Wanderer and the Squire (Richard Burke)

Postby N'all Rivent on February 13th, 2013, 12:48 am

Fear flickered in N'all's eyes as he jumped away from the blade, losing his balance and stance for a moment. He collected his thoughts, keeping his instinct to flee at bay as he took his stance again. He sized up his opponent and his weapon again. He now knew the blades reach, a bit of information he hoped would give him a small edge.

He began circling his opponent again, keeping out of the blades reach as he ran through possible strikes in his head. He circled faster for a moment before abruptly stopping, he jumped forward swinging his left arm in a punch aimed at the mans stomach.

Wanderer and the Squire (Richard Burke)

Postby Richard Burke on February 13th, 2013, 7:59 pm

The man dodging the blade wasnt a surprise, no one ever was hit on the first strike of the fight, Richard knew that all too well, as he had been fighting for nearly 6 years. The return punch was a shock, and it landed, it wasnt the hardest punch the squire had ever taken, but it knocked most of the breath out of the knight in triaing.

Richard wasnt going to let being breathless stop him, he had been knocked around enough to recover from a blow like this rapidly. Richard grabed the wrist of the man with his off hand, and tried to twist the arm to take the man to his knees.

N'all was satisfied by the impact of his punch, clearly leaving the man breathless. He wasn't however, expecting to be taken to his knees as the man twisted his arm. He wasn't used to pain, and the twisting of his arm made him cringe as he thought of a way out.

He couldn't think clearly and decided to resort to the first thing that popped into his head, so he began slamming his forearm into the mans left knee. He didn't know what effect this would have, but he hoped it would be pleasant for him and not so pleasant for the other combatant.

Wanderer and the Squire (Richard Burke)

As he took the man to his knees, Richard could feel the desperation in the man's attacks. He still hadnt drawn the dagger, so maybe this man wasnt a spy. Richard took a full step in retreat, leaving 4 feet between the two men. Richard's sword was still aimed menacingly at the man's chest.

"You can stay here, but I need you to answer some simple questions." the squire stated, trying to sound offcial, and in control, he hoped the man would cooperate, Richard didnt want to kill the man, without knowing who he was anyway.

OOCSorry about the lenght, I'm not used to the fighting in this forum yet

N'all was surprised by the mans movement away from the conflict. He stood up, rubbing his arm as he backed away slightly. He didn't know why the man would stop fighting, but he was relieved that he had when he had. His fist was sore but he couldn't leave himself open, he took his stance once more as he listened to what the man had to say.

He offered him the right to stay at the cost of answering some questions, N'all was fine with this. He stood straight now, looking at the man for a brief moment before asking his own question, "What are these questions?"
He thought of several possible questions and answers as he waited for a response.

Wanderer and the Squire (Richard Burke)

Postby Richard Burke on February 18th, 2013, 7:41 pm

The man stood at the ready, Richard wasn’t going to let him leave if he decided to run, it was his job to protect the city. Richard held his sword, pointed at the man’s throat, and they were only feet away, but, the squire had declared a parlay of sorts, and he would wait until this man’s intentions were known before striking.

“What are your intentions inside the city of Syliras?” he asked menacing, leaving no room for any thing other than the truth. “what is your name?” he declared, in the same tone. He waited for any sign that the man would fight back, and his weight was balanced between his feet, ready to pounce if the man tried anything.

N'all felt uneasy, the man also stood at the ready, his blade pointed at N'all's throat. The distance between them was short, a lunge could easily take N'all out of the conflict, but the agreement of asking questions was met.

"I am here because I have no where else to go", he said, his voice slightly hinted with anxiety and very slight fear, "I have no particular business within the cities walls." He shifted uneasily between his feet for a moment before losing his stance. "I am N'all," he said, raising his hand to his chest in a sort of greeting, "I'm sorry that I caused this little dispute." He was trying to get out of here, and kindness looked like his only option.

"Im just a little paranoid when it comes to certain "races"", he said, his voice filled with a slight venom, "That's why I asked you that question."

Wanderer and the Squire (Richard Burke)

Postby Richard Burke on February 19th, 2013, 1:57 pm

Richard looked the man over, he was well acquainted to xenophobia, many people in the city were uncomfortable around certain races, even though the only people they should be afraid of are the ones who wanted to destroy, or undermine the great city they lived in- the real foes were numerous, and vigilance was the only way to combat them.

“As you can see, I’m human,” said the squire, standing up straight, “You’re lucky that I’m not dragging you to the tank.” The squire completely dropped his combat stance, and out the sword in its scabbard. “If I find that you’re causing trouble in the city, I will drag you to the tank myself.” he motioned for the man to follow him, and Richard started towards the gate, with a sigh, his walk would be over now, and training would start in less than a bell.

N'all followed the man willingly, not wanting to cause any more of a disturbance. They passed through the threshold of the gates and went their separate ways. He was glad to be getting away from the man, he felt that if he was near him much longer another conflict may follow. He needed to get to work, and the scuffle would make him more than a little late.

Even though being late loomed over him, N'all felt the need to stop at several places to look at different objects that interested him. He also had several times in which he almost got into another fight, of course over his issues with a certain race, before arriving at his workplace, the Spinning Coin. Although he didn't feel the need to wear his armor today it may have helped him today, but oh well, a long tedious work day wouldn't hurt even without being clad in his armor. He would be fine without it.

Notes :
Good fight guys, now N'all if you want unarmed and boxing, you're going to have to show more. One punch isn't good enough, and Richard if you want wrestling then you need to wrestle, a twist of the arm isn't enough. All in all I enjoyed the threads. Good work!
