The young boy's jaw tightened as the two girls approached him about there being something wrong with the plan, something more which needed young. These two hadn't spent days coming up with this idea. No, they were just going to hop on his back, throw an idea out, and claim his glory for their own. It was to be expected, after all, most of the children in this room were sure to only be a Chiet at best. Trying to smile sweetly, Niro addressed Mia first.

"Mia. From what I've seen, you don't have any skills at all! What are you gonna do that can help any of us?" He crossed his arms, staring down his feisty opponent. "You can be in charge of the inaccurate fire group? Or would you rather be in charge of the sleeping-while-we-should-be-doing-something-important brigade?" With a dismissive wave of his hand, he turned his attention to Aela.

"Well, what do you have in mind?" He frowned, looking around at the other children. Some were still paying attention, while others, mostly older, had moved off on their own. "To be clear, the food is for eating. The education supplies are our weapons." Okay, so it wasn't the best plan. It was more about making a scene than actually defeating the adults. If they made enough ruckus about something like a 15 chime nap, maybe the teachers would decide it's not worth all the headache. Gods knew that if they didn't have that nap time back after this event, it's not like Niro was going to stop fighting.

"I suppose we could move furniture and stuff to block the entry way so Kirip and the others just have to brace it? Any ideas need to come fast, though. We need to get into position soon, there are only like 5 chimes left until break is over!" Once the instructors returned, everyone had to be ready. The battle would begin immediately. It would be tough, and dangerous. Plus, there was no way they would pin it all on him as much as he claimed he would take the fall.

”A good leader knows how to listen. He knows how to draw on others’ strengths and compensates their weaknesses. A good leader, Mia, is someone who knows that he needs his people just as much as they need him. Remember this and the Skies will be yours soon enough.”

Mia must have been no older than four when her father first told her this. The two had been sitting on top of The Edge of The World after Lavek had helped the little girl scale the side of the wall. Climbing together, just the two of them, had become somewhat of a tradition after that day, but Mia had never forgotten that first lesson. She could still recall the exact words, and as she carefully regarded the young boy glaring down at her, she could hear her father’s voice whispering them in her head.

The feisty redhead wasn’t sure she understood everything the words meant and she certainly didn’t know how to go about following the advice they held. She knew of weaknesses and strengths in terms of the caste system in Wind Reach, but she had yet to learn to see them as part of a person – as many and as diverse as the Inarta were. She didn’t want to need people and she wanted people needing her even less. And as for listening was concerned, that had never been one of her strongest skills.

But even her limited and distorted understanding of what it was to be a leader was a million times better than Niro’s, if the boy’s words and actions were any indication. Or so Mia decided to believe.

Her expression shifted from angry to thoughtful as her eyes followed the would-be Endal. He had already turned his back to her, speaking instead to the other girl, who was also apparently as dissatisfied as Mia was at the prospect of having nothing else to do, but throw books around while Niro got back up on his chair and chirped orders at them. Or perhaps it wasn’t the boy’s apparent lack of leadership skills that bothered her, but rather the lack of excitement of the assigned task. Whatever her reasoning for protesting was Mia didn’t fail to notice that Niro was a lot more pleasant when addressing her.

As the boy turned around again to address those of the Yasi that were still showing some interest in his plan, Mia slowly rose to her feet and took the couple of steps that separated them. She stopped uncomfortably close to him, appearing not to be concerned in the slightest about the obvious violation of the concept of personal space. Her golden eyes might have seemed slightly unfocused, but she met Niro’s gaze head on and held it for a moment, which stretched for too long in the mostly quiet space.

For the first time Mia was actually happy about her height, as she noted that she was as tall as the boy. She already had to tilt her head all the way back if she hoped to even stand a chance of meeting the eyes of some of the adults that she was forced to interact with. She wouldn't accept being on anything else, but an equal footing with him.

Niro didn’t appear to be anything special even from up close. The golden-eyed Yasi took in the messy hair that stood every which way, the thin frame that made him appear taller than he actually was… the only thing that caught her attention were his eyes. For some reason Mia couldn’t quite pinpoint they reminded her of a burning fire much more than the wild nest on his head did. Even so…

“Dek.” The word fell from her lips, loud and clear, without as much as an inhale for a warning. “Or perhaps Chiet. If you can actually stop talking for long enough to read a book.” There was no malice in Mia’s voice or on her face, she was rather just stating something she believed to be a fact. Her gaze released Niro’s as she looked him up and down again before a small, mischievous smile brightened and relaxed her features. Less than a tick later, her heal landed not too gently on the young leader’s foot. Mia’s smile widened into a grin before she stuck her tongue out at the boy and took a step back. “But an Endal you definitely won’t be!”

Crossing her arms in front of her chest, the little redhead positioned herself next to the other girl… had it been Aela? She spared her a quick glance and a nod before addressing Niro again.
“There is one thing I don’t understand.”She paused for effect, hoping to wind up the boy further. “If we have so little time, why do you waste it by talking. Had you actually started moving the furniture, we might have been done already.”

Naptime and big stand for Yasi rights aside, if they actually managed to pull this off they would have the whole afternoon to themselves! Mia would never say no to ditching her bendi, even if it meant being stuck in a cave with what was surely the loudest 8 year old boy she had ever met.

What Do You Mean There's No Naptime!?(Mia, Open)

Aela pouted, staring emerald green daggers at the proud boy. "No, this is your plan...you need to make it better." In truth the little spitfire didn't have a better idea, nor any at all as far as his plans were concerned. The only idea she had for the moment involved going back outside and watching the skies for Wind Eagles. But she doubted that she had enough time left, and if this boy got his way, they would all be trapped in the room for a while.

She wondered as he explained more about what the food and supplies were for and how moving furniture to block the path was all some form of master plan. It sounded..hard to say the least, and she was sure that after all that was done, if they choose to do so, that everyone would be in need of a nap if not two. "I don't think this is going to work.." she spoke up again, and shook her head. "And if we only have chimes left why are we evening bothering?"

It wasn't that she thought the idea was completely worthless, but Aela wanted them to act. Standing around and shouting wasn't going to get them anywhere, and if the adults learned of the scheme they would all be in trouble, Aela started to add a bit more to what she had to say, until Mia should up and stormed over to Niro. For a tick it looked as if she would run the boy through before she stopped just in front of him.

Aela jumped a bit, expecting a crash of some kind, or in the very least a tumble. But there was nothing and the two stood eye to eye, staring each other down. The word that came out of Mia's mouth next caused Aela's own mouth to drop open. Bold, rude, and somewhat charismatic, those two were more alike than they knew, and Aela started to find a sort of humor in it all.

She glanced down as Mia moved forward, her heal coming down upon Niro's foot. She looked on in surprise, wondering if a fight was about to break out after the girl's rather aggressive move. The girl moved back then, standing closer to her, and she nodded to her as well, then biting her lip to conceal a giggle. Mia knew how to ruffle Niro's feathers, that much was very clear. However, she also had a valid point, if they were going to do this, then it had to be now. "She's right you know, we better hurry."

What Do You Mean There's No Naptime!?(Mia, Open)

They had the gist of it. It was his plan, and it really wasn't that good in the end. It was bound to fail, but Niro wouldn't believe that. Instead of listening, though, he had defiant idiots trying to tell him what to do, or better yet, tell him his plan was bad but offer no suggestions. This Mia was right up in his face. Insulting him. Challenging him infront of everyone. Calling him a...a..DEK? "HOW DARE YOU! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!? I'M GOING TO BE TH- EEEAAAAAOUUUUUCH!" As Mia's heel connected with Niro's big toe, he found his speech cut short. Pain ripped through his food as the boy began to hop around in agony. How uncalled for was that?

I'll kill her. I'll kill her. I'll kill her. I WILL KILL HER!

Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. OUCH. OUCH! Owwie.

Why won't they listennnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!

Mia stood there expectantly by Aela, neither of them were helping, they were just watching him be in pain. How annoying. "Well you idiots! Do it! Move the shelves. Arm yourself! Show them we mean business!" He leaned against the cave wall to support himself, gingerly placing his foot back on the ground. "We'll show them all that we're ready. If we can do this, they can't keep us as Yasi! We'll all be Avora right away! We're too much for these little classrooms!" He pounded his fist against the wall, his eyes tearing from embarassment, anger, and pain. "Fine! You're all just going to stand there!? I'll do it myself!" They were all so worthless. A new caste would be created below Dek for most in this class, it seemed.

Storming over to the bookshelf, Niro grabbed the edge and began to pull. It was bigger than him, so he stood off to the side, but man, was it heavy. He inched himself behind the shelf and the wall where he could use leverage to bring the wooden structure down, as it tilted over slowly, crashing to the ground with a loud bang. "Avoras. Endals. They work. They don't wait on others." Teeth gritted, and his cheeks shiny from the few tears which had escaped, Niro slowly shoved the shelf along the cavern's floor towards the entrance. He would fight them off himself. They would receive no credit, because they offered no aid. They would receive no blame, for they did nothing. This would be his victory alone.

This alone would be his defeat.
