Red moved through the crowd his eyes sweeping over them with no real agenda other then to people watch. Wearing black clothe pants that were a loose fit, and a simple red clothe shirt Red felt a little out of place, and maybe he was when it came to the upper caste. They all seemed to be wearing brilliant outfits of different colors and designs that the young Endal just didn't seem to enjoy wearing as much. None the less Daghul had pretty much told him that if he didn't go that he would... what were his thoughts "drop him from really high up".

Daghul seem pretty set on Red fitting in, and there was always the joke of him finding a mate though Red wasn't sure if that was so much of a joke. 'You know, one of these days I'm gonna make you come to one of these parties' Red sent to his feathered friend who was busy soaring in the wind high above the cloud he was sure. Red reached across a table to grab a apple that was on top of a impressive stack of apples.

'I would be honored' the wind eagle reply all to sarcastic and real, Red chuckled to himself as he let himself scan the crowd noticing a few oddities here and there. A blonde haired man her, and a black haired there as far as seeing the outsiders in wind reach it was quite easy. The party seemed like it would be a fun one, that he was sure at least.

Preoccupied by his work, Farlen sniffed out an interesting scent in the air. For above the crowd soared a magnificent bird. An eagle perhaps, though his eyes could not quite make out the exact species of the animal. Farlen always enjoyed the presence of birds of prey. They would captivate him with their grace. In the wilderness he'd frequently leave fresh kills for birds like these, as a token of gratitude for their assistance in many hunts.

He then spotted a man dressed ever more plainly than most guests. He stood by the apple plate with no drink in his hand. Skilfully Farlen weaved through the crowd towards the man with tray of various alcoholic drinks. "Would you care for some Ale sir?" he asked politely. After all it was his job to do so.

Taking a bite of the apple in his hand Red still couldn't escape the feeling of out of place though he would try for Daghul, so he filled his mind with current issues he had be meaning to spend more time thinking about. The Wind Eagle would not be happy knowing that Red was spending the time he should be socializing in thought. Before Red could find a place to sit off to the side and watch the crowds a blonde haired man was at his side offering him a drink.

This struck Red as odd, this man seemed to act as a dek, but yet was not a native to Wind Reach. It was not totally unheard of, but why would someone put them self through such a life. Never the less Red gave a thankful nod and took a glass from his tray "thanks" he offered as he puzzled through the thoughts of the man, but kept his face friendly.

The dek had been acting strange as of lately which was not a total surprise Red guessed, but ever since becoming Endal he never had any problems with dek till just the last few weeks. It was a fleeting thought on Red's mind, and Daghul kept telling him there were other important maters at hand.

Walking clumsily through the crowds completely lost in thought, “Who was she?” He snapped out of his day dream with a tap on his shoulder. He snapped around slightly startled. “It’s you” he blurted out instinctively. He then looked down to avoid eye contact and hide is red face. That’s how he noticed the canvas bags in her hands. He then realized that he didn’t have his own “are…are t-those mine?” he hesitated for a moment and reached out to take them. “Th-thank you” he felt compelled to reward the girl; he reached in to one of the sacks and pulled out a dark green scarf and timidly handed it to her. He didn’t wait for her to respond. “Thanks again” then quickly turned around and moved quickly away, his face as red as a tomato and with bags now in his hands.

Moments later he found a quiet spot away from any eyes and sat up against a wall. “Darn it Ardal, you didn’t even ask her name,” he said to himself, “This was your chance to finally make a friend and you blew it.” He felt that they would meet again. Besides, it’s not that big of a city anyway.

Kanri felt her own face a little flushed but she was not quite sure why. She just stood there for a few blank moments, staring at the green scarf in her hands. She had not expected a gift or a reward. She just wanted to talk to him. She wanted to know his name. Kanri shook her head but put on the green scarf anyway. It was nice and soft, even if not particularly smooth. She wondered what he did and where she could find him in the future. Maybe, if she asked around, she could find out who he was. But that would require to know the people was she was asking.

Kanri went back to her camp out spot in a daze. They would be starting soon. It looked like there was a little squabble over something. Maybe shooting order? Kanri was amused and watched the redheads scurry around from her comfortable spot, fiddling with the end of her dark green scarf the entire time.

45th Day, Fall of 512 A.V.
Early Afternoon
Courtyard of the Sky, Wind-Reach

Part 1 of ?

The festivities were huge this year, people were everywhere, but that was mainly the Dek caste serving all the self-righteous men and women. It was odd how such a hardworking city had become so self-centered. He shrugged the thoughts off, dressed in a simple white shirt which hung off his exceptionally muscled body, giving it even more tone. Tight brown linen pants which were tucked into his leather boots which he had quickly rubbed down to make them look less scruffy. Most guests had come unarmed, a mistake in Telks eyes, his Bastard sword hung at his side faithfully, since he had returned from the Unforgiving all he had heard of was growing unrest in the Lower class. Being a chiet himself this worried him, he didn't wish to be arrested or attacked simply for being in that class.

Telk approached the table, remembering a fully cooked meal by a Syliran scout party who had invited him to eat with them. It was beautiful, a proper roast they had called it, dressed in a lovely sauce. Sighing he placed a couple of bits of dried meat on his plate and began eating, he didn't spot anybody he knew in particular, but that might have been because there were so many people here of a similar hair colour that they all blended together.

Pushing through the crowds he kept an eye out for anyone in particular who looked to be conversation able, it was usually the Fall or Winter period when Telk talked to people on a regular basis, as Spring and Summer he spent in the wilderness, hunting, adventuring and finding fortune. For now, he stopped to speak to an elderly couple, they were pleasant enough, if not a bit nervous, as most would be if they were at a party and a tall Inarta with a sword walked up to you, he spent ten minutes talking about how Winter was much less harsh up in Wind Reach than it was in other cities around the world. Thanking them for the chat, Telk moved off, finding an Endal to talk with, his extravagant clothes were superb but he was also quite obnoxious, he eventually stumbled off chasing a Dek who hadn't brought him is food, a humorous end to that conversation Telk had mused as he moved back among the crowds.

He brings his packages back home so he would not forget them again. This, however, took longer than he thought it would take. After returning to the field he tried signing up for the contest but it was about to start and it appeared too late for signups especially for a Cheit like him.

He knew where he could probably find the mystery girl, on the hill overlooking the contest. What would he say? What would they talk about? He decided to not go see her at this point and walk around the festival a bit longer.

He later found a spot to sit and think for a bit to be with his thoughts; rehearsing under his breath what we would say if and when he’d see her again.

Though most of the guests considered the event “just another party”, milling around with the rest of the crowd as they idly nibbled or sipped on their favorite treats, they couldn’t have been more wrong. They just didn’t know it yet.

A couple bells rolled by without any excitement, the party goers lulled into that complacent, relaxed sort of nonchalance that occurred when a bunch of people were shoved together and left to entertain and impress each other. It was really the only time that Endal mingled with the lower castes or that the Dek were treated so kindly, so to speak. With everyone occupied and fed, the lowest caste was spared most of the insults, kicks, shoves and demeaning tasks that they endured in a daily basis. It was practically a vacation.

Slowly but steadily, more and more Dek began to filter into the party, picking up trays and moving around through the crowd as they continued to offer food and drink until it got to a point where many of the serving drudge ended up standing idly with nothing left to do. It wasn’t until the Dek had infiltrated the crowd that everything happened at once.

From the midst of the party was a loud bang, followed by the clang of metal on stone. Those closest to the noise backed away, revealing Red sprawled unconscious on the stones of the Courtyard, blood trickling from a wound on his forehead. A bent serving tray lay nearby, precious food and drink scattered all over the ground

“Is he dead?!”
“Someone help him!”
“No! Leave him there, you’ll hurt him more!”
“Who did it?”
“It was a dek! I saw it! He had yellow hair!” This last was shouted above the rest as the party goers all pressed forward to get a look at the fallen Endal. When Red began to finally stir, there was a clamoring for him to tell what he had seen.

OOCI will be PMing the individuals mentioned with special information. Everyone else, just react! If your PC is dramatic, feel free to make up stories. or perhaps they thought they saw something happen! You get the point :)

A sudden clamour, a hush, and then an outburst later and Leaf was no longer truly concerned with enjoying himself. He turned to see what was going on, a chunk of meat halfway in his mouth, and saw an Endal on the ground. Narrowing his eyes and forcing himself closer with glowers to people in his way, he stood over the nameless Endal and glared at the people pushing and shoving around him.

"Who did it?" He demanded, loudly. Attacking an Endal, that was bad. But it was a party. It would be better if he, an Avora, got his hands on the miscreant rather than the Endal. There was no saying what an Endal would do to the person who harmed him.

Someone hollered a reply to the coldly asked question. "It was a Dek! I saw it! He had yellow hair!"

Immediately, Leaf thought of the only man he had seen in gods knew how long with yellow hair. The cat. He was torn then, trapped beneath his loyalty to the caste system and that to his fellow Kelvic. He decided, however, that it would still be best if he got his hands on the cat first.

"Get me that Dek, now!" He shouted.

Some people, quite a few, jumped to obey an Avora. The others, Dek and upwards, hesitated with various looks upon their faces. He knew why. An outsider like him was as much a suspect as any lowly Dek. He glared at them in return and knelt by the Endal. Reaching out to touch him, he felt a tingle along his spine and a black wool that teased the edge of his sight. To people watching him, he seemed to have blanked out, but in his mind, he was taking a walk. The Chavena stretched out before him. The beautiful nightmare landscape that caused him pain. It weaved and danced but he did not. He was attached to a chavi, the Endal's he suspected, and drawn into flashes of past that he had not wanted to see. Flickers of light and sound and experiences. There was the Endal, an Eagle, a watchful eye on a yellow Dek, and then unconsciousness. Between everything, the dark wool interrupted. He couldn't clearly see what happened.

A few breaths come and gone and Leaf snapped his hand away from the Endal with a feeling of disgust. He forgot that the lily could be so distracting when it felt like it. His other hand rubbed his side slowly as the tingle over his skin faded and he finished checking to see if the Endal was breathing. Not soon after the Endal seemed awake and Leaf stood and looked around.

"Where is that petching Dek?" He shouted.

45th Day, Fall of 512 A.V.

Courtyard of the Sky, Wind-Reach

Part 2 of ?

He scanned the crowd once more, nobody he knew again, a couple of girls tried approaching him and talking to him, but after a minute or so of awkward silence after the hello's they disappeared, merging into the ginger crowd. The streaks of black and blonde and other hair colours kept attracting his eyes though, he was wary of any outside, as most who live in the city were.

Telk had finished eating for now, but he was barely given the chance to put his plate down when the screams and yelling began. His hand flew towards his sword instantly, perhaps this is what the lower classes were talking about, perhaps there was to be a rebellion. With his hand firmly on the hilt of his sword he pushed through the crowd, his sword not drawn, but ready to be drawn at a moments notice. He reached the epicenter of the problem, a man lay on the floor, blood near to his head. The man was clearly unconcious, but he wouldn't remain that way for too long, Telk picked up the serving tray and moved it next to the unconcious man, to keep the evidence within his view, he then knelt down beside the man, finally recognizing him as an Endal.

This wasnt good.

As the Endal came back to the land of the Concious. Telk eased him, holding his head and calming him.
"You've been attacked, just stay lying down, try not to exert too much energy. Someone fetch another Endal!"
Telk stayed close to the man, hand on hilt, keeping a close watch on everybody, only letting distinguished members of society and reputable people close to the man. He looked at Leaf, motioning that they should create a small perimeter around the downed Endal, to give him some room to breath.
