508AV Spring 50th The Streets, Sunset
Scuffles in the streets of Sunberth were common, every day things, for the young-adult halfling- it was his life.
He was fighting with a man, ones whos belly was rounded, and his beard was a scruffy blonde all frizzed up. A nasty odor came from the man, one smelling of booze and pulp, sweat, with the jingle of coin in his pockets. That jingle had been the sole reason why the halfling had been attracted to the gluttonous pig, instead of being reasonable and trying to pick-pocket the man, the halfling had decided to be up front and personal. Threatening the pig for his coin or he would meet his death in but a few moments, and flashing his claws, only to have a dagger whiz by his face a little too close for comfort, catching the bridge of his nose and making the halfling back away by jumping and flailing his arms for balance.
"HAH! My death? Meet me?" The man bellowed, he sneered at the halfling.
The halfling didn't know much common, just enough to get by, and what his father had taught him in his short teaching years before an awful death had seemed to be enough to the halfling. Whatever else the halfling had picked up was in brawls and bar fights, the casino, and sometimes conversing occasionally with shopkeepers to buy items.
"YEAH, PETCHA'R" The halfling shouted at him, suddenly irritated by the trickle of his own blood, "I'M GONNA BEAT YOU BLOODY!"
Charging, the young halfling knew not of patience or waiting for the right time to strike his opponent, he did what instinct said to do. The man would swing downwards in an over arm arch, dagger pointed down to gouge the freakish halflings shoulder, but the halfling moved at the last second, turning his body and pointing his redly long haired elbow the fat mans way so it would ram into his gut and send him toppling down. Though not effectively disarming the fat man of a pig, the pig breathed hard to catch his breath and regain his footing, where as the young halfling was now on top of the man and attempting to scratch the pigs flesh into ribbons with his claws.
The fat man used his legs and kicked the halfling off himself, cut up and bloodied, with a mean look about his face "do you know who I am fool?" The pig chuckled.
The halfling was holding his sides and now standing, the kick had been hard enough to cause him to retreat by a few feat, and sting in his ribcage- but not to the point it would deter him from slaughtering the pig for his coin "NO PIG, I DUN CARE EITHER" he yelled, wincing as a burning sensation entered his side around where he had been kicked off.
"Well, I hope you enjoy whats going to happen to you next..." The fat man got up, holding his dagger a little shakily, but brought up to his lips his fingers and made a shrilly whistle twice. Making the halfling stare at the man, and then around him, from the cracks and crevices of shadowed alleys, other men came out, one by one "because," he paused as five goons gathered up, the halflings eyes widening as if he had been set up for this "you're going to be a slave for the rest of your life when we're through with you, freak, aye, you've been causing alot of trouble around here for a few years haven't you? I wonder how many people would pay to see you fight in the Blood Pits."
The slaver had finished off with a smirk, knowing full well who the halfling was, his patterns, seemingly everything.
The halfling didn't think, there was immediate danger, and there would be no way he could take on six people at once with that strange pain in his side. They were closing in quickly, a goon on either side of the halfling holding nets with two more the same way as the first two in a diagonal pattern holding swords and axes behind the first two while one of the goons stayed with the leader of the pack and he had no seeming weapon- but gauntlets.
Glancing about, the halfling was looking for an opening as there was no frontal one, there was not one in the back as the nearest alley was only a few meters off, the first net came at him and he swerved to the side with a pained gasp, choosing to run for it the way he had moved to but was then promptly met with the second net entangling him. Men were everywheres, as the halfling held his body to himself and pulled violently at their hold on the net, grunting and gasping, he clawed hard at the matierial but to no avail. All the while the words:
"keep him alive, death won't pay you if the freak is killed" had come from the leaders mouth, speaking loudly so as to get it through all their thick skulls.
So the halfling pushed himself forwards, instead of backwards, instead of resisting the net, he tumbled himself at the men and managed to surprise and push the first two down as well as with the others pinning Bloodfight down. Fury and frustration filled the halflings mind and body as he struggled against the netting and the hands, thrashing to get up, once or twice getting a foothold but was pushed back down. He began screaming, in his Zithanese, stuttery silent echoes to the mens ears but to any Zith nearby- curses and rage, the halfling was enraged but was no more as a boot came down to his head.
Hard enough to only daze him, causing him to see stars, with black beginning to blur the sides of his vision as he forced himself to stay awake- still trying to fight. |
