Something New

Sina was curious about this strange man who decided to speak to him. He watched as the man stumbled for words as if stunned by what he said. He didn't think it was that odd to travel in the wilderness, it was a very good source of income and survival.

"What about me? There's a lot about me, isn't there? Though, in relation to what I do, I work over at Inner Fire Glass Works, for the most part. I spend time with a few friends in the woods when I'm not in the city. Dangerous place those woods, wouldn't you say?" Gaius says after a long moment of thought.

"Glassworker, eh? Had you figured you for a crafter the moment I saw you. Indeed, The woods can be very dangerous, especially for the weak hearted and those unaccustomed to the lifestyle....Say, Why d-." Sina notices Gaius lost in thought after noticing a man sitting at a table with some old, tattered books. "Who is that man? The one you keep staring at?"

"Glassworker, eh? Had you figured you for a crafter the moment I saw you. Indeed, The woods can be very dangerous, especially for the weak hearted and those unaccustomed to the lifestyle....Say, Why d-." Sina stopped speaking suddenly, seeming to notice Gaius' attention was focused elsewhere for the moment. "Who is that man? The one you keep staring at?"

Gaius shook his head, as if trying to clear it of dirt and looked at Sina, stopping as he did so and forcing Sina to do the same. "That's actually one of the friends I mentioned. His name is Mordechai. I'm sorry I got distracted, I just wasn't expecting to see him, or anyone else I know, in town today. I can introduce you if you like?" Gaius said, speaking in a calm, level tone. He didn't know why, but he felt like there was something wrong, as if Sina were a startled deer, ready to bolt at the slightest wrong move.

"Or, we can avoid him, if you're not comfortable. I've known plenty of people who simply weren't that great with meeting a lot of knew people in a short period of time. it's your choice," Gaius said, spreading his hands wide in a gesture of friendship, but one that looked eerily like a pair of scales waiting for something to weigh.

Sina stares intently at Gaius "That's actually one of the friends I mentioned. His name is Mordechai. I'm sorry I got distracted, I just wasn't expecting to see him, or anyone else I know, in town today. I can introduce you if you like?" Gaius says in an almost soothing tone of voice though he seemed a bit antsy Sina thought.

"Or, we can avoid him, if you're not comfortable. I've known plenty of people who simply weren't that great with meeting a lot of knew people in a short period of time. it's your choice," What was with this man speaking like we were old friends. It is possible that a friendship could form but friendships required work and commitment, the fact was Sina was always on the move, friendships were pointless.

Sina glances back at the man standing by the table running his hand through his hair "It is fine, I was just curious if you knew him." he says trying to hide the fact that he was analyzing the situation for any security risks, Sina might be able to take one of them but not two, considering he hadn't even bought a replacement sword as of let. "We can join him if you wish, It might pose some entertainment." He gives a smile but it comes off slightly more creepy than he mean't to.

Something New

"So Gaius, who's your friend?" Mordechai called out to the crowd nonchalantly, knowing his words would find there own way through the people to their targets. Mordechai started to take a few steps towards them and met them halfway.

Raising his hand and bowing his head he announced, "Hello good sir, I am Mordechai, a mage of sorts and a bit of a toy maker at that. Gaius and I have become good friends over the past few moons and I'm starting to realize that any people good enough to be friends with him are good enough to be friends with me. So do please feel free to introduce yourself." Mordechai uttered, realizing a second too late that his last few words might have sounded condescending. Lifting his hand gingerly toward the man, Mordechai waited for a response.

Looking closer at the man as he did so he noticed now that the marking around his eye did indeed happen to be a scar. Unfortunately, Mordechai had a habit of staring at such oddities. Not to be rude or offending, simply out of curiosity. Alas, he stared a tad too long.

Gaius noticed Mordechai staring at Sina and quickly realized that he was captivated by the man's scar. It was a habit of Mordechai's, he wasn't being rude, he was simply fascinated with the thing because he knew nothing about it. He wanted to hear its story, that was all. Still, most people don't know Mordechai, and might view him as incrediably rude. Gaius decided to try and defuse the situation before anything could go wrong.

"Mordechai, this is Sina, Sina, Mordechai. As you've heard he's a bit of a mage and a toymaker. He really is a rather interesting and pleasent fellow, once you get to know him. Shall we walk along then, the three of us, and do just that?" Gaius asked, hoping to divert any attention Sina might pay to Mordechai's staring onto himself and his somewhat strange speech.

Gaius flashed a scathing look at Mordechai, hoping it was enough to convey his feeling about Mordechai's staring, at least for now. They would talk later and gaius could clear things up better, but for now, Gaius found himself not wanting to offend Sina, subtly aware of the fact that he could leave at any moment and utterly without warning. After the momentary glance at Mordechai, Gaius refocused his attention on Sina, and hoped that he looked more calm than he felt.

Gaius said but Sina wasn't paying him any attention, he was too busy glaring from under his hood at the man who was so keen in staring at him like he was some sort of exotic animal from a far off land.

Sina finally says "If you are so keen in staring at my scar, Why don't we go off to some place quiet?" he glances around anxiously at the mobs of people making their way past them, several bumping into him and him shoving back equally. "I don't like crowds. Then we can talk if that is what you wish, I have time to kill." He glances around again.

Damn, he saw me, Mordechai though to himself at Sina's statement. Quickly trying to mend the situation Mordechai said, a little too fast, "Mysincerestapologies, Ireallymentnothingbyit, it'sjustsuchaninterestin-." He cut himself short when he noticed another hard look from Gaius and the man. "Perhaps we should just venture now." Mordechai said, calming down.

Flipping his hood over his head he made sure all his belonging where in order in his bag and slung it over his shoulder. "Well, shall we?" He said, motioning towards the sprawling crowd. "We can cut through here and make our way towards the castle walls. Shouldn't be too many people, just a few guards if that." Mordechai said with a smirk.

A grumble rustled his innerds.

Gaius watched as Mordechai checked his things and then started off in the direction he had indicated. Gaius shrugged, not looking at Sina. At this point, there was little point in pretending that things were anything but strange, so Gaius simply began to walk, trusting that Sina's curiosity would compel him to follow more than anything Gaius could say.

Gaius followed Mordechai, weaving and pushing through crowds of people. After a few minutes, the crowds thinned, and shortly after that there were no crowds left. Things were simply quiet here, like a peaceful place within the eye of a storm. Gaius continued to follow Mordechai, keeping himself ready, walking with a sure confidence and the easy manner that came with knowing how to use the sword at his side.

At least, Gaius hoped that was what he did. In truth, he barely knew how to use the weapon, and he had no confidence that he could put it to good use in a street fight. Still, it was better to try and act the part and keep fights from happening than to risk finding out the hard way. So, Gaius kept walking, simply following Mordechai, on the lookout for anything suspicious, and hoping that Mordechai knew where he was going.

Sina was unsettled by the smirk given by Mordechai upon mentioning the idea of not being around many people, he didn't trust this man. Gaius on the other hand seemed trustworthy, so far.

He watched as the two slowly made their way through the crowd away from him. He debated with himself whether or not to ditch them or to follow. "Damnit." He said as his curiousity overwhelmed him. He quickly caught up to the two who were quickly disappearing into the crowd.

After walking for a while the crowds slowly disappeared until they were almost completely alone except for the occasional beggar and passerby. He could see the city wall a few hundred feet ahead with two guards perched atop with crossbows ready to fire in case of trouble. Though even the guards watching over him like guardian angels still couldn't settle the uneasiness he felt inside him.

Finding an empty spot on the ground near the wall, Mordechai sat down, leaning against it. Glancing at the two he turned his bag out in front of him on his lap.

"Now, Gaius' new friend, I would like to demonstrate some of my prowess!" Mordechai said with a wide smile. He opened the top of his bag and began reaching into it.

He wanted to show Sina one of his toys he'd made. He wanted to put the uneasy man's mind at rest. For up until now he'd felt some disturbance in his attitude whilst he was around.
