? From her position it looked like she was interested in what Bob was doing but still, wary in the way that she kept her distance from him.

Another vict...player then he happily thought. Now all there was to do is bring her to him. Thinking a little Bob decided to use the old Barton gambling charm. He gave a smile at her direction and an innocent looking wave that dropped one of his dice to the ground hoping to appear less capable. He feigned his clumsiness looking between the dice and the girl before giving another smile and putting the remaining cards and his deck in front of him before proceeding to search for the dice taking as much time as possible. Obviously he was inviting her to come and choose the game she wanted. As long as Bob could get her interest, he knew he was halfway through with getting what he wanted. It could be quite easy. If his observations were right she might have been a novice, someone that Bob could get as much money as he could before she wised up and ran but if he was wrong...at least it will be fun for him. Her experience and sneakiness will only help Bob to gauge how good he is today.

She will come, she has to...because not only did Bob set a trap with his actions, he did the same with his djed. It was when he saw her and when he became sure of what she wanted he started to accumulate some djed. As it did not need to be effective in anyway except send her a simple message, he allowed that short timeframe to collect the little amount of djed to his eyes which he sent to her together with his smile. That was all it took to make her experience that sudden thought of "he looks like a fun person." Of course he would only be able to find out her reaction to it once he found the die. Hopefully she would be right in front of him when he does.
