Rhy was ever optimistic and confident in her ability to learn to fight. She exhibited confidence in Vanator's ability to train her, and in turn the compliment boosted the man's desire to see her become an efficient combatant. In fact, it just made him feel good.
The Kelvic appeared lean and fragile, but Vanator knew that was not true. Her long limbs were bound tight with strong sinew, and in spite of her lovely feminine form, she was a Luvanor Hound, and they were a breed of fast, hearty grassland hunters. So, though his attack was pulled somewhat, he put enough speed and power behind his swing to truly test Rhy's reactions. Again, the girl surprised the Drykas, not attempting to block, nor ducking or dodging the blow. Instead she charged with a shoulder check, white, sharp teeth bared with his throat as their target. She did not close fast enough, though the collision of the hilt with her ribs did not stop her from getting in a swipe at him with her wooden ax. Though, this time, Vanator was ready for a strike at his hand, and a quick turn of his body denied the woman her target. A subtle nudge of his shoulder against her sent her stumbling backwards. Looking at the wild-haired girl, Van wondered if she would have really sunk her fangs into his neck.
"You are full of surprises Rhy, I like that!" He grinned at his pupil. "The body check was actually not a bad idea, if you move in fast enough to deny your opponent the use of his longer weapon. But you must remember what skin you wear. Though I would not savor the thought of your sharp teeth on my throat, once you latched on you would be pretty defenseless, and I don't think you could rip out a throat in you human form." He didn't want to find out either.
"But you have a lot to work with, and I think we can create a unique style that will take advantage of both a weapon and your natural instincts, an unexpected combination."
The Denusk brushed a lock of stray hair from his face, looking down at Rhy. "I think I have a feel for you in this form, lets try a few more things, then we can try it in your natural body. Well, first, you mentioned you wanted to ask me something. Is now a good time?"
