PC's Name
Eska Rivermane
Physical Information
Race: Drykas (Emerald Clan)
Born: 42nd Day of Spring, 492 AV
Age: 20
Sex: Male
Physical Description
Eska is a rather large man, standing 6'1" and weighing 178lbs. He is visibly muscular, especially in his upper torso and arms thanks to extended use of his longbow. He has tanned skin and long dark brown hair, which usually hangs freely to his chest. A single braid hangs from the left side of his head, with six emerald beads woven into it. He has light brown eyes that express an unwavering love for the world around him, and an uncanny sense of understanding and empathy. He is clean shaven like many Drykas, and has intricate windmarkings that cover the right side of his body. He earned these through excellent hunts and proving himself as a warrior. He seldom wears a shirt when on the grasslands, except during the cooler seasons or in poor weather.
Character Concept
Eska is an extremely passionate person, like most Drykas. He is always quick to make himself heard, even to authority figures, but respects authority nevertheless. He is group oriented most all the time, except when hunting, as he considers this to be his own walk with nature. He is a skilled hunter, and an adequate warrior, though he has much less experience fighting people than animals (other than his brother). He respects nature in all of its forms, and will not kill an animal if he does not require it for food or in self defense. If an animal is killed in self defense, he will still say a prayer over its corpse praising it for its courage and a well fought battle. He shares a close personal connection with his horse like most Drykas, as well as his family. Some of his less desirable traits include his sometimes condescending compassion of the less fortunate, little knowledge of the world outside of Cyphrus, and his competitiveness. He is completely against killing animals for recreational purposes, though is not above turning a hunt into a recreational activity as long as a sense of respect is maintained. Eska loves the simplicity of the wilderness, which is one of the main reasons he hunts so frequently. He also enjoys visiting new locations and meeting new people. His favorite foods are venison, green peas, and rabbit. He is uncomfortable in the woodlands, as well as open water. He dislikes heights, but will swallow his fear if absolutely necessary. He also does not like the taste of fish, but will eat it if he must.
Character History
Note :
Eska was born in the Sea of Grass, into the Rivermane Pavilion. He was the first son born to Ankal Norske Rivermane of the Emerald Clan and his first wife Reasa. After him, one full brother was born, as well as two half-sisters and one half-brother. In his early childhood, his siblings were his best friends, and they spent many days playing together in the camp. Upon realizing that Eska was next in line to be Ankal, his relationship with his half brother became strained. His half sisters spent less and less time with him as they started to learn various skills that their mother deemed necessary, leaving only his full brother Tennek as his playmate.
Later on, his father and the other men of his pavilion started teaching the two of them the skills necessary to survive in the Sea of Grass, primarily equestrian. The two were quick to show skill in many of the same areas, and were always competing with one another. Eska proved to be the better rider of the two, and was naturally a quite skilled tracker. Tennek, while being the smaller of the two, still showed signs of being the better warrior. In their early teenage years, the two boys would commonly engage in friendly wrestling matches, which usually ended up being… Not so friendly. The competitive nature of both boys would cause them to forsake their brotherly mindset and focus only on victory. While no strikes were ever thrown between the two, private disagreements could be solved easily in wrestling matches. The two boys wouldn’t let their rivalry get in the way of their brotherhood. The two would still commonly play with each other, and talk with one another about various things.
Just before Eska’s fifteenth birthday, he was chosen by a Cyphrus Strider as its rider. His father was happy for him, and gave his own Yvas to his son. Eska spent the next few months racing his father and other clansmen who had been chosen by a Strider, while still spending a good bit of time with his brother. No more than seven months later, his brother was also chosen by a Strider, and their rivalry started anew. The two would race constantly, hoping to discover not only who the better rider was, but also who had the better steed. The two had also come of age to hunt on their own. Their combined skill set would always assure a kill, and the two could return with their heads held high and a deer on their horses’ backs.
As time went by, the rivalry between the two brothers became stronger and stronger. Eska’s half siblings all but ignored him, but Tennek would hardly leave his side, always issuing challenges in daily activities. Who could kill a deer in less time, who could make it back to the camp faster; and of course, who could best the other in battle. By this time, the two knew that wrestling alone would not improve their skills in battle, and training could only get you so far. The two would head deep into the Sea of Grass with wooden staffs and fight until one surrendered. After a friendly battle, they would ride in search of deer to take out with their bows. Of course, this was a contest as well. Who could hit it from further away, how long it took to fall, how large it was. Things of the sort.
