Winter Archey Contest

The sun slowly pulled itself up over the side of the mountain side sending beams of light across the mist filled sky that surrounded the freshly cleaned courtyard of the sky where it has been chosen to set up the range. After much waiting the day had arrived for the games to begin, and targets had been set through out the courtyard and lines drawn out for safety. It was sure to be quite a sight today as the archers would be using their skill to show off to the people of the mountain.

Already Dek moved across the range moving last minute targets, and other small details under the supervision of a official of the contest. Everything would be ready before any Inartan came to take their place be in in the stands that had been set to the side, or on the archer's line.

As the sun came higher into the sky, and the 10th bell sounded a man stood upon a raised box his red hair braided and allowed to hang to his shoulders. A red and gold sash hung around his shoulder naming his the official announcer for the game.

"Archers please take your mark!" came his voice over the crowd "please find your seat if you are a observer to day..." he gave a couple of louder boys in the crowd a death glare till they stopped talking and then added "Thank you".

There were signs that showed the archers which lane they would be shooting at based on skill level, and each different set of lanes had it's own official so that each game would happen at the same time. With the last of the people taking their place it was up to the archers to come and take their place.

oocHey everyone it's time to get this game on the road haha, please make your post that you are ready and we will get start with the game. Lets aim for having everyone's post in by the 21st so I can post the first scores.

Also the rules will be posted in the sign up thread as a new post, and then moved to the first post. Those who have joined before I posted this thread are allowed in the game and I will add their information to the rosters. Rules will be up in the next day or two, but before we begin the scoring.

Winter Archery Contest (Game)

Postby Ardal on February 20th, 2013, 11:58 pm

Ardal took his place at the queue. He had chickened out over signing up for the last tournament but this time he had the confidence. In fact, his whole outlook on life had changed he was finally becoming less shy branching out to make new friends and the like.

The sun was bright but to the backs of them lighting the targets almost making them reflect like small frozen lakes in the light. He had taken his spot on the mark waiting for the others to arrive as well. His whole life he had been overlooked by his peers but this was his chance to make an impact.

He had been placed in a higher ranking level than he had anticipated. He was kind of shocked that they had placed him to go up against a hunter, an actual hunter! He had only read the name and rank but his mind already was filled with thoughts of hope. In his mind anyway, if he could even mildly impress her she may take him on, or recommend him to someone she knows, as an apprentice. This was what he wanted more than the prizes available, though it would be nice to get his hands on some extra money.

Winter Archery Contest (Game)

Postby Iosha on February 21st, 2013, 4:08 am

Iosha nervous because she couldn't believed she sighed up for a Archery contest! She wasn't a hunter or a warrior like the other Inarta lining up next to her. She glanced at the crowd for a minute and blushed in embarrassment. She wasn't even a Inarta. She was a Konti with a Inarta father, and to most Inarta in Wind Reach, it meant nothing to them because all they saw was a outsider. If she wasn't a Avora, she was sure a Endal lord would have taken advantage of her by now. She looked at the target, and she could feel her hand start to shake in the cool breeze. She stared at her hand trying to will it to stop shaking, but it seemed it wasn't listening to her. She sighed and looked at the people to her either side of her. They were both Inarta, and their hair was a bright crimson in the wind while she had the dull blondish white. She must have looked like a ghost compared to the two Inarta. Suddenly, Iosha inner chastisement was interrupted by the sudden yell of the announcer telling them to take their places.

Taking a deep breath, Iosha walked up to the line. She smiled at the two people next to her, and she reached back for a arrow. However, when she pulled one out of the quiver, she accidentally pulled another arrow along with it, and she watched in slow motion as the arrow hitting the ground. She went wide eyed and started to turn red at the embarrassing incident. Iosha bent over to pick up the arrow, and the whole twenty arrows slide out of the quiver and onto the cobble stone of the courtyard. Iosha couldn't believe how loud of sound the arrows made crashing to the ground. Iosha looked up and she could see people were staring at her, and she thought to herself, “Rak'keli, I hope I am not making a mockery of their shooting contest.” Iosha set her bow on the ground muttering in Kontiese as she frantically picked up her arrows and shoving them back into the quiver. Once they were all a counted for in the quiver, she stood up and her pink face now red. She held her bow in the left hand, and she reached back to undo her pony tail. Hoping and praying, her hair would cover her shame and embarrassment she was causing her father's spirit.

Walking up to the line, Iosha kept her head down not wanting to look at the crowd or her competition. She could feel her hands starting to sweat, and she knew it was a bad thing if she was going to get a accurate shot, so she didn't want her hands to stiffen up in the cold. Iosha nervously said to the contender next to her, “Well, I am off to a great start. All I need is my bow string to break. Wait, I shouldn't say that knowning my luck. It might actually happen...” Iosha knew if the bowstring snap during the contest. She might as well just go home. She took another deep breath trying to calm her mind, and waited for the announcer to say OK to start the contest.
