Physical Information
Race – Drykas
Birthday – 5th of Summer, 491 AV, in Endrykas
Age -26 years old
Gender – Male
Orientation – Simplest explanation is he's gay. However he'd be able to sleep with a woman for the sole purpose of having a child. He's aware he isn't really attracted to women and can't see himself ever falling in love with one, but doesn't think more about it given the same-sex taboo in Endrykas. He hides it from himself and everyone else, so while others may be able to guess he'd likely never confirm it. If pressed too far he'd probably tell a white lie about falling in love while in Riverfall, Spring 517 but that she wouldn't come back to Endrykas with him.
Languages – Jez is fluent in Pavi (/Grassland Sign), the most common tongue in Endrykas, and can speak basic Common. He can manage poorly a few phrases in Nari, thanks to a group of people he met during his travels who taught him.

Jez has maintained his good physical state from his work both within his Pavilion and handling animals at the Healing Hoof. This is useful to him as he needs to keep in pace with his feisty stallion. His hair is mousey brown and rarely well groomed, though he never has stubble on his face. His eyes are green and gentle, with a charming smile almost always present on his face. His wind marks stretch in a thin, elaborate tribal pattern down his spine, starting from a small spot on his left shoulder blade.

On the right side of his hair Jez has two decorations. One is a piece of leather braided into his hair, ending in a terminal knot that joins it to the emerald feather of a Glassbeak. This was gifted to him by a Glassbeak Kelvic and he uses it as a talisman to stay safe in the Sea of Grass. The second is a light purple piece of ribbon tied into his hair and left to flow down to the end. At the end is an embroidery pattern of a flame. It is used as a memorial for his grandfather, the previous Ankal. On the left side of his hair Jez has one decoration. It is a symbol of his high status in the Pavilion (being the oldest Drykas nephew of the childless Ankal). It is made of rope, knotted around hair, that was periodically dyed purple so that when tied into multiple knuckle knots it displays an aesthetically pleasing pattern. The rope contains seventeen knots, representing his age when he bonded to Wind and recieved his windmarks, officially becoming a member of the Amethyst Clan. Jez also wears a purple knotted necklace from which hangs the fang of his grandfather's prized hunting dog. It is a symbol he keeps on him to remind him of his family.
Jez's Sash - Picture coming soon
Jez has various decorations hanging from the wide sash around his waist. One of these is a Tyet decoration, which has a unique pattern of knots hanging from a metal rings that the sash loops through. It's counterpart is attached to Wind's yvas, a shared symbol of the joining of opposites and of their protection over each other. Similar to this is their shared trinity knot decorations, though these pieces aren't identical. The one on Wind hangs like a small charm whilst the one on Jez is large and triangular. These shared trinity knots represent the uninterrupted death and rebirth cycle that relates the Drykas and their Striders. Another decoration is the line of bar knots hung over the sash, symbolising major storms Jez has experienced. It is tradition to keep this going in his Pavilion, and then to release one of the knots during a dry spell in hopes of signalling to the Gods to release the rains. He has multiple simple strands of ribbon ending in terminal knots hanging from the sash that have embroidery representing different Gods to him, such as the tree blowing in the wind for Zulrav and the triskelion for Caiyha. Jez also has multiple knotworks symbolising adventures with Wind, or just decorating empty gaps in the sash.
From the 11th Spring 517 AV Jez also keeps a strip of leather tied around his left forearm so that he is always ready to use his shortbow.

Strider – Wind

Wind is a strong, eleven year old dun stallion strider. His legs are socked in black and his cream complexion seeps slightly into his long, dark brown mane. His dark eyes are full of fire and passion, and he compliments Jez well. They ride together full of energy, almost daily. From a fairly expensive blood line, Wind cost Jez relatively little due to having such a feisty and difficult to handle temperament.
Of the pair, the most elaborate knot work can be found over Wind, tied to his yvas. All sorts of complex patterns, including good luck knots and pan changs, act as amulets and symbols of their adventures together.

Character Concept
Jez is a member of the Firetongue pavilion, in the Amethyst Clan.

As neither the oldest nor youngest child in his large family, Jez grew up without the pressures of looking after the younger kids or aspiring to be like the older ones. He is an entertainer, always ready for a laugh or a joke; loud and boisterous, he rarely thinks ill of anyone and often speaks his mind. He is very protective of his family and is always caring towards them. He enjoys long rides with Wind, who accompanies him almost everywhere, and though as a rule he is against fighting he’ll defend his pavilion if he feels he has to.

He has two main goals in life; to become closer to the goddess Caiyha, and to join The Watch.


History
Jez's uncle Beka (61) is the Ankal of his Pavilion. Jez’s father, Fenrir (55), and mother, Carla(48), had children together, of which he is the oldest. After him comes Farrah (22), Salva (20), twins Caleb and Liam (19), and the only girl of the family, Kai (18). He also has an older half-sister, Rosanna (28), born to his father and a deceased mother, and an older half-brother, Valko (26), born to his father and Moanna Windrunner, a svefra. Jez’s mother cared closely for him, but after a few of his younger siblings were born he became fairly independent and spent most of his time messing around and cheering others up.

When Jez was very young his grandfather (father of his father), the previous Ankal, gave him a knotted necklace holding a fang that belonged to his favourite hunting dog, which he has always worn since. His grandfather's death hit him hard, causing him to become withdrawn for a period of time, before he discovered the comfort his religion could bring and praying to the Gods brought him out of it. Jez’s father rarely paid him close attention, and so Jez was pleasantly surprised to find that he had been presented with an expensive strider mare, hand picked by the Ankal. The mare, Papus, however, had bonded to his youngest sibling, Kai, instead. Not one to bear grudges, he had congratulated her and carried on with life, slightly disappointed that he had yet to find his strider.

The Drykas’ of the Firetongue pavilion were known to bond at a fairly young age. Early on his seventeenth Spring he finally found Wind thrashing around on the opposite side of Endrykas. They had an instant connection and the stallion was his for a small fee. He finally earnt his wind marks and was fully accepted. Around this time he began to develop a real respect for the gods and goddesses, especially treasuring Caiyha and the way she maintains the balance in all life. Since then he has hoped to grow as close to her as possible.

In Winter 512AV Jez was horrified to find a mass outbreak of pox. As close as he was to Salva, his often ill younger brother, he secluded himself for most of the Winter to avoid catching the pox and passing it to Salva. In Fall of 516 Jez was glad to see his kin return to a more spiritual lifestyle. In Winter 516 Jez focused on his work, saving money to fund a trip to Riverfall that was inspired by his friend Rena. Spring 517 saw Jez learning a lot through travelling, surviving multiple injuries,
and becoming more in tune with the core of Drykas culture, the Web.
