The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

The Ethereal Opera House

The Ethereal Opera house is one of the eldest Lhavitian buildings. It is near the east end of Zintia, looking out over the Misty Peaks. To enter, one must traverse the courtyard centered by a picturesque statue of Syna and Leth, embracing in the sky. The statue sits atop a fountain, and is a fitting backdrop for many of Cheva’s ceremonies. The structure is two-tiered with a second story balcony supported by several skyglass columns. Rather than doors the entrance is a series of arches, shaded beneath the overhang. The cool exterior houses many local buskers and poets, hawking their artistry in the open atmosphere.

At the building’s inception, the cities greatest artists were called upon. They were charged with making a lasting contribution to the Diamond of Kalea. Several ornate murals depicting Lhavit grace the foyer, lined with gilding and held by marble. The function of the room is reception, small stands at each end to direct oncoming patrons. The hosts take and sell tickets, hand out seasonal advertisements and run the guestbook. Professional musicians rotate in and out, playing lightly to provide an ambient background.

ImageThere are several corridors leading to the theater, mostly used for art openings and upcoming productions. Dancers, singers, painters and directors hawk their figurative wares, holding parties and networking amongst themselves. For a nominal fee those not employed by the Opera House can pay to attend these events as a way into the field, or simply a way to establish a name in the city. At these times donations are accepted from the Ethereal, as yet another way to gain credibility. Finally, the main room is the grand centerpiece. The curtains are sewn from the finest velvet and are over fifty years old! Shows are usually massive in scale. Single productions from the Opera Company take only twelve weeks to rehearse but the budget is always astronomical. The room itself has two tiers – orchestra level and balcony level. The balconies are eight in total and can be completely rented out depending on the price one is willing to pay. The orchestra pit sits directly below the stage area.

Lili Arealia
ImageName: Lili A'realia
Race: Human
Birthdate: 492 AV
Birthplace: Lhavit
Occupation: Owner and manager at the Ethereal Opera House
Skills: Dance - 35, Leadership - 80, Negotiation - 45, Observation - 50, Organization - 50, Politics - 35
Languages: Common (Fluent)

Lili inherited this Opera House from her father Jean, a Lethborn Ethaefal. The ownership passed to her when he was slain during the Day of Discourse, as the Opera House had been used in the act of human trafficking. Slaves transported to the Tranquil Port were smuggled to the House where they were held for distribution and ultimately auction.

Lili and her mother had long separated themselves from the family name, relinquishing any rights to ownership. However when Lili's father died, she seized the opportunity to make a case for inheritance. This was taken before Zintila herself. The Ethereal is a historic location and had been thought to belong to the Constellation. Despite universal protest, the Alvina granted Lili this opportunity to redeem her family name. Whatever was said must have shown the young woman to be truly pure of spirit. She has been the proprietor of the Opera House ever since.

Lili learned many of the precepts of management at an early age. Hard work and herculean effort has yielded some of the greatest success the Ethereal House has seen to date. In personal interaction Lili is shrew and ambitious, commanding a wry sense of humour. She is seen as a beautiful if not cold woman, with golden tresses and sharp green eyes. Despite the circulation of gossip, she has never been seen in a relationship with anyone - male or female. The only guest accompanying her to events is usually her mother. Lili keeps few close friends, which incidentally never overlap with business associates. Work and play are kept separate.
