[Training] Spring Training

46th to 90th of Spring 510 A.V.
The University

Torc entered the Professor’s lab and checked to make sure everything was ready for him. The experiment was ready and Torc had familiarized himself with ritual. When Professor Stonemiller finally entered the lab he nodded to Torc and they began their work. The Professor and Torc picked up several gold and silver mallets. The both nodded to one another as they obtained the vision of the object’s aura. The Professor started the ritual as he hit the glass orb gently with the head of a golden hammer, as the hammer gave a faint note the professor began to touch the orb with the handle. As he touched each point the aura of the orb opened and small tendrils of power began to expand. The Professor was going to open seven points while Torc began to expose the secondary points with a silver hammer. The note from striking the hammer to the globe should have faded, it began to actually raise and fall as the Professor and Torc touched different points.

In a way it was like two notes raising and falling from a lute. As Torc and the Professor finished the the hammers, they each went to a plate and picked up the tuning forks. Placing the forks golden tongs they began to touch the orb in its exposed aura field and travel down the rod structure with a signing tong into a plate hole. Torc could see the aura began to feed itself through the rods and then like the top of a tree branch into each plate. As Torc placed the tuning fork into the plate the aura of the item looked like it was interacting with the catalysts.

Once Torc and the Professor was done with all the tuning forks they began to light the candles. The flame of each candle began to act like it was in the wind and flutter towards the pedestal. While the glyphs began to glow as if they had just came out of the furnace. The air began to feel thick with power and as the last candle was lit the Professor nodded to Torc to bring in the slate tablets. Hours went by as Torc and the professor wrote down observations on the slate. They had to do so in quiet since the tuning forks continued to hum the song of the objects aura. Torc observed the small channels behalf like a root seeking water, and yet it pulsed like a heartbeat.

Over the next few days Torc watched the experiment during the night while the professor did so during the day. In the morning they would both complete a two new steps. Then spend an hour writing down observations. Strangely Torc was able to use Glyphs to better describe the reactions of the small channels then he would have done in the modern language. It wrecked havoc on Torc schedule, he found only a few moments to do his own study in the library. He often spent most of the nights washing the labs with salted waters. However, once and a while he was watching to make sure the harmony didn’t become broken. There were a few times when Torc had to re-tune a fork or strike open another channel in the object on the pedestal. Each time Torc wrote down the time and what he did so that he could give full notes to the Professor. Torc did notice that the Professors cheer had seemed to improve as each day went by. The experiment was producing interesting results, but Torc thought it had more to do with the fact that the ritual seemed to be going faster with the two of them tending it.

On the final day they began to deconstruct the harmonies, taking out the tuning forks and striking them with the opposite metal hammers then the original ones that opened the aura. The catalysts had slowly degraded and disappeared over the last few days. The professor and Torc began to strike the glass orb closing its aura points and finally they began to bathe the orb in the charged water that Torc had made the night before. Torc could see the whirlwind of energies in the orb slowly began to settle and a faint warm light began to grow within the orb. The light wasn’t has harsh as the normal orbs that Torc had been getting use to, and as the water slid off the glass, the light seemed to be steady in it pulsing and finally with an audible pop, the aura settled into place.

It took days for Torc to clean up the professor’s lab during that time he had to clean up several others to make sure students could continue on with their projects. After about a week, Torc’s life settled down and he was able to clean the labs in the morning, study in the library in the evening and have some nice walks with Chashakja in the evening.

Sadly as the end of spring was approaching Torc was able to complete a magecrafted item from a gentleman and earn enough money to buy more books, some metal so that he could craft Chashakja a necklace and enough to fill his stomach for the rest of the season. After buying the four books on glyphing, he had purchased one book on advanced metallurgy and construction of unique forge items, and two books on functional magecrafted devices along with their rituals.
